Applications are invited for:
1. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING (PGDIE) 38th BATCH (2008-2010)
This two-year programme develops Industrial Engineers as Technology Management experts for both manufacturing and service sectors. The programme covers subjects such as Supply Chain Management, Six Sigma, Operations Management, Project Management, Logistics, BPR, ERP and Software Engineering.

Eligibility & Selection: GATE qualified 1st Class Engineering/ Technology graduates in any branch. GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship. Admission based on Group Discussion and Interview with appropriate weightage given to GATE score. Selection of Industry Sponsored candidates with First Class Degree in Engineering/ Technology (with a minimum of 2 years industry experience) is through personal interview only. GATE score is not required for Sponsored candidates.
SC/ST candidates are grated financial assistance as per the scheme of Govt. of India vide letters No.11016/19/2005-SCD-I dated 21.6.2007 & No. 19012/36/05-Education dated 27.6.2007 subject to the satisfactory fulfillment of terms and conditions mentioned therein.

2. FELLOW (DOCTORAL) PROGRAMME (FP)
Areas: Organizational Behaviour, Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Operations Management, Economics, Operations Research, IT, Ergonomics, Safety and Environment Management.
The programme aims to admit, in the above areas of specialization, the individuals with sound academic background, strong motivation and potential to become excellent researches at national and international level. Applicants are evaluated on their past academic achievements, motivation and preparation for the programme, seminar presentation on the area of his/her research interest and personal interview.

Eligibility & Selection: Master’s Degree or equivalent with in Engineering / Technology, Management, Economics, Social Sciences, Biological Science and Pure Science with First Class will be considered for admission to Fellow (Doctoral) Programme. Those appearing for their final examination in the respective disciplines can also apply Selection is based on the presentation on the tentative research proposal followed by Personal Interview.
Industry Sponsored candidates with above eligibility and a minimum of two years experience at executive level can also apply under external category. They will have to stay in the campus for a year to undergo full-time course work.

Financial Support & Fees: Financial assistance is provided to all candidates for four years except for external category.
Reservation and 5% relaxation on 1st Class % marks are applicable to SC/ST/PD candidates as per Govt. of India rules for both the programmes.

For both the programmes reservation of OBC candidates will be as per the Government of India rules. Fulfillment of minimum qualifications is not an automatic claim for Group Discussion, Interview etc.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING (NITIE)- MUMBAI ADMISSION NOTICE FOR ADMISSION TO PGDIE and Fellow (Doctoral) Programme (FP)

Admission For PGDIE and FP

1. Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE)
This two programme develops Industrial Engineers as Technology Management experts for both manufacturing and service sectors. The programme covers subjects including supply Chain Management, Six Sigma, Operations, Project Management, Logistics, BPR, ERP and Software Engineering. PGDIE is one of the very few courses that enjoy corporate excellence for over three decades. The programme focuses on SCM, IT and Systems,Marketing, Finance and HR Management. PGDIE has evolved as a course for developing Managers with cross- functional skills.

Eligibility and Selection: GATE qualified 1st Class Engineering/ Technology graduates in any branch. GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship. Admission is based on group discussion and interview with appropriate weight age given to GATE score. Selection of industry sponsored candidates with first class degree in Engineering/ Technology (with a minimum of 2 years industry experience) is through personal interview only-no GATE score is required.

2. Fellow (Doctoral) Programme (FP)
Admission to the Fellow Programme shall normally be made once a year, coinciding with that of Post graduate Programme in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) of NITIE. Accordingly, the advertisement will be made along with that of PGDIE in February.

Eligibility and Selection: First class Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Business Management/ Commerce/ Social Sciences/ Humanities (full time course). Selection will be on the basis of academic qualifications, experience and seminars presentation on selected area of research and interview. Direct candidates will get scholarship as per rules. NET qualified candidates can also apply. External candidates have to stay in the campus for a year to undergo full time course work. For industry-sponsored candidates, a minimum of two years experience at Executive level is required.

Application Procedure:
The application shall be made in the prescribed form available with the Institute. Attested copies of all the necessary certificates and testimonials are to be attached with the application. The candidate must submit a write-up of about 500 words on the area of research interest (tentative research proposal) along with his/her application.

Selection Criteria:
Selection for the Fellow Programme will be on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Academic qualification and work experience
2. Tentative research proposal and its presentation before the selection committee
3. Personal interview
The decision of the selection committee regarding admission shall be final. Communication will be sent only to the selected candidates. The Institute will not entertain any queries or correspondence in respect of those not selected.
