B.Tech Lateral Entry Kerala: ADMISSIONS 2009-2010
LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram-695033 has invited applications for admission to the Second year/Third Semester B.Tech Courses under the Lateral Entry Scheme for Diploma holders, for 2009.
Those who have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education/Equivalent with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SEBC candidates whose annual family income does not exceed Rs.4.5 Lakhs. SC/ST applicants need only a pass in the qualifying examination. Those appearing for the final year Diploma examination are also eligible to apply subject to production of mark list at the time of admission.
Maximum age as on the last date of submission of application will be 28 years. Non-Keralites are also eligible to apply but their admission will be restricted to the Private Self financing Institutions and non-Government seats in the Government controlled Self financing institutions.
Candidates will be admitted only to the branch of Engineering as per the equivalency given in Annexure A of the Prospectus available at http://lbscentre.org/let09/let09.pdf.
Application fee is Rs.500/- for General candidates and Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates, which can be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram, from a Nationalised Bank. ST Candidates whose annual income is below Rs.40,000/- are exempted from paying application fee subject to production of income certificate for the same.
Applicants will have to first obtain the Demand Draft from a Nationalised Bank for the amount specified. A valid email address is also compulsory for successful registration. Applicants will have to then register for the test online at lbscentre.org/let09/regonline.htm and take the printout of the Registration Slip. The Conventional Application Form has to be downloaded from the website. Formats of certificates to be attached, like community certificate, income certificate (only for candidates seeking admission under community quota), nativity certificate (mandatory for all candidates) etc can also be downloaded.
The filled in application along with the Registration Slip received online at the time of Registration through LBS Website and other documents as required to be submitted as per the Prospectus/Website, should reach 'The Director, LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Extra Police Road, Nandavanam, Palayam, Trivandrum-695003', by Registered Post/in Person, in cover super scribed 'APPLICATION FOR LET-2009', latest by 25th May 2009.
Selection to the Programmes will be based on a State level Entrance Test of 2 hours duration to be conducted by LBS on 13th June, 2009 at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode. The Entrance Test will be on selected subjects of first year B.Tech course and English language as per the scheme and syllabus given in the Annexure-C of the Prospectus. Candidates should secure a minimum of 20% marks in the entrance test to become eligible for the inclusion in the rank list.
Admit Cards for the Examination are to be downloaded from website www.lbskerala.com or www.lbscentre.org between 5th and 12th June, 2009.
