Admission Notifications 2008-09
The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped graded as an excellent Institute by the Rehabilitation Council of India, imparts professional training of international recognition, in the area of Audiology, Speech - Language Pathology and Special Education (Hearing Impairment). It also provides clinical & rehabilitation services for persons with hearing impairment and communication disorders and is engaged in research and developmental activities.

Applications are invited for admission to the academic year 2008 - 09 for the following courses:

Course:
01. Master of Education (Hearing Impairment) M.Ed.(HI) (15 seats)
Center: Mumbai
Duration: One Year
Eligibility:
B.Ed (HI) or any other equivalent degree from a recognized University with 50% aggregate marks OR
B.Ed. (SE-DE) (HI) with 50% aggregate marks and one year teaching experience OR
B.Ed. (Gen) with 50% aggregate marks and D.Ed. (HI) /DSE(HI) with 50% aggregate marks.

02. Master of Audiology & Speech - Language Pathology
Center: Mumbai (15 seats), Kolkata (10 seats), Secunderabad (10 seats)
Duration: Two Years
Eligibility:
i) Bachelor of Audiology & Speech - Language Pathology or any equivalent degree recognized by the respective Universities and RCI.
ii) Internship mandatory for candidates who have completed Bachelor in Audiology & Speech - Language Pathology after 2001.

03. Bachelor of Education (Hearing Impairment)
Center: #Mumbai (25 seats), Kolkata (15 seats), Secunderabad (15 seats)
Duration: One Year
Eligibility:
#Three year degree course.
Degree in any discipline or equivalent from any recognized University.

04. **Bachelor of Audiology and Speech - Language Pathology
Center: Mumbai (30+3* seats), Kolkata (20+2* seats), Secunderabad (20 seats), New Delhi (20 seats)
Duration: Four Years
Eligibility:
i) Pre-University exam of any recognized university in India or equivalent of 10+2/ HSC in India or abroad.
ii) For Mumbai center the combination with

Compulsory:
• Physics (P) + Maths (M)
• Physics + Biology (B)

Any one subject
Biology; Chemistry; Computer Science (CS)
Mathematics; Chemistry; Computer Science (CS)
iii) For Secunderabad center the eligibility is PCB/M and English as subject.
iv) For Kolkata center the eligibility is Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English and any other Vth subject.
Minimum marks as per affiliating University norms.

05. **Diploma in Hearing, Language & Speech (20 in each centre)
Center: Kolkata,Secunderabad, New Delhi, Bhubaneshwar
Duration: One year
Eligibility:
10+2 passed with PCB / PCM or its equivalent

06. **Diploma in Education Special Education (20 in each centre)
(Hearing Impairment)
Center: Kolkata,Secunderabad, New Delhi, Bhubaneshwar
Duration: Two years
Eligibility:
10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board of education with
Minimum marks: 45% for General Category
40% for SC/ST/PH

07. **Diploma in Sign Language Interpreter Course (15 in each center)
(Rs. 2,000/- p.m.stipend)
Center: Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi
Duration: One year
Eligibility:
10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board of education. Preference will be given to more qualified candidates.


1. Prescribed application form and prospectus can be obtained from the respective centers in person or by post on payment of Rs. 500/- for General Category and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PH by way of Demand Draft in favour of “The Director, AYJNIHH, Mumbai”. Those desirous of admission to B.ASLP at AYJNIHH should send Demand Draft in favour of “The Director, AYJNIHH, Mumbai” only.
2) The filled in application form should be submitted to the respective center/s.

3) Other details:
i) For B.ASLP and M.ASLP at AYJNIHH, Mumbai, 50% seats will be filled through MH-CET.
ii) For B.Ed.(HI) at AYJNIHH, Mumbai and AYJNIHH, Kolkata entrance examination will be held at both the centers. Candidates appearing for final year degree in 2008 can also apply.
iii) Admission to B.ASLP course at SRC, Secunderabad will be made on merit basis.
iv) For Ph.D. programme in Audiology and Speech - Language Pathology at Mumbai, B.ASLP and M.ASLP at AYJNIHH SRC, Secunderabad and BASLP at AYJNIHH, NRC, New Delhi the advertisement will be released separately.
v) For fees and other information refer to prospectus/website.
vi) Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/PH as per Govt of India rules.
vii) **Candidates appearing in Class 10 + 2 in 2008 can also apply.
viii) Applications received after the last date and incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
ix) * Seats for foreign candidates.
x) Admission to Diploma courses will be made on merit basis.
xi) The Director has all the authority to reject any application without assigning reasons.
xii) Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.

4) LAST DATE FOR ISSUE AND RECEIPT OF APPLICATION FORM WILL BE 30 DAYS FROM THE RELEASE OF ADVERTISEMENT
