ELIGIBILITY:

Based on CAT or GMAT Score (not older than 2 years CAT 2007, 2008) or UGC-CSIR NET.
Candidates who have a PGDFM from IIFM or PGDM from IIM with minimum OGPA of 3.33 out of 4.33 can apply directly.
Eligible candidates with 5 years work experience (4 years for engineering postgraduates) can also aply but will have to appear for a written test at IIFM.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview.

NLSIU, Bangalore, invites applications for one year Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights Law (PGDCRL) - Distance Mode, commencing in January 2009. The programme is being offered by the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL), a specialized Research Centre at the NLSIU, engaged in research, training, teaching, practice and policy advocacy on various issues related to children since 1996.
The programme is open to graduates from recognized Universities in any acadmeic discipline. The medium of instruction will be English. Candidates are expected attend three contact classes of approximately three days each during the course. Admission Procedure: Candidates intending to enroll for admission shall submit the prescribed application form duly filled in along with the original Degree/Provisional certificate and an attested copy of the same on or before the prescribed last date. Soon after completion of the admission process the Degree/Provisional certificate will be returned to the candidate.
Duration: One Academic Year.
Reading Materials: Reading Material comprising of compiled articles and some Self-Instructional Materials focusing on identified course modules, will be distributed to the enrolled candidates.

Paper 1- The Child, Family and the State in India: Realities and Issues
Paper 2- Child Rights, Policy and Law: International and National Framework
Paper 3- Key Legislation relating to Children in India
Paper 4- Working with Children from a Rights based Perspective
Paper 5- Research Project
Requirements for fulfillment of the Course
- Every candidate has to appear for examination in four papers. Each paper carries equal marks. Candidates are supposed to secure at least 50% marks in each paper.
- Every candidate shall work on a Research Project (which will be considered as Paper V) and submit the project report before he/she appears for the written examination. Candidates are permitted to continue the course beyond the first academic year. However, project assignments shall be submitted before the candidate appears for the written exam in that paper.
In addition, each candidate is required to submit assignments on exercises given for each paper.
Self assessment exercises are also given (optional) for each unit. These are not marked but enable the students to assess the extent to which they have learnt the given material.
Contact Classes: Candidates are expected to attend three contact classes of approximately three days each during the course.

Accommodation--
The University will provide accommodation on first come first serve basis during the contact classes and examinations. A specific request to this effect has to be made by the candidate directly to the Warden, either by email to warden@nls.ac.in or by post addressed to the Chief Warden, NLSIU, at least 15 days in advance of the commencement of classes/exams. A nominal amount of Rs. 125/- per day will be charged for accommodation in addition to the regular course fee.

THE HINDU invites applications for scholarships for technical training in JAPAN. The number of scholarships will be three. The terms and conditions are as follows:
1. Candidates who must be Indian Citizens, should not have completed 30 years of age on 31-03-2009 and should be in possession of the minimum Degree of B.E., or B.Sc. (Engg.) or its equivalent from any recognized University. Candidates who have already had practical experience in the branches for which training is proposed to be given, will be given preference. Candidates with at least one year's professional experience need apply. Those who were interviewed in previous years for the Scholarships need not apply again.
2. The scholarships are tenable in Japan for principally six months commencing about July 2009. Trainees may have general training in one of the following product fields of Hitachi Ltd., (Hitachi) for example
* Information & Telecommunication System, (2) Power & Industrial System, (3) Digital Media Products, being subject to the convenience of each of Hitachi's establishments.
3. Trainees shall be during their training, under the supervision and direction of Hitachi, which has full discretion on scope, mode, duration and place of establishment of their training. Training will not be available in the R&D activities of Hitachi. They will be subject to the rules and regulations and the discipline of the establishment to which they are posted.
4. Selected trainees will be provided with return Economy Class air passage. Arrangements will also be made for free Boarding and Lodging for trainees in Japan and to defray all expenses for travelling in Japan which may be considered necessary for their training. In addition, each trainee will be paid a monthly fixed allowance to cover his personal expenses.
5. Parents or Guardians of selected candidates shall guarantee their good conduct and shall undertake to pay for their repatriation should their conduct be found unsatisfactory by Hitachi Ltd., or any public authority in Japan or in case the selected candidates desire to discontinue their studies in Japan for any reason whatsoever during the period of their scholarship.

INTRODUCTION:
Mental health problems in all societies are on the rise. The global WHO study (2001) demonstrated that at least 20% of all consumers at the primary care le el have some mental disorder, and mot of these patients do not receive treatment for mental disorder, According to Government of Gujarat Mental Health Care Policy, 2005, it is estimated that there are 2.8 million adults with common and servere mental disorder at any point in time in Gujarat. To bridge the glaring gap between the need and the available care in existing health framework, some of the specific challenges that demand urgent attention from mental health sector include:
Shortage of trained human resource
Inadequate training capacity
The present course is an effort towards capacity building in mental health.
WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH AND ASSESSMENT?
Mental Health is a tearm used to describe either a level of cognitive or emotional wellbeing or an absence of a mental disorder. This inlcudes an individual's ability to enjoy life and achievce a balance between life activiteis and efforts to achieve psychological resilience.
Mental Health Assessment gives the treating clinician an overall picture of how well a client feels emotionally and how well the persion is able to think, reason, and remember (cognitive functioning).
PATTERN OF COURSE DELIVERY:
Course will be conducted 3 times a year (Nov, Feb, July)
Complete duration of the course is 2 and half months (10 weeks)
Combined examination for all batches
6 days contact teaching with lectures and tutorials and fieldwork using workshop methodology.
2 home assignments, 3000 words each, 8 week literature based project, case report or equivalent.
2 days summary and completion (including feedback on essays, supervision).

Graduate inany discipline with English Language as one of the subject in any year and with an interest in the field of Mental Health.
