POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (PGDIT 2008)
IIITM-K's PGDIT programme is one two-year duration with rigorous courseworm, practice, group activities, term papers and project internship. The course comprises three semesters of classes with 15 courses followed by one semester internship in reputed IT Industries, R&D Organizations or Institute's R&D projects. Admission to next batch now open. Classes commence on 1st April Auguest, 2008. Candidates short-listed shall be called for interview on 12th July, 2008.
ELIGIBILITY:
Bachelors Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Master's Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) with a minimum score of 60% marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates who are in the final year of the qualifying degree programme are also eligible to apply.
SCHOLARSHIP
IIITM-K has been chosen as an Institution of excellence by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for pursuing PGDIT program of two-year duration at IIITM-K. Scholarships are available to a maximum of 10 students belonging to Scheduled Castes and 5 students belonging to Scheduled Tribes. Scholarship covers tuition fee of Rs.1.5 lacs, Loading & boarding charges of Rs.2220 per month; books grant of Rs.3000 per annum and a lap top for the entire course of study.

Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai conducts two year post-graduate DRM programme and one year post-graduate DMRIT programme under the aegis of the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed to be University, Mumbai. These programmes equip candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training comprises a full time schedule of lectures, demonstrations, practicals, theory examinations, apprentice programmes and clinics. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme. The selection will be based on all India Common Entrance Test (CET) and interview.
PROGRAMME NO. I: DIPLOMA IN RADIATION MEDICINE (DRM)
DURATION OF TRAINING : Two Academic Years (2008-2010).
ELIGIBILITY : M.B.B.S. Degree including internship from a MCI recognized University. Candidates having post-graduate medical qualification may also apply. Candidates sponsored by Medical Institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment will compete for 5 seats.
NOTE: Sponsored candidates should furnish an employment certificate from the Head of Institution stating that their salary will be paid during the training period.
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : The CET will be Multiple Choice Questions and will have 100 questions at the III MBBS level. Fields covered will be Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pediatrics, Oncology), Infectious diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Recent Advances in Medicine. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50% in CET. However, only 50 candidates in order of merit (Descending order of marks scored in CET) will be interviewed. Final selection will be made on the basis of the performance in the interview of these shortlisted candidates.
STIPEND : Non-Sponsored candidates will be paid Stipend of Rs.7000/- p.m. in the 1st year and Rs.7250/- p.m. in the 2nd year during the Training course.
PROGRAMME NO. II : DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL RADIOISOTOPE TECHNIQUES (DMRIT)
DURATION OF TRAINING : One Academic Year (2008-2009)
ELIGIBILITY : B.Sc. Degree with 60% and above marks on aggregate of science subjects of a UGC recognised University with Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biophysics, B.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine Technology or B.Sc. (Medical Radiological Technology). Those having M.Sc. degree may also apply, but they will not have any preference in selection.
NOTE: Sponsored candidates with 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc. can apply and also should furnish an employment certificate from the Head of Institution stating that their salary will be paid during the training period and that they will be employed suitably following successful completion of the programme.
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : The CET will be Multiple Choice Questions and will have 100 questions on Science Subject of Standard XII. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50% in CET. However, only 50 candidates in order of merit (Descending order of marks scored in CET) will be interviewed. Final selection will be made on the basis of the performance in the interview of these shortlisted candidates.
STIPEND : Non-sponsored candidates will be paid Stipend of Rs.4,000/- p.m. during the Training course
COMMON FOR BOTH THE PROGRAMMES:
NUMBER OF SEATS : 10 (Ten) per Programme : 5 Sponsored and 5 Non-sponsored in each programme. If the required number of candidates in any one category (sponsored or non-sponsored) do not qualify, more candidates may be taken from other category. For DMRIT Programme, one seat is reserved for SC/ST/OBC candidate.
FEES : Enrollment Fee of Rs.4,000/- will be charged for the whole programme and shall be payable to HBNI. In addition a caution deposit of Rupees Two Thousand will have to be remitted by the selected candidates to BARC.
AGE LIMIT : Not more than 40 years as on 1st May, 2008 (Relaxable by 3 years in case of OBC candidates and 5 years in case of SC/ST and sponsored candidates).
ACCOMMODATION : The selected candidates may apply for hostel accommodation. They will have to pay for boarding and lodging. However, accommodation is not guaranteed.

