Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institution within the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The research activity in the Institute centers around the areas of theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics, nuclear physics and high energy physics. The Institute conducts a one-year Pre-doctoral Program. The successful candidates join the doctoral program leading to Ph.D. degree.
The Institute invites application for One - Year Pre-Doctoral Program from GATE and CSIR - UGC Test (NET) qualified candidates, who satisfy the following criteria:
(A) M.Sc. Physics with minimum 55% marks (in aggregate)
(B) GATE qualifiers with score above 95 percentile, or, CSIR UGC Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship qualifiers within last one year.

Pre-Doctoral and Ph. D. Program
Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institution within the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The research activity in the Institute centers around the areas of theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics, nuclear physics and high energy physics. The institute has a large number of experimental facilities such as the 3MV Pelletron accelerator (and associated beam lines for carrying out RBS/Channeling, PIXE, AMS, Implantation, etc.), HRTEM, XPS, ARUPS, XRD, X-Ray Reflectometry & Standing Waves, micro-Raman, PL, FTIR, UV-VIS Spectrometer, SPM (in air) etc. In the 11th plan period more experimental facilities directly related to the emerging area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are expected to be added. The institute has been actively involved in international collaborations, notably among them are experiments in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions at CERN and BNL.
One of the important objectives of the Institute has been to train and guide young scholars for research in physics. For this, the Institute has regular one year Pre-doctoral (post M.Sc.) course work and Doctoral research programs for those who successfully complete the Pre-Doctoral course. The institute campus has hostels for the scholars.
The Predoctoral program is designed to train fresh M.Sc. students for conducting research activities. It is aimed at imparting a broad based training in advanced physics and research methodology. The course work is planned with the view that it should help a student not only in doctoral research, but also enable him/her to become a good physics teacher irrespective of whether or not he/she takes up doctoral research. The Pre-doctoral course runs from August to June every year. The successful candidates are awarded certificates for “Post-M.Sc. Course in Advance Physics” which has been recognized by the Utkal University, Berhampur University, and Sambalpur University as equivalent to their M. Phil degree.
On completion of the Pre-doctoral program, the students are eligible to join for research under the supervision of faculty members of the Institute, leading to the Ph.D. degree awarded by Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be university within the Department of Atomic Energy.
During the pre-doctoral and the first year of the Ph. D. program, students are placed in Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) grade and are paid Rs. 12,000/- p.m. fellowship. On satisfactory performance they are placed in Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) grade and paid Rs. 14,000/- p.m. fellowship. In addition there is a contingency grant to meet expenses on books and for domestic travel to attend conferences and workshops. The medical facilities are available on-par with the regular employees.
The Institute invites application for the Pre-doctoral Program from Indian nationals having the following qualifications: –
(A) M.Sc. Physics with minimum 55% marks (in aggregate).
(B) GATE qualifiers with score above 95 percentile, or,
CSIR – UGC Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship qualifiers within last one year.
Candidates appearing for the final semester/year of M.Sc., who have already qualified in GATE or CSIR – UGC (NET) can also apply. They should submit the relevant proof before joining the pre-doctoral program. In case of non-availability of the M.Sc. results at the time of joining, the admission will be treated as provisional.

The candidates will be called for interview at Institute of Physics in the last week of May 2008.
TA for the candidates attending interview will be reimbursed to & fro by shortest route in sleeper class including the reservation charges. Accommodation would be provided for the days of stay during the interview.
Final selection will be based on performance in the interview.

Admission to B.Sc./M.Sc. Nursing Courses for July 2008 session
The National Institute of Nursing Education was established in 1964 in Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh with the aim to bring primary health services within the reach of all individuals. The Nursing Institute is offering graduate and postgraduate degree courses in nursing. The institute is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh which awards of degrees after successful completion of the programme of studies and practical experience in the hospital and community.
The nursing institute has been preparing clinical practitioners, nursing administrators and educators to shoulder responsible positions and facilitate better education with added thrust to nursing research and short term courses in specialities of nursing. Faculty and students are members of National Professional Organizations.

