VERTICALLY INTEGRATED ENGINEERING PROGRAMME (VIEP),B.Tech./ Diploma Admissions

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites applications for VERTICALLY INTEGRATED ENGINEERING PROGRAMME (VIEP). This Programme allow students who have passed the 10th Standard, 12th Standard Examinations and also those who already hold ITI certificates, Diploma, B.Sc., BCS, BCA or equivalent, to pursue a higher qualification starting from Advanced Certificate, Diploma and going up to Bachelor’s Degree in Technology.

The programme will commence from January 2010 preceded by an Induction / Bridge Trimester between October-December-2009.

10+2 pass (PCM) or equivalent

For B.Tech. (Lateral Entry to 2nd Year) Programmes:

Admission to IGNOU – SAPET Engineering programme shall be through an all India aptitude test “IGNOU ENGINEERING APTITUDE TEST (IGNEAT 2009)”


IGNEAT 2009 intends to assess the Analytical Aptitude of a candidate for Engineering Studies. Aptitude tests are special kind of ability tests intended to predict success of a person in a specific occupation or training course.

It shall ascertain the level of performance that can be expected from a candidate having particular qualification.

IGNEAT is an Online Aptitude examination which reduces the examination stress on a candidate and simplifies the entire process of examination.

ADMISSION NOTICE FOR PG DIPLOMA IN ACUPUNCTURE (PGDACP)


Indira Gandhi National Open University invites application for admission to one year ONLINE PG Diploma Programme in Acupuncture (PGDACP). This programme has been developed in collaboration with Institute of Acupuncture and Natural Medicines (IANM) New Delhi.


Medical graduates (Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy) are eligible for this programme. The fees for this ONLNE PROGRAMME is Rs.20000/- and the LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION OF FILLED-IN APPLICATION FORM IS 31-10-2008.


The programme Study Centres for practical training are currently available at Delhi, Chennai, Hubli (Karnataka), Indore, Kota (Rajasthan), Howrah (W.B), Rourkela (Orissa) and Thiruvananthapuram.

Launching of Online PG Diploma Programme in Acupuncture


Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) launched a new academic programme in the field of Acupuncture in collaboration with the Institute of Acupuncture & Natural Medicines (IANM) New Delhi, announced Prof. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, VC, IGNOU. The PG Diploma in Acupuncture will commence from November, 2008, he added.


The course is intended to strengthen the Acupuncture in general. It shall help graduates of different system of medicine to learn a new modality of therapy and utilize it for patient benefit in treating acute and chronic diseases. The programme can be completed in a minimum period of 1 year and a maximum period of 3 years and is available to the Medical graduates (Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy)



For the first time a medical programme will be offered online with contact sessions for practical training. Internal assessment will be done through online tests / examination and term-end examination. Acupuncture is a traditional method of therapy which is very well recognized world over and well accepted by the people as it does not have any side effects. This method has been found to be useful in all types of diseases specially the chronic diseases. Moreover the cost of the treatment is less as compared to the other systems of medicine. Because of its broad based content the course will be of relevance to those aspiring to make a career in Acupuncture


The entire theoretical component will be online and for practical training, the doctor can opt for any of 8 centres in India nearer to him/her. These centres are located at New Delhi, Calcutta ( W. Bengal), Indore( M.P.), Chennai( Tamil Nadu), Hubli ( Karnataka), Kota ( Rajasthan), Rourkela (Orissa), Thiruvanathapuram ( Kerala).

ADMISSION NOTICE

B.Sc. (NAUTICAL SCIENCE) – AUGUST 2008 SESSION


Indira Gandhi National Open University and the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Mumbai announce admissions in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme commencing on 1st August 2008. This programme of IGNOU has been developed in collaboration with the DGS and is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented education and training so as to help them become officers in the Merchant Navy.

The eligibility conditions are:
(A) Educational (1) 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate from a recognized Board OR with Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B. Sc with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc. from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college/ University recognized by AICTE/ UGC/ DEC. And (2) Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree course, conducted by a Board or University. [Note: Those appearing in educational eligibility qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria on or before the commencement of the programme and produce the certificates to that effect.]
(B) Age (As on 1st August, 2008): Not more than 20 years in case of 10+2 pass, 22 years in case of B.Sc. Degree and 24 years in case of B.E./B.Tech. The age limit is relaxable by 2 years for female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
(C) Physical and Medical Standards: Medically fit as per the standards prescribed by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000, and Eye sight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and normal colour vision. [Note: The candidates are advised to get them medically examined so as to avoid any last minute embarrassment.]

Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test (OPENNET) to be held on 15th June, 2008 (Sunday) 10AM – 1 PM.

Reservation in number of seats shall be as prescribed by the Government of India. For further details please refer to the Student Handbook and Prospectus. As per the latest guidelines issued by the DG Shipping, Mumbai, it is now mandatory for all the candidates to qualify in OPENNET to seek admission in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme of IGNOU-DGS, irrespective of whether their candidature is sponsored by a Shipping Company/ Manning Agents or not.

Last Date of submission of Application: 27th May, 2008.

The Programme will be offered through selected Training Institutes approved by DGS and IGNOU. Details of these Institutes are available in the Students Handbook and Prospectus.

The Prospectus can be obtained from IGNOU headquarters, New Delhi on weekdays during working hours on payment of Rs.100/- in cash from 25th April, 2008 or downloaded from IGNOU website i.e. http://www.ignou.ac.in. The filled-in Application form (Form-A) along with the requisite fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.600/- in case of downloaded forms) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at Delhi should reach in an envelope super-scribed “Application form for B.Sc. (Nautical Science)” to the Registrar (SR&ED), Block-12, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110068 on or before the last date of submission of applications.

There shall be Two live interaction sessions with the prospective candidates on Gyan Darshan-2 TV Channel (the Teleconferencing channel of IGNOU) on 27th April 2008 (Sunday) 12:00 -13:45 PM & 12th May 2008 (Monday), 12:00 -13:45 PM. This channel is available on Doordarshan’s Free DTH service and Zee’s DishTV DTH (Channel no. 1590). The candidates, employing shipping companies and their manning agents, Training Institutes can ask their questions on All India Toll-Free no. 1800-11-2345 (from MTNL and BSNL landlines) during the interaction. Nautical Adviser to the Govt. of India, Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, Capt. K.S.
