ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT – 2008

1. MASTER OF SCIENCE, POST MASTERS DIPLOMA & P.G. DIPLOMA COURSES:
Issue of application forms starts on 15th January, 2008
Last Date for issue of application forms by post: 20th March, 2008
Last date for issue of application forms from Institute’s counter: 31st March, 2008
Last date for receiving completed application forms: 7th April, 2008
Date of Admission Test: 18th May, 2008
The dates may be changed at the discretion of the University authorities.

(a) M.Sc Forestry (25 seats):
Eligibility: Three years Bachelor’s degree in science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

(b) M.Sc Wood Science & Technology (25 seats):
Eligibility: Three years Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or B.Sc. degree in Forestry.

(c) M.Sc. Environment Management (25 seats):
Eligibility: Three years Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE/B.Tech in Environment Science.

(d) Post Masters Diploma in Natural Resource Management (15 seats)
Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: M.Sc in any discipline.

(e) Post Masters Diploma in Natural Resource Management (15 seats)
Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: M.Sc in Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Chemistry.

(f) P.G. Diploma in Pulp & Paper Technology (10 seats):
Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: B.Sc. in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects.

2. PERCENTAGE OF MARKS ( in the qualifying examination):
Candidates having 50% or above marks in general category and 45% marks for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes may apply.

3. CENTRE OF EXAMINATION: (i) Dehra Dun (ii) Jabalpur (iii) Bangalore (iv) Chandigarh (v) Kolkata (vi) Delhi (vii) Lucknow (viii) Jodhpur (ix) Shimla (x) Ranchi (xi) Coimbatore and (xii) Jorhat.

4. RESERVATION:
Out of the above following seats are reserved for: (a) SC/ST: 15% and 7.5% respectively (b) Reservation to OBC: will be provided as per the policy of GOI (c) Handicapped (without mobility restriction & partial deafness): One seat in two courses M.Sc. Forestry, M.Sc. Environment Management (d) ICFRE Employee: 5 seats in each M.Sc. Environment Management & PMD Natural Resource Management courses only.

5. HOW TO APPLY:
Information Bulletin and application form canbe obtained by post by submitting a Bank Draft for Rs.600/- (Rupees Six hundred only) payable at Dehradun in favour of Registrar, FRI University, P.O.IP.E., Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun-248195.

Application Forms will also be available from the counter of the Union Bank of India (FRI Brach, Dehra Dun). For details please refer to “Information Bulletin” 2008. A candidate who wants to apply two or more courses has to full up separate form for each course. Application forms may also be downloaded form the website www.icfre.org / www.fri.res.in

The Council has 8 research Institutes and 4 advanced Centres in various parts of the country to cater to the research needs of different bio-geographical regions of the nation. These are located at Dehra Dun, Shimla, Jabalpur, Jodhpur, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Jorhat, Ranchi, Allahabad, Chhindwara, Hyderabad and Aizwal.