Eligibility criteria:
B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) - only for female candidates
a. The minimum education requirement shall be 10+2 examination passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination recognized by the Panjab University as equivalent thereto with atleast 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates appearing in the said examination to be held in April-May of the year can also apply, but they will be issued roll numbers only if they furnish the certificates of their having passed the examination (15 days by post and 5 days by hand) before the date of entrance test.
b. The minimum age is 17 years and maximum 25 years, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic)
a. Must have passed 10+2 or any other examination recognized by the Panjab University as equivalent thereto.
b. Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized institute and registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by I.N.C. or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.
In case, the candidate is in service, the application should route through the employer.
M.Sc. Nursing
a. B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc.Hons.Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) or any other degree from the institute recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and the Panjab University as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
b. Should have at least 1 year of work experience by 15th July of the year in bedside nursing or public health nursing in nursing educational institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council after Basic B.Sc. Nursing or before and after Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing. c. Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife as approved by I.N.C. or substitute registration in the case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.
In case, the candidate is in service, the application should route through the employer.
Procedure of applying
a. The application form is available with this brochure. The candidates may download the application form available and send the applications complete in all respects along with one unstamped self addressed envelope of 24x15 cms. The candidates shall submit all the documents (attested photostat copies) in support of their particulars filled in the application form along with a demand draft of Rs.500/- in respect of General Category and Rs.400/- for SC/ST categories in favour of The Director, PGI, Chandigarh (the draft is not required for the candidates who are applying through the prospectus/application form obtained from the office of the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education worth Rs.500/- in respect of General Category and Rs.400/- for SC/ST categories). The application should reach the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI, Chandigarh, either personally or by Registered post by 2-5-2008. The applications received after the closing date will not be accepted. The Institute takes no responsibility for any delay in the receipt or loss of application or Admit Card/Roll No. in transit. Incomplete applications will not be entertained and no correspondence will be made in this regard.
b. The fact that an application form has been supplied on a certain date will not be accepted as an excuse for the late submission of the application. The supply of the application form does not ipso facto make the receiver eligible for admission to the selection tests.
c. The candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes are required to furnish a certificate from the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector/Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate, *Sub Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate, Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, Sub Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides. Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/Development Officer (Lakshdweep Islands) in support of their claims. The candidates must supply an English Translation of their caste certificate along with the application.
Not below the rank of Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate.
d. No request for a change in category/subject applied for is entertained after the submission of the application to the Institute.
For inservice candidates
The applications of inservice candidates for M.Sc Nursing and B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic) must be routed through proper channel. In case delay is anticipated in the transmission of the application, an advance copy of the application on the prescribed form, complete in all respects must reach the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI before the closing date i.e. 2-5-2008. The application through proper channel should also reach the Principal, N.I.N.E. on or before 12.5.2008, otherwise the application shall be rejected without any correspondence in this regard.
For foreign candidates
Candidates belonging to foreign countries are required to route their applications through the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and it should reach by the prescribed date. They have to obtain Eligibility Certificate from the Panjab University, Chandigarh and clearance from the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and submit it alongwith application form. They are also required to appear and qualify in the entrance examination.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
An entrance examination is held on All India basis by the Institute. The tentative date of the entrance test is :-