NOTE : No traveling allowances will be paid for attending CET / Interview.
HOW TO APPLY :
1. A single copy of the application type written on thick foolscap paper in the prescribed format should be submitted and the envelop should be superscribed “D.R.M./D.M.R.I.T. Common Entrance Test", as the case may be.
2. PHOTOGRAPH : Two photographs (passport size) are required. One should be pasted on the top right hand corner of the application and the other, with name of the applicant written in block letters on the reverse, should be enclosed.
3. ENVELOPE : Attach a self addressed envelope (Size: 200 mm x 110 mm) alongwith the application, for the Common Entrance Test Admission Card.
4. COPIES OF CERTIFICATES : Attested copies of M.B.B.S. degree certificate & mark sheet should be enclosed for DRM programme and B.Sc. Degree (Convocation) Certificate & Marklist alongwith marksheet of Higher Secondary (XII Std.) for DMRIT programme.
5. NOTE : Persons working under the Central / State Government / Public Sector Undertaking should submit their applications through proper channel. They may however, send advance copy. Applications which are not in the prescribed form or are not accompanied by attested copies of certificates, photographs and self-addressed envelope of the prescribed size are liable to be rejected.
Selected candidates shall have to execute a personal bond towards the repayment of the stipend received in the event of their discontinuation of the course before its completion.

Women Scientist Fellowship Programme 2008:
The Fellowship Scheme for Women Scientists for societal programmes (WOS – B) is initiative of the department of science & technology. This scheme is meant for all those women having a burning desire to utilize their scientific acumen through active research and development projects which are aimed at meeting societal needs and aspirations.
Objectives:
Provide an opportunity for women scientists to re-enter into active research after a career break through support for S&T based R&D projects addressing the needs of people in unorganized urban or rural areas; and
Provide opportunity for S&T capacity building of women on issues relevant in societal programmes.
Project proposals could be for:
Research, development and adaptation of technology to improve the quality of life and provide additional opportunities for income generation in rural areas or urban slums;
Adaptation and transfer of an innovative technology from laboratory to field;
Capacity building of applicant in technology areas relevant to the needs in rural areas.
Nature of Support Provided:
Support will include a scholarship grant of Rs.15,000 per month for candidates with Ph.D., M.Tech., MS/MD and Rs.10,000 per month for candidates having post graduate degree for a period of two years.
Grant for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, travel and overheads will also be considered if found necessary under the work plan.
Qualifications:
Indian nationals living in India and who are currently not employed in permanent position and who possess one of the following qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in science, master’s degree in engineering or technology, architecture, medicine or pharmacy.
Who have break in career for at least three years or more after having masters degree in science or bachelor’s degree in engineering or medicine, architecture, or pharmacy.
Age: The applicant should be below the age of 50 years as on 15/02/2008.
Others:
1. Candidates selected for award of the fellowship are not expected to register for higher degree during the period of fellowship.
2. Candidates already having a regular jobs or fellowship will not be considered unless they advance cogent reasons for making the change. In such cases the application should be accompanied by a letter from the Head of the Institution agreeing to release the candidate.
The project proposal must show an active association with a field agency in regard to implementation of the project irrespective of the fact whether the candidate is attached to an educational institution or R&D institution or any other agency. A certificate from the host institution, where the project will be actually carried out extending infrastructural or administrative support for the project must be enclosed with the application. Similarly, a certificate from the identified field agency showing the agreement to get associated with the project is also required.
Duration: The scholarship will be given for duration of two years. The period may be extended to the third year in exceptional cases, if recommended by experts during periodic reviews.
Selection Mechanism: A committee of experts will be involved in the selection process. The two-tier selection process will be adopted involving initial screening and subsequent individual presentation by the screened-in candidates before a group of experts. The selected candidates will be informed by post. The list will also be posted on the web site of the Division.

ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMMES (2008-2009)
Applications in the prescribed forms are invited for admission to Ph.D. Programmes in the various disciplines of Agricultural Sciences.
ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks OR an overall grade point average (OGPA) of 7.50 out of 10.00 OR 3.75 out of 5.00 OR 3.00 out of 4.00 OR 2.25 out of 3.00 (For SC/ST/PH candidates: 55% marks or OGPA of 6.88 out of 10.00 OR 3.44 out of 5.00 OR 2.75 out of 4.00 OR 2.06 out of 3.00) in Masters Degree Programme.
In the universities where OGPA is awarded no equivalence of grades to percentage shall be considered for determining the eligibility qualification for appearing in the entrance examination. The percentage of marks shall be considered only for those candidates coming from universities that do not award grades but award percentage of marks.
The candidates who have appeared in the Master’s Degree examination in the year 2008 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission.

BY HAND: From Syndicate Bank, Pusa Campus, New Delhi-110012 on payment of Rs.500/- in cash for General/OBC Category and Rs.250/- for SC/ST/PH categories (+Rs.25/- as bank service charges).
BY POST: From Registrar (Academic), Post Graduate School, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-110012, by sending a Demand Draft of Rs.575/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.325/- for SC/ST/PH category, drawn on any bank, in favour of Registrar (Academic), Post Graduate School, IARI payable at Delhi.
Application form can be viewed/ downloaded from the website: http://www.iari.res.in which can be submitted complete in all respect along with the DD drawn in favour of Registrar (Academic), Post Graduate School, IARI payable at Delhi for Rs.500/- for Gen./OBC Category and Rs.250/- for SC/ST/PH. Candidates are also advised to keep themselves abreast with communication from the P.G. School over their e-mail Ids.
