POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL ENTOMOLOGY (PGDME) COURSE

Applications are invited for admission into the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Entomology (PGDME) Course for the year 2008-2009.
Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Entomology is offered by VCRC since 1997. The curriculum of the course is designed for capacity building in vectors and vector borne diseases and their control to impart the underlying techniques in entomological studies.

Click here for details on syllabus ADMISSION DETAILS:Applications are invited in the prescribed format (downloadable from the website) for admission to ONE year Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical Entomology (PGDME Course) upto 25th June, 2008. The PGDME course is affiliated to the Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. Separate hostel accomodation is available for Men and Women students.ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:Category - I(Open General - 5 seats of which 1 reserved for SC/ST). Candidates who have passed in I class (II class in the case of SC/ST) in one of the following examinations in 12+3+2 pattern of any University accepted by the Academic Council of Pondicherry University (i) M.S.c with Zoology or Biology as one of the subjects. (ii) M.Sc., with Life Sciences are eligible to apply.Category II(In-service - 5 seats): Candidates seeking admission under this category should be employed in either Government or Non-government agencies and sponsored by the employer. Such candidates should have passed in any class (i) B.Sc. (12+3 pattern) with Zoology or Biology as one of the subjects and must have put in 5 years of service or (ii) M.Sc. (12+3+2 pattern) in any class with Zoology or Biology as one of the subjects. The in-service candidates must forward their application with a "No Objection" or sponsorship certificate from their employer.METHOD OF SELECTION:Selection of the candidates belonging to category I as well as category II will be based upon their performance in the entrance test, which include a written test and viva-voce. Entrance test will be held only in Pondicherry , and the date will be intimated to the eligible applicants individually.HOW TO APPLY:The envelope containing the application should be superscribed as: "APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO PGDME" and sent by Registered Post to: The Officer-in-Charge, Vector Control Research Centre, Indira Nagar, Pondicherry 605 006.