Roll Nos. to the eligible candidates for appearing in the entrance examination will be issued around a fortnight in advance. Any candidate who does not receive any information from this office may please write to the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI by name 15 days before the commencement of entrance test giving his/her particulars i.e. full name, course applied for, registration no/category under which applied for etc. Candidates will have to appear in the entrance test at Chandigarh at their own expenses and no TA/DA is admissible to them for the purpose. There will not be any change in the selection/examination schedule even if the day is declared holiday or half holiday by Chandigarh Administration. No documents or enquiries shall be entertained at the examination centre. The Centre Superintendent will admit only those candidates to the entrance test who have been issued Roll Nos.
General Information
(a) The complete application (i.e. accompanied with all documents etc.) must reach the Principal of National Institute of Nursing Education either by post or by personal delivery at the counter on or before the closing date. Applications may please be sent preferably by registered post. For facility of candidates, the closing date for the receipt of applications has been mentioned on the application form. The counter for receipt of applications to be delivered personally will close at 4.00 P.M. on the closing date and no application will be received thereafter. The institute will not be responsible if application is delivered to any other quarters. The fact that the application registration no. has been issued to the candidates does not mean that the application is complete in all respects and has been accepted by the institute.
(b) If the closing date fixed for the receipt of applications by the institute is declared as a holiday or half day holiday by the Chandigarh Administration, then the immediate next working day shall be the closing date for receipt of applications.
(c) Application received after the closing date is not considered. The institute takes no responsibility for any delay in the receipt or loss of application/prospectus in transit.
(d) Incomplete applications are not entertained and no correspondence will be made in this respect. All particulars in the application form must be written carefully and legible. All claims made in the application must be supported with documentary proof.
(e) Candidates should sign all the documents including enclosures to the application and also put date.
(f) No request for a change of the category applied for is entertained after submission of the application to the institute.
(g) The candidates in employment must forward their applications through proper channel. In case delay is anticipated in the transmission of the application, an advance copy of the application on the prescribed form, complete in all respect must reach the Principal of National Institute of Nursing Education on or before 2.5.2008 and the copy through proper channel should reach by 12.5.2008.
(h) The decision of the Director of the Institute in the matter of selection of candidates for the various courses shall be final.
(i) The candidates invited for the selection may have to stay at Chandigarh 2-3 days. No TA/DA is admissible to them for the purpose.
(j) If any candidate wants a duplicate Roll.no./Admit Card to be issued, then he/she must do so by seeing the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education on a working day during office hours atleast a day prior to the date fixed for the theory examination. For obtaining duplicate Roll No. the candidate is required to deposit a fee of Rs.20/- and also furnish his/her recent passport size coloured photograph. No duplicate Roll No./Admit card is issued at the examination Centre. The Centre Superintendent admits only those candidates to the examination whose candidature is confirmed. In case of any dispute the same shall be settled within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.
(k) If any entrance examination/interview is fixed for any course there will not be any change in the date and the examination/interview will be held as per schedule even if the day is declared as a holiday or half day holiday by the Chandigarh Administration.
(l) Any attempt on the part of candidate to influence directly or indirectly will be treated as disqualifications.
(m) The candidates selected for the course shall have to furnish the migration certificate from which they passed their last examination at the time of their joining along with all other certificates in original in support of their qualifications, experience etc.
(n) No individual intimation is sent to the un-selected candidates.
(o) The period of training is strictly full time and ordinarily continuous.
(p) The rules are subject to change in accordance with the decision of the institute from time to time.
(q) Selected candidates shall have to pay the fees etc. on the same day failing which his/her selection will be treated as cancelled and the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list in the order of merit.
OTHER INFORMATION
STIPEND/SCHOLARSHIPS
A. B.Sc Nursing (4 years)
Institute awards Rs. 100/- per month as stipend during three years and Rs.200/- per month during the internship period to all students. Students are required to execute bond to serve the Institute/the Govt. (which shall include the Central Govt. or any State or Union Territory or an autonomous body/hospital established by Central/State/Union Territory Govt.) for a period of three years if offered a job within six months by any of the above mentioned institutes/departments after the completion of the training otherwise after six months of the completion of the training, this condition of the bond will be inoperative.
B. M.Sc Nursing
Two PGI Scholarships at the rate of Rs 250/- per month to pursue M.Sc Nursing (one for first year and one for second year) are available to the selected candidates on merit who will execute service bond for a period of three years.
IMPORTANT NOTE
In case, any candidate found to have supplied false information, certificate etc. or is found to have concealed or withheld some information in her/his application form, she/he shall be debarred from Admission. Any other action that may be considered appropriate by the Director of the Institute may also be taken against her/him which include criminal prosecution.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. For all courses, where MBBS/BDS is an eligible requirement, the candidate, the candidates who have made more than one attempt (i.e. have more than one failure compartment or reappear) during their MBBS/BDS career are not eligible. For DM/M.Ch. courses the candidates who have made more than one attempt in MBBS/MD/MS career are not eligible. However, those belong to Sch. Caste/Tribes with upto two attempts in their MBBS/BDS career will be eligible for MD/MS, and MDS, House Job in Oral Health Sciences.
2. The candidates completing internship after 30.06.2008 are not eligible for course No.1, 2, and 3
3. The number of seats wherever indicated are provisional and may increase/ decrease without any prior notice.
4. The courses at Sr. No. 6 to 18 are only for Sponsored/Deputed candidates.
5. A candidate applying for more than one subject/course except category 1 & 2 is required to submit separate application complete in all respect for each subject/course.
6. The candidates may apply in the form downloadable for (Sr. No. 1 to 4) at http://pgimer.nic.in together with requisite fee by Demand Draft in the name of Director PGI. The prescribed application forms alongwith prospectus (Brochure of information) are also available form the office of the undersigned either personally on payment of Rs.500/- for general category and Rs.400/- for SC/ST at the counter (Kairon Block, Room No. 306) from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM. And from 2.30 PM to 3.30 ON ALLWORKING DAYS EXCEPT Saturdays (On Saturdays, forms will be available from 10.30 AM to 12.00 Noon) or by post for which the request must be accompanied with a self addressed thick envelope of size 24x15 cm bearing postage stamps of Rs.30/- and Bank Draft preferably from by SBI branch payable at SBI Medical Institute Branch (Code No. 1524) Chandigarh for General Rs.500/- and for SC/ST Rs.400/- (indicating category i.e. General or SC/ST) drawn in favour of the Director, PGI Chandigarh. Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur, India has been established by an Act of the Govt. of Rajasthan under section 2f of UGC Act 1956. Sir Padampat Singhania University has a sprawling campus of about 100 acres which is located at a distance of 30 kms from Udaipur city and about 10 Km from the Udaipur airport on the National Highway 76 towards Chittorgarh. The University aims to impart quality education through a number of educational programmes. The fully residential campus is ecologically friendly and conducive for academic learning and comfortable living.
Five Year International Bachelor- Masters Degree Programme:
This international bachelor- masters degree programme will be spread over five years. Out of the total five years for integrated bachelor-master degrees, which is recognized by both AIT and SPSU, some of the masters courses will be offered from the third-fourth years of studies as electives or as agreed by both parties and will be evaluated by AIT faculties. Thus students will be exposed to advanced leading to master’s degree during bachelor study itself. Students will spend first four years at SPSU and the fifth year at AIT. Other relevant features of the programme are given below :
Both SPSU and AIT will seek for quality education offering for this unique international unified bachelor-masters degree programme. The curriculum for this unified bachelor and masters degrees will be prepared by faculties in both institutes. SPSU will provide academic buildings, lab and student accommodation facilities of to this exclusive group of students. AIT will provide similar facilities to SPSU students during continuation of masters at AIT. Students after completion of bachelor at SPSU need to meet AIT’s admission criteria for continuing masters studies at AIT.
The indicated fee to be charged by AIT during the fifth year includes only tuition and registration. Students will bear the cost of accommodation, food and other living expenses separately. AIT will make arrangements for accommodating students in this unified bachelor-masters degree programme. Similarly, the indicatred fees to be charged by SPSU during the first four years includes only tuition fees. Students will have to bear the hostel fees seperately.
Students from SPSU continuing masters studies will be eligible to compete for AIT scholarships/fellowships.
AIT will provide all possible information available for the placement of graduating students through career development center. SPSU will provide required assistance to students who are seeking bank loans for studies in this unified bachelor-masters programme.
CURRICULUM:
The medium of instruction/ examination in the programmes at all levels is English. Each academic programme is so designed as to provide enough flexibility in the choice of courses that the students would like to take. Besides compulsory (core) subjects for each discipline, the students will have option to choose courses of their own interest from the selective/optional courses. In framing the courses care has been taken to see that they are not burdened with formal lectures only. There is adequate provision for seminars, tutorials, case studies, guided field work, group discussions etc. to make learning a unique experience.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
Candidates should have passed 10+2 science or equivalent examination from a recognized board, securing 60% marks in aggregate of PCM/PCB group. Candidate appearing for the 10+2 examination in 2008 are also eligible to apply. PCM candidates are eligible for all branches. PCB candidates are eligible only for Biotechnology.
Be born on or after June 30th 1986.
Appear in AIEEE/AIPMT 2008 examination conducted by CBSE or in AIEEA 2008 examination conducted by ICAR.
HOW TO APPLY:
Application for admission to the B.Tech degree programme is to be made in the prescribed form. The form complete in all respects should reach the Registrar on or before the specified date. Application form incomplete in any respect will be rejected. Application form and information bulletin can be downloaded from our website www.spsu.ac.in or obtained from the Registrar, SPSU, Bhatewar, Udaipur 313601. Duly filled application should be submitted along with a DD for Rs.600/- in favour of ‘Sir Padampat Singhania University’ payable at Udaipur.
DOCUMENTS TO BE ENCLOSED ALONG WITH FORM:
Copy of the admit card of AIEEE/ AIPMT/ AIEA 2008 information.
Demand draft/ pay order for Rs 600/- (Rupees six hundred only) in favour of ‘Sir Padampat Singhania University’, payable at Udaipur.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection will be based on AIEEE rank for all branches. For Biotechnology AIPMT/AIEEA rank will also be applicable.
Candidate seeking admission to the B.Tech degree programme shall be required to qualify in the AIEEE/AIPMT examination conducted by CBSE or AIEEA examination conducted by ICAR.
Short listed candidates, according to merit in the Entrance Examinations indicated above and shall be placed on the University website www.spsu.ac.in and on the Notice Board of the University.
Short listed candidates shall be called for Counselling and admission to be held at the University campus from June 23rd, 2008.
Selected candidates shall be required to be present in person for Counselling and shall be required to get admitted by paying the required fee as per schedule.
Reservation of seats for SC/ST candidates shall be as per State Govt. norms.

Eligibility
The minimum requirement for admission to the programme is a 3-years Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign University with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates appearing for final year Bachelor's degree examinations (or an equivalent examination) can also apply, provided they complete all degree requirements by September 30, 2008 .

The candidate should mention the name of the candidate and the Serial number of the Prospectus while making the request for buying the Application Form. Sending Completed Application Form

Selection Procedure
Candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and Personal Interview based on their academic record. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview in Kolkata. The final selection will be based on candidate's past academic record, overall performance in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview, and work experience.
