JNCASR invites applications for admission to M.S./Ph.D programmes in Science and Engineering for the session commencing from 1 January 2014.

Ph.D :

Chemistry and Physics ofi Materials Unit.

Engineering Mechanics Unit.

Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit.

Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit.

M.S(Engg.):

Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit.

Engineering Mehanics Unit.

M.S(Research):

Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit.

Eligibilty for Ph.D:

Candidates with an M Sc., B E, B Tech, M E, M Tech or MBBS are eligible to apply. They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / UGC -/ CSIR - NET-JRF / ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF/JEST / INSPIRE or any other equivalent national level examination.

No fee is involved to apply for these programmes.

Keep the details/particulars/copy of Xth Std / XIIth Std / Bachelor's / Masters qualification certificates / marksheets and particulars of with you before starting to fill the online application.

Keep the particulars of GATE/JEST/INSPIRE or DBT/ICMR-Jrf or NET-JRF under CSIR/UGC fellows scheme(like the registration number, rank, etc. as applicable)

Select the National entrance test which you have qualified,the certificate of such test should have the validity period for seeking admission to Research program as on 1st January 2014

If qualified in GATE 2012 and 2013 give your Roll Number,Rank and the Marks (out of 100)

If qualified in CSIR-UGC NET for JRF conducted during Dec 2012/June 2013,select accordingly from the drop down menu and give the Roll Number and Rank\

If qualified in DBT JRF 2013 give the Roll Number and Rank/ marks

If qualified in ICMR JRF 2013 give the Roll Number Rank/marks

If qualified in JEST mention the year,Roll number and rank/marks(out of 100)

MTech/ME candidates can enter the details of the entrance examination cleared for joining the programme

Important Dates:

Interviews will be scheduled from 9th to 13th December 2013

Eligibility for applying:
Academic requirements: * Students who have secured not less than 80% in their 10th , 12th(10 +2) and not less than first class in graduation and post graduation(if applicable).

Students presently studying in I, II and III year of B.Sc., B.V.Sc., MBBS, B.Pharm, I & II year of M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc I-V year , II and III year of B.E and B.Tech., with the above mentioned academic requirements can apply.

The students selected under this programme are placed with scientists at the Centre or elsewhere in India, for 2 months with a stipend of Rs. 5000 /- p.m and travel support as per Govt. of India norms.

Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Materials Science 2008-2009

Applications for admission to the Integrated Ph.D programme in Materials Science of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research are invited. Candidates will be selected through a written entrance test based on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics followed by an oral examination for those who are shortlisted. Students with Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science are eligible to apply. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. A minimum of 55% marks is one of the requirements. Candidates who are appearing for the final examination this year can also apply. Selected students will receive a fellowship as per approved guidelines of the Centre.

ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT: 2008-2009

Application Forms and Prospectus for admission to the following programmes of suty are being Issued by the University from 1st February 2008.

Category ‘A’ (Through Entrance Examination) – M.Phil/Ph.D., Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D., MPH/Ph.D. and M.Tech/Ph.D., M.A., M.Sc., MCA., and B.A. (Hons.) in Foreign Languages.

Category ‘B’ – Direct Admission to Ph.D. Programme.

Category ‘C’ – M.Phil/Pre-Ph.D/Ph.D. in Science Schools (only JRF Holders).

Entrance Examination for admission to various programmes fo study under Category ‘A’ will be held between 15th and 18th 2008 in 51 cities in India and also in Kathmandu (Nepal). Admission under Category ‘B’ and Category ‘C’ will be held through viva-voce only.

Seats of Application Form and Prospectus can be had (i) either personally from the Counter in the Administrative Block of the University cash payment of Rs.120/- per set from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm on all working days (Monday to Friday); or (ii) through post by sending crossed Bank Draft (valid for six months i.e. atleast upto 15-07-2008) for Rs.200/- in favour of JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed (unstamped) envelop of the minimum size of 30cmsx25cms. Clearly indicating the Category for which the Application Form is required on the self-addressed envelop to the Assistant Registrar (Admissions), Room No.28, Admission Branch, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067. Money Orders and cheques are not accepted.
