The Prospectus and Application form can be obtained form the B.Ed. Study Centres and all Learning Resource Centres of TNOU or The Registrar, TNOU, in person on payment of Rs.500/- or by post sending a Demand Draft for Rs.550/- in favour of TNOU, payable at Chennai.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY
There is no Entrance Examination for B.Ed. Special Education this year.
The candidates should have passed the UG Degree Examination in the 10+2+3 stream or 11+1+3. Candidates who have a direct UG degrees (without +2 qualification) /Post-Graduate degrees (without a UG degree) are not eligible.
Teachers who possess teaching experience in a recognized school will be given preference.
Admission will be done based on the percentage of marks obtained at the UG Degree (excluding their language paper I & II).
Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to SC,ST, MBC/DNC, BC, OC communities and Handicapped (both physical and visual) will be made as per the rules and regulations of the Government of Tamilnadu.
In case, enough candidates are not available in the reserved category, the seats will be allotted to Open Category.
A total strength of seats for admission is 500. These candidates will be admitted to both Tamil medium and English medium based on the ranklist separately prepared for each medium.

DURATION AND MEDIUM
B.Ed. Special Education Programme (Distance Mode) is of 2 years. However the Student Teacher is permitted to complete within a maximum period of 4 years, after enrolment.
The medium of instruction is both Tamil and English. The students are allowed to prepare their assignments, practical records and take up the term-end examinations either in English or in Tamil.

Application forms can be obtained from The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Open University, DOTE Campus, Guindy, Chennai- 25 in person on payment of Rs. 500/- or by post sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 550/- in favour of Tamil Nadu Open University, payable at Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Open University, from the academic year 2008 onwards, introduces five new optional subject i.e. Special Tamil, Special English, Economics, Commerce and Computer Science.

B.Ed. General

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY:
Candidates who have passed the UG degree in the following subjects can apply for B.Ed. through distance mode: Tamil, Tamil literature, English, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Applied Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Botany, Environmental Science, Bio-Technology, Plant -Biology, Zoology, Micro-Biology, History, Geography, Applied Geography, Computer Science, Computer Application and Information Technology. Post Graduates in Economics, Commerce and Home Science can also apply.

In-Service teachers with 2 years full-time teaching experience in a Nursery / Primary/ Secondary/ Higher Secondary / Matriculation School in Tamil Nadu recognized by the State or Central Government can only apply.

Candidates having a direct UG degree (without +2 qualification) / candidates having a direct Post-Graduate degree (without a UG degree) are not eligible

The candidates should have passed the UG Degree Examination in the 10+2+3 stream or 11 + 1 + 3. However, after 10th standard, candidates who have undergone 2 years of secondary grade teacher training with U.G. Qualification are also eligible to apply.

Only the teachers in school service are eligible; others who are working in Colleges / ITI’s / Polytechnics are not eligible.

Two years teaching experience of a candidate in a recognized school outside Tamil Nadu shall also apply. However, such candidates must be in service in a recognized school in Tamil Nadu while applying.

Teaching experience in different schools will be taken into account for two years of service. There may be a break in the two years of teaching experience. But, the candidate must be currently working in a recognized School.

Candidates having a UG Degree in Economics/ Sociology / Philosophy / Psychology/ Political Science / Corporate Secretaryship / Commerce / Business Administration are not eligible.

Candidates having a Cross-Major Subject in PG Degree (that is, PG subjects different from UG subjects) are not eligible (For example, candidates with B.A Economics and M.A History).


HOW TO APPLY
The cost of Application form for Entrance Examination is Rs.500/-.
The application form can be obtained either in person or by post.

The Application form and Prospectus can be directly obtained in person either from the University office/B.Ed. Programme Study Centre/ Learning Resource Centre (LRC) by way of Cash / Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of “Tamil Nadu Open University” payable at Chennai.

The Application form and Prospectus can also be obtained by post but only from the Office of the Tamil Nadu Open University at Guindy, Chennai by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.550/- drawn in favour of “Tamil Nadu Open University” payable at Chennai.

Please write on the back side of the Demand Draft in capital letters the following details: Name of the Applicant, Programme, Address.
