Government of India has decided to start



MASTERS PROGRAMMES IN PHARMACOLOGY AND TOXICOLOGY AND PHARMACY PRACTICE


at NIPER, guwahati from the current academic session. The Courses will be held at the temporary location of the mentor institute i.e. GUAHATI MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL, GUWAHATI.

Admission to the Masters Programmes with monthly fellowships of Rs.5000/- for these Programmes will take place through a Counseling to be held at NIPER, Sector-67, S.A.S. Nagar, (Mohali), Punjab on 1st (Friday) August, 2008 at 2.00 pm on the basis of merit list of the entrance examination conducted on June 8, 2008 and notified by NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar on Website: www.niper.gov.in
Details about these Masters Programmes, distribution of seats, fees etc., to be paid by Demand Draft favouring Director, NIPER, payable at Mohali/ Chandigarh, may be seen on the website of NIPER.
Candidates already admitted to NIPER, Ahmedabad, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and S.A.S. Nagar for the current session are not elilible to participate in the counseling for admission to NIPER, Guwahati.

With the implementation of reservation in admission under the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admissions) Act, 2006 (No. 5 of 2006) in respect of persons belonging to socially and educationally backward classes (OBCs), NIPER invites applications from the eligible OBC candidates who does not belong to the ‘creamy layer’ as provided in OM No. 36012/22/93-(SCT), dated 8th September, 1993 of the Department of Personnel and Training [amended vide OM No. 36033/3/2004-Estt. (Res) dated 9th March, 2004] (Copy of the order can be see on their website www.niper.gov.in/niperjee2008.html ) Ministry of Personnel, Public Grivances and Pension, and who have not applied earlier for admission to M.S. (Pharm.); M.Pharm., M.Tech.(Pharm.); M.B.A. (Pharm.) programme from the Academic Session 2008-09. The OBC candidates applying under the category must produce a certificate issued by the appropriate authority to the effect at the time of counselling/GD and Interview.

Interested OBCs candidates who have not applied earlier may submit duly filled in application form by 21st May 2008 to Chairperson, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Sector – 67, S.A.S. Candidates should have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 60% marks) for General, 6.25 (or 55% marks) for SC/ST, 5.75 (or 50% marks) for physically handicapped (PH) candidates on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination and should also have qualified GATE/NET. Percentage of marks or CGPA shall be calculated taking the aggregate scored by the candidate in all years or as per the norms of the concerned university/Institute etc. A limited number of seats are available for officially sponsored candidates from the Govt. Department/P.S.U./R&D organisations with minimum of 2 years experience. GATE/NET is an essential qualification for all disciplines except for the following category of candidates:-

Candidates holding M.V.Sc. / M.D. degree

Foreign nationals:
Sponsored candidates from Public/Private Sector undertakings, Govt. Departments and Research and Development Organizations.

General Instructions:

1. Details of eligibility, qualifications, distribution of seats, admission procedure and other relevant information are available in the Information Brochure and also in the Institute’s website www.niper.gov.in.
2. Candidates appearing for final qualifying examinations (including NET-JRF) can also apply but they must produce final result on the day of Interview failing which their candidature shall be rejected.
3. Information Brochure cum Application form can be obtained in person or by post from the office of the Registrar, on submission of non refundable Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/-(Rs.500/- for SC/ST) payable at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali)/Chandigarh in favour of “Director, NIPER” along with Two duly typed self-addressed Slips (10 cms X 6 cms). Indian nationals residing abroad and foreign nationals have to remit US$100 by Bank Draft payable to “Director, NIPER”. Payment by cheque/Postal Order will not be accepted. Candidates desirous of obtaining Information brochure by post should clearly mention name of the programme on the envelope carrying the request letter.
4. Candidates will have to make their own arrangements for travel and boarding for attending test and interview.
5. Filled in applications should be sent to Registrar, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, (NIPER), Sector 67, S.A.S.Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, 160062, so as to reach on or before 28th April 2008. The Institute shall not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. Applications received after the due date shall not be considered. No correspondence/ inquiry will be entertained.
6. Written test for all disciplines will be held on Sunday, the 6th July, 2008, at NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) has been created as Centre of Excellence in imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences and is the first Institute of its kind in country. The Institute was declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on 26th June 1998. The Institute is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Common wealth Universities.

In the year 2007 Government of India established four more NIPERs at the following locations with the help of mentor Institutes:
