PGDTM Programmes
Post Graduate Diploma in Textile Management (PGDTM)
The two year full time course (PGDTM) is designed to offer core management learning for textile professionals. Addressing the growing complexity and competition of textile business, this program provides the right synergy of technology and management aligned to the specific needs of textiles industry. The course runs through four semesters. The first two semesters comprise of fundamental management training with specific application in textiles industry. This is complemented with industrial interaction, seminars, projects etc. to develop and enhance the latent skills of the students. A summer project between the second and third semester provides needed practical exposure to industry and its functioning. The third semester takes the students through the advanced areas of textiles industry management. In the fourth and final semester students specialize in the functional areas and conduct an extensive industry based project. This provides thorough knowledge and understanding in specific domain.

Post Graduate Diploma in Apparel Management (PGDAM)
The two-year full time course (PGDAM) is oriented to the needs of fast growing apparel industry covering knitting and garment clusters in the country. Creating a cadre of specialized professionals with technical and managerial knowledge is the gist of this course. The course is divided into four semesters. The first semester deals with basic textiles, knitting technology and fundamentals of management. The second semester comprised of an advanced study of apparel, marketing, finance aspects of management interspersed with summer training. The third semester deals with study of Apparel Production Technology, Quality Control and Textiles, Management Information System, International Marketing and Entrepreneurship Development with two electives of their choice. The fourth semester, the students specializes in their field of interest like HR, Marketing, Production, IT and Fashion Management apart from two core courses on finishing in garment and textile costing. This provides a comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical facets of the apparel Industry.

Post Diploma in Home Textile Management (PDHTM)
The emerging International and Domestic Home Textiles market and India's abundant potential in the area, emphasizes the requirement of specialist which is growing in numbers. The one-year full time course is an ideal platform for those aspiring for a career in the home textile sector. In two modules, the course equips the students with extensive knowledge of the Home Textile Industry and Market. Core teaching of textiles, madeup’s and management augmented with in plant and field training and projects in production and other areas of Home Textile Industry, develops a strong cadre of Home Textile Management specialists ready to take on the world.

A relaxation in CGPA/marks to 6.25 (55%) is also available to those with M.A. Degree in English, for admission to Ph.D. in English. For admission to FT Ph.D. /M.Tech. /M.S. (R) programme, the Gate Score of a candidate wherever required should no be lower than the minimum prescribed viz. 300 for General and 200 for SC/ST/PH candidates. For admission to M.Des. Programme the candidates are required to have CEED score with the same Score. ABOUT IIT DELHI:
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the seven Institutes of Technology in India, the others being Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Guwahati and Roorkee. These Institutes have been created as centres of excellence for higher training, research and development in science, engineering and technology. Established as a College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was declared an Institute of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and renamed “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. Notice of Summer Research Fellowship Programme 2008

IIT Delhi has instituted a prestigious summer research fellowship programme for providing an opportunity to exceptionally good undergraduate students of different engineering institutes in India, other than IIT Delhi (and if possible, abroad) to execute an innovative research and development project under the guidance of an IIT Delhi faculty. The fellow will register at IIT Delhi as a casual student; she/he will not be required to pay institute registration fees.

About the Fellowship
Duration : The Fellowship work can be done in a period of 8-12 weeks which can be availed of during at most two visits.

Support :
The fellowship will cover the following:
(a) cost of travel in the country, to and from IIT Delhi;
(b) stay at IIT Delhi during the visit(s), including boarding and lodging in the Institute hostels; and
(c) a fellowship of Rs. 500/- per week.

The fellow will have to pay the insurance charges.

Eligibility
Any undergraduate student who has completed at least 2 years of study towards an engineering degree will be eligible to apply for this fellowship. Students who will be completing this requirement by May 2008 are also eligible.

How to apply
Application

(b) One consolidated grade card; and rank in class.

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum in 10+2+3 system), in any of following: (1) BCA, or (2) B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or (3) B.Sc. / B.A. with Mathematics or Statistics at graduate level. Candidates of B.Sc. / B.A. Honours must have minimum 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in average in their Honours subject. It is proposed to hold the MCA 2008 Online Entrance Test at the following Test Centres - Allahabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida, and Ranchi - provided there are sufficient number of candidates at each of the given Test Centres. In case the number of candidates opting for a given Test Centre is less than a certain minimum, the Institute reserves the right to shift candidates to the nearest alternative Centre.

Counselling: Counselling schedules of candidates will be based on their performance in the above Test and their choices of Place for Study, and will be notified about a week after the Test, on the Institute website and Notice Boards only. The counselling will be held in the second week of June 2008 at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Noida, Mesra and/or Lalpur, at the addresses given below. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. Candidates must visit our website occasionally for updates or any other matters related to the admission procedures.

Provisional selections for the MCA programme will be based on performance in the Online Entrance Test of such candidates who have applied, provided they satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned above, due consideration being given to their choice(s) of Place for Study made in their application forms. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to take admission by the date given, failing which vacant seats may be allotted to waitlisted candidates. The list of waitlisted candidates will also be announced on our website and Institute Notice Boards only. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. Candidates must therefore visit our website occasionally for updates or any other matters related to the admission procedures.

How to Apply:
The MCA 2008 Application Material including the Information Brochure 2008 can be obtained from all their Centres at the addresses given below
(a) In person from 19 March 2008 to 28 April 2008 on payment of Rs. 1,200/- and
(b) By post on payment of Rs. 1,300/- (All payments by crossed DD in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi). Postal requests must be received by 22 April 2008, and must include covering letter & two slips of paper (10x10 cm) with name, address in capitals and telephone number. To apply for the programme, eligible candidates may either (a) Fill in the printed form, available with the MCA 2008 Application Material, and send the completed form with 2 photographs and photocopies of all certificates, to reach the office of the Dean Admissions, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi 835215, by 5 May 2008, or
(b) Fill in the online application form on our website, and send a printout of the completed form with 2 photographs, crossed DD for Rs. 1,200/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, and photocopies of certificates by 5 May 2008, at the same address. On receipt of the completed form and DD, online applicants will be sent a copy of the MCA 2008 Application Material and Information Brochure 2008 for reference.

KIIT Law School under the aegis of KIIT University has been established on the pattern of National Law Schools, with comparable curricula but superior infrastructure and has been approved by the Bar Council of India. KIIT Law School invited application from candidates seeking admission into its five-year integrated B.A.LL.B, B.B.A.LL.B & B.Sc.LL.B Courses.

ELIGIBILITY
1. For B.A.LL.B, B.B.A.LL.B the candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent in any stream with at least 50% marks. For B.Sc.LL.B (hons) candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent in the science stream with at least 55% marks.
2. Not completed 21 years of age as on 1st July 2008.

SELECTION
Admission will be through KLSAT. The entrance test will be of two hours duration and 70% of the questions will be multiple choice type & remaining 30% will be of the short answer type to test Legal Acumen, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, Mathematical & Numerical Ability, General English and General Knowledge. The test will be held at 68 centres throughout India.

Application Form can either be submitted on prescribed form or made online through their website. Prospectus along with application form is available from University Counter and designated branches of Allahabad Bank on payment of Rs.700/- at University Counter and Rs.725/- at Bank Counters. ADMISSION NOTICE (PGDC CET 2008)

13TH Batch Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering (2008-09)

Recognised by “All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)” & covers mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity (Amendment) Rules,1981.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. Besides, the course shall enhance the knowledge and skills of the engineers sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities etc.

ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a modular type course of one year duration. Formal coaching is held at Regional Institutes of NPTI located at Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur, Durgapur and Neyveli. On job training is conducted at the nearby Thermal Power Stations and the training on state of the art simulator, at NPTI, Faridabad/Badarpur/Nagpur. The course profile covers the mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity Amendment Rules, 1981, which stipulates “No person shall be authorised to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognised Institute”.

ELIGIBILITY: B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Power/ Control & Instrumentation Engineering. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply. They must submit their result at the time of counseling.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Merit based on a Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counselling. CET will be held on 15.06.2008 at Delhi, Nagpur, Durgapur, Banglore and Neyveli.

AGE LIMIT : For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 31.8.2008 is 30 years. No age limit for the sponsored candidate.

TOTAL SEATS: 200 (Fifty seats at each Regional Institute). Reservation for SC/ST/Physically challenged as per Govt. of India Norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience and more than 65% marks in Engineering Degree.

PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI shall maintain close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of these trained engineers. Most of the students of previous batches were placed decently in reputed Power sector companies.
