Ayurved/Homoeopathic/Unani courses in State/Private Colleges in Rajasthan

Applications have been invited by Rajasthan Ayurved University, Kadwad, Nagaur Road, Jodhpur, Rajasthan-342037, for admission to the Ayurved/Homoeopathic/Unani courses in State/Private Colleges in Rajasthan.

Admissions will be made through a Joint Entrance Test, 2009 to be held at Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Kota, Sriganganagar, New Delhi & Lucknow on the 24th June, 2009 (Wednesday). The Examination Centres may also be located at Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Thiruvananthpuram, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal and Guwahati. There will be two papers for the test. Each paper carrying 360 marks will have 120 objective type questions. First paper to be held from 8 am to 10 am will have 80 Questions from Physics in Section A and 40 Questions from Zoology in Section B. Paper 2 to be held from 11 am to 1 pm will have 80 questions from Chemistry (Section A) and 40 from Botany (Section B). Each correct answer will fetch 3 marks. For wrong answers, 1/2 mark shall be deducted. Merit position shall be determined on the basis of total marks obtained in both the papers.

Admissions for Ayurved course being run by the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur and for the Homoeopathic & Unani Faculties will be made through Joint Entrance Test conducted at the National Level; for which the residents of all the States in India can apply for admissions. For admission to all the remaining Ayurved Colleges, bonafide Residents of Rajasthan may apply for the Joint Entrance Examination.

Applicant should complete 17 years of age on 31-12-09 and should have passed the 10+2 examination (Science Biology Group) of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education or equivalent there to. For admission to Ayurved & Unani Faculties, the candidate must have obtained at least 50% average marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Those who have appeared this year at 10+2 examination with Science Biology may apply for admission subject to the submission of 10+2 mark sheet with requisite (50%) marks in Science- Biology Group as per the time schedule.

For admission to Unani Faculty, applicant should have studied Urdu as a subject in 10th class or passed Adib, Adib-e-Mahir or Adib-e-Kamil from Jamia Hamdard, Aligarh along with above said 10+2 qualification. Reservations as per Govt. Rules will be provided to those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped persons/Dependent of Defence Personnels/Residents of Tribal Areas in Rajasthan.

National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology, Hatia, Ranchi- 834 003 under the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, a leading institute for teaching, training, research & development, consultancy and documentation and information retrieval services in metal casting and metal forming technology, has invited applications for admission to PDF, Ph. D, M. Tech & Advanced Diploma Courses for 2009.

Post Doctoral and Doctoral Programmes ( PDF, Ph. D): Applicants for Post Doctoral Fellow should hold a Ph.D Degree. For Ph.D, applicant should have Master Degree in appropriate branch of Engineering with minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60 % from a recognized institute/University. First class Master Degree in Basic and Applied Sciences will also be considered. A valid GATE/NET score is necessary for scholarship for candidates without an M.Tech Degree.

Application may be sent on plain paper giving details of curriculum vitae including academic achievements and work experience. Applications are generally entertained twice in a year in the months of June and December. The Institute's main emphasis is on Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Processing Technology, Environmental Science & Engineering and Computational Materials Engineering. However, few seats are also available for candidates interested in pure and applied sciences. The selected candidates will also be required to assist in teaching and upkeep of the laboratories.

Master of Technology Courses: (M. Tech): Master of Technology course of 24 months (4- semester) duration is offered in the following areas, the eligibility being noted against each:
* Foundry- Forge Technology: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Production Engineering or Equivalent
* Manufacturing Engineering: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Production/Electrical/Aeronautical/Chemical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering.
* Materials Science and Engineering: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/Ceramic/Materials Science and Engineering or Master of Science in Physics/Chemistry.
* Environmental Engineering: Bachelor's Degree in any branch of Engg or Master of Science in Physics/Chemistry/ Environmental Science (with Mathematics up to Bachelor level)

Minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60 % aggregate marks is required for General and CGPA of 6.0 or 55 % aggregate marks for SC/ ST candidates. Selection of candidates will be on the basis of GATE score, marks obtained in last qualifying examinations and interview. Valid GATE score is mandatory for grant of scholarship (Rs. 8000/- per month at present). GATE score is not mandatory for sponsored / self financing candidates.

Advanced Diploma Courses (ADC): Advanced Diploma course of 18 months (3-semester) duration is offered in (a) Foundry Technology and (b) Forge Technology.
Applicant should hold a Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical /Production Engineering or B.Sc (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics) with 50% marks for General/OBC category & 45% for SC/ST.

Selection will be on the basis of written test to be held on 19.7.2009 at NIFFT, Ranchi. Stipend of Rs 1000/- pm is provided. Limited seats are also available for sponsored candidates. Candidates appearing in final examination may also apply.

Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore has invited applications for admission to the 12 months Regular residential course in Flour Milling Technology at International School of Milling Technology (ISMT) scheduled to start on 17th August 2009.

Applicant should have a Degree/Diploma in Engineering/Tech or any Degree from a recognized University (Arts, Commerce, Science or equivalent) or City & Guilds Certificate in Flour Milling.

Applicant should have passed the Second year Pre-University/12th Standard/equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. Those awaiting results of 10+2 may also apply, subject to the submission of attested copies of the marks cards before 28.5.2009 and scoring more than 50% in the Entrance Test. MPhil in Applied Economics of the Jawaharlal Nehru University


Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications for admission to its full-time residential Programme leading to MPhil in Applied Economics of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, commencing on August 03, 2009.
Applicants can choose to be considered for provisional enrolment for PhD in Economics, either after the MPhil coursework or the full Programme, if meeting the requirements. The Programme has two-semester course-work and a dissertation.

Applicant should have a Master's Degree in Economics with at least 50% marks or in other Social Sciences, Humanities or Law with at least 55% marks or in Sciences, Technology or Life Sciences with at least 60% marks. SC/ST applicants and PH applicants with more than 40% disability are eligible irrespective of their percentage of marks.

The Programme follows an inter-disciplinary approach and those from non-Economics background are encouraged to apply. Those awaiting results of the Master's Programme can also apply, subject to the completion of the requirements of such Degree at the time of commencement of the Programme.

The Programme will have an annual intake of about 15 candidates. Two seats are available for officers deputed by the Government of Kerala. Journalists and Postgraduates in Journalism can utilize a fellowship of the Journalism Education Trust to undergo either the coursework or the full programme. Reservation is 15% for SC; 7.5% for ST and 3% for Physically Challenged candidates.

The Research Proposal is the tool for evaluation of the applicant's interest and aptitude for undergoing this Programme and is a key element of the application.

The Proposal can be in any field of study, but with an Applied Economics approach; should ideally be within 1500 words, neatly typed/ word-processed.

It should be the candidate's own work. The research Proposal should contain, A review of relevant literature on the chosen topic, A cogent exposition on the study problem, objectives of the study, Theoretical Framework, Methodology and sources of data, List of References.

Candidates shortlisted for interview to be held between 6th July and 8th July 2009, will be paid return sleeper class rail fare to Trivandrum from the nearest railway station to the place given in the communication address in the application, if more than 50 km away from Trivandrum. Journalism Mentor, a group of journalists, offer a 12 month intensive programme designed for those who are interested in pursuing journalism as a career.

Screening:

Twenty five students chosen with care after a nationwide screening will be accepted to become Journalism Mentees. The Screening will be done by a select panel of acclaimed journalists. They will be expected to study subjects ranging from history to economics and accounts to anatomy.

Writing skills, use of technology and study of viewer/reader behaviour shall also be part of the larger course structure. Graduates of any discipline who are interested in becoming journalists could apply.
