Eligibility: For Ph.D. Programmes

All candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have to possess requisite marks/grades in qualifying examination as indicated below:

60% marks (or equivalent grade point average) in the qualifying examination in Engineering/ Science/Commerce/Management or

55% in Humanities or Social Sciences (or equivalent grade point average).

For Doctoral Programme: Candidates aged 35 years or less having a Ph.D. Degree in the respective fields.

Application procedure: Application form, downloadable from www.iitkgp.ac.in , should be sent to the Assistant Registrar (PGS&R), IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur-721302 (W.B.) along with a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of "IIT Kharagpur" on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur. Application form may also be obtained from the Academic (PGS&R) Section, IIT, Kharagpur against a demand draft on every working day.

ELIGIBILITY: B.Tech/BE/B.Arch/B.Pharm/M.Sc. or equivalent degree (qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE, e.g. AMIE) with a valid GATE score. NET qualified applicants could be eligible for admission to MCP (visit http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mtech for details). Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Govt. of India rules. Reservation for OBC candidates would be implemented as and when government orders for the same are issued.

SELECTION: Except for sponsored candidates, selection is strictly based on GATE score. However, applicants with professional qualifications, those with XE/XL paper in GATE, and sponsored applicants with professional qualifications, those with XE/XL paper in GATE, and sponsored candidates who are short-listed, need to qualify through an interview and/or a test.

SPONSORED CANDIDATES: An applicant employed in an industry or any other recognized organization/institution with at least two years of experience will be eligible for admission to the M.Tech/MCP provided the applicant is sponsored by the employer. The applicant should have scored at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Master’s degree holders in Arts or Social Science subjects) in the qualifying degree examination. For sponsored applicants GATE score is not mandatory and they are not eligible for assistantship.

ASSISTANTSHIP: Applicants admitted on the basis of GATE score are eligible for assistantship of Rs.5000/- per month.

APPLICATION FEE: The application fee is Rs.300/- (Rs.150 for SC/ST Candidates)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application for M.Tech/MCP programmes is to be submitted only by an ONLINE process (Internet based by accessing the website gate.iitkgp.ac.in.mtech from 27 March 2008 to 27 April 2008. The candidate should first pay the Application Fee by obtaining a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE application form. Candidates are required to take a print of the ONLINE application form after successful submission of data. The printed form, with candidate’s signature and photograph pasted at appropriate place and the Demand Draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach by 30 April 2008 to The Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721302.

Objectives Of The Course
"Intelligence Quotient (IQ) gets you hired but Emotional Quotient (EQ) gets you promoted". This popular quote by Times Magazine during late Nineties has made the concept of emotional intelligence more popular among people by highlighting its multiple implications and applications. The uses and utility of emotional intelligence in home, school and workplace have benefitted thousands in many disciplines. This course is designed to sensitise the participants about the concept, theory and applications of emotional intelligence. The participants will get to know the added advantage of EQ-the software of the brain over the hardware (IQ). This programme will also explore how our hearts rule over our heads for creative creation. It will also focus on how various principles of emotional intelligence guide us in different contexts of life. The awareness about the credo of emotional intelligence will develop insights into self-regulation and realization of one's optimum potentials for better performance. The participants will come to know about many unknowns of life, which will further help them to enhance their awareness to be effective on their roles. The course will offer useful lessons with the help of practical exercises, games, audio-visual instruments, case studies, classroom interaction to show the road map how to foster emotional intelligence in organisation for achieving optimal performance.

A couple of young and innovative faculty from IITKGP will also be involved to share their creative thoughts and academic-industry experience to light up this programme.

Eligibility
Emerging scholars, counsellors, and consultants having interest in OB/HRD/HRM are eligible. Executives at all levels with experience in the HR functions will find this programme very enlighting and useful. However, Teachers, Trainers and Managers will extract maximum from this course and will find this programme more educative and thought provoking.

Course Fees: Rs. 7500/-
Course fees cover accommodation, lodging and course materials. Course fees are to be paid by bank draft drawn in favor of 'CEP-STC, IIT Kharagpur' payable at Kharagpur.
