One Year Diploma Course in Archives and Records Management
Brief description: The Diploma Course aims at training candidates in various disciplines of Archival Studies viz. Archives Management, Public Records Management, Conservation of Archives and Library material & Technology for Archival Storage and Reproduction, Information and Communication Technology ( ICT) Practices in Archives, Business and Private Archives.

Time period : The duration of the training programme is one year: November-October.
Objective:
i) To produce highly competent professionals in the field of archives and records management as well as conservators.
ii) To understand the principles and methods of description of archival materials according to standards adopted by the archival community and to familiarize with various perspectives concerning the nature and purpose of archival description.
iii) To introduce the students to arrange of application of information technology in the management and preservation of archival documents.
iv) To make them acquaint with acquaint with the management of records.

Eligibility:
M.A. ( History preferably in Modern Indian History with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, from a recognized university)
Sponsored candidate should at least be a graduate
Foreign candidate should be graduate from a recognized university and their admission will be subject to approval by the Selection Committee
Below 30 years for private candidates and below 50 years for sponsored both Indian and Foreign

Financial and other form of help : Ten scholarships of the value of Rs.1500/- p.m. are awarded purely on the basis of merit. Of these scholarship one each are reserved for the reserve categories. Apart from this there is provision of six stipends @ Rs.1000/- each for sponsored candidates.

Application Fees: Application alongwith attested copies of educational qualification and Rs.100/- ( Rupees hundred only) and US$40 ( for foreign candidates) through crossed Indian Postal Orders/Bank Draft in favour of Administrative Officer, National Archives of India, Janpath, New Delhi-110001, as Registration fee for both private and sponsored candidates be sent to The Director General of Archives, National Archives of India, Janpath, New Delhi-110001. Sponsored candidates should apply through proper channel.

Other Fees: Rs.1500/-(Rupees one thousand five hundred only) and US$500 ( for foreign candidates) for both private and sponsored, ( non- refundable), to be paid at the time of admission.

List of enclosures/ documents: Attested Photocopy of all the mark –sheets, certificates, Degrees till post graduate level alongwith copy of birth certificate are to be enclosed alongwith application form.

Procedure of Application: Every year the advertisement of the course is published in the Employment News in the month of August with full details alongwith the format of application form.

Selection Procedure : Through aptitude test followed by an interview for private candidates. No test for sponsored candidates

Time Table for Training Programme: 1st November (every year) to 31st October (next year).
