ADMISSION NOTICE
for two year Post-Graduate Degree Programmes for 2008 - 2009

Programmes offered:
I. Master of Technology in Human Resource Development [M.Tech. (HRD)]
II. Master of Engineering Education [M.E.Ed.]

Eligibility: B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engineering) or its equivalent as approved by the University of Madras.

Prospectus with Application forms can be obtained from the Director, NITTTR, Chennai -600 113 on payment of Rs.400/- (Rs.200/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST communities) through Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Director, NITTTR, Chennai payable at Chennai.

The last date for receipt of filled in application .. 04.06.2008.

TTTI, Chennai has been established by the Government of India, through the then Ministry of Education and Culture for developing technician education. The Institute started functioning from 1966 at Taramani Campus. The name of the Institute has been changed to National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research in 2004. The Institute plans to offer the following long-term programmes in 2008 – 2009:

1· Master of Technology (Human Resource Development) [M.Tech. (HRD)].
2· Master of Engineering Education [M.E.Ed.].

M.Tech. (HRD) degree programme and Master of Engineering Education (M.E.Ed.) will be affiliated to the University of Madras.

M.Tech. (HRD) programme has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi in 1998 and the First Batch has been admitted in the Academic year 2000 – 2001, the Second Batch in 2001 – 2002, the Third Batch in 2002 – 2003, the Fourth Batch in 2007 – 2008 and the Fifth Batch will be started in 2008 – 2009.


PROGRAMME UTILITY:
This four semester programme is unique in India. It aims to develop professionals to organize HRD programmes in Technical Institutes like Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges, IITs, NITs, Technical Universities, Manufacturing and Service Sector, IT Sector, Public Sector undertakings, and Recruitment and Consultancy Agencies in HRD.

The programme has been prepared to provide adequate skills in HRM and HRD like recruitment, selection, orientation, performance appraisal, planning, development and implementation of training programmes, preparation of training packages using print and electronic media. There will be adequate exposure to corporate training centres. There is a heavy demand for this programme in Indian Technical Education and as well as in HRD aspects of Government and fast growing IT and Service Sector.


NOTE TO THE CANDIDATES:
The seats which are not utilized by the State Directorates of Technical Education will be offered to open candidates. Selection will be based on merit, and one aptitude test (written).
Enclose all attested copies of certificates from SSLC, +2, B.E./B.Tech./AMIE/ or Equivalent, provisional pass certificate* or, degree, mark sheet, conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied, transfer certificate, social status in case of SC / ST and certificate from the designated medical authorities for the physically challenged persons.


MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY (Human Resource Development)

COURSE STRUCTURE
1. DURATION: 16.07.2008 to 30.04.2010 (4 Semesters)
2. NATURE OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants holding a Degree in Engineering (B.E.) or Technology (B.Tech.) or its equivalent as recognized by University of Madras, Chennai
3. GOALS OF THE PROGRAMME:
* Develope appropriate model(s) for planning and development of programmes which are relevant to the resolution of the issues confronting HRD in technical education / Corporate Sector / Govt. Departments to improve its efficiency and effectiveness and future capabilities of the system, considering advances due to globalization of Indian Economy.

* Analyse the issues, models and methodologies for designing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum of HRD programmes vis-à-vis the needs of the system.

* Generate dependable and workable solutions to problems in such areas as needs analysis, programme planning, courseware development, and organizing human resource development programmes to meet the demands of various sectors of government, industries and services.

* Evolve procedures for review, evaluation, and development of policies in HRD in Government / Organized Sectors / technical education sector in order to bring about qualitative improvements in HRD.

* Develope models for HRD in Indian Industries / Institutions and develop specialists to undertake various functions in HRD in these industries / institutions.


MASTER OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION (M.E.Ed.)
COURSE STRUCTURE
1. DURATION : 16.07.2008 to 30.04.2010 (4 Semesters)
2. NATURE OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants holding a Degree in Engineering [B.E. / B.Sc. (Engg.)] or Technology (B.Tech.) or its equivalent as recognized by the University of Madras
3. GOALS OF THE PROGRAMME:
Evolve procedures for formulation, review and evaluation of policies in technical education system vis-à-vis national and international developments in order to bring about qualitative improvement in the structure and standards.

Evaluate the suitability of the models of management and administration relevant to the resolution of the issues confronting technical education to improve its effectiveness and future capabilities of the system.

Analyse the issues, models and methodologies for designing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum of a technical education programme vis-à-vis the needs of the system.

Arrive at dependable and workable solutions to problems in such areas as teaching-learning, curriculum implementation, management of learning, examination, planning, administration following the principles, methodologies and approaches of Educational Research.

STIPEND
There is no provision for stipend from the institute for the industry sponsored candidates. If the open competition students apply for external stipends under GATE, or scholarships offered by various Ministries of State or Central or Private Trusts the Institute will recommend the candidates. The government sponsored teacher participants will be paid fellowship as per the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India regulations. For overseas participants the Institute will assist them to receive fellowship / stipend as stipulated by the sponsoring agencies

The NITTTR, Chennai is one of the four National Institutes established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for training of technical teachers. The Institute is an autonomous organization under the administrative control of Board of Governors appointed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is an associated centre of Asian Programme for Educational Innovations for Development of UNESCO Principal Office, Bangkok, Thailand; Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education, Manila, Philippines. The Institute has successfully completed many International Projects under World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNESCO, CIDA, SIDA, DANIDA and UNDP.

LOCATION
The Institute is located about one kilometer away from Dr. Dharmambal Government Polytechnic College for Women, Taramani and next to the TIDEL Software Park and opposite to Thiruvanmiyur MRTS Station at Taramani, Chennai – 600 113.

FACILITIES
Besides the Engineering Laboratories, the Institute has a well-equipped Library, wide range of computer facilities, Educational Technology Laboratory, Centre for Environmental Engineering, Education and Management, Multi-media Centre, CADD Suite, GIS Centre, CCTV Studio for Micro-teaching and an ETV Production Centre.

SELECTION SCHEDULE
Application in the prescribed form should be sent to the Director, National Institute of Technical Teachers Trainign and Research, Taramani, Chennai – 600 113 on or before 4th June 2008 (05.00 pm).
