Stipend Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 24,000 per month, Teaching Assistantship upto Rs. 11,000 per month as per rules in addition to stipend, computer grant, fieldwork grant, contingency grant Rs. 20,000 per year. Full support for upto three international conference attendance anywhere in the world.


Eligibility:
An applicant should have:
A Master's degree in any subject or equivalent professional qualification with at least 55 per cent marks; and minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks at the three year Bachelor's degree level.
OR
A First Class Bachelor's degree in Engineering. If "Class" is not given by the institute then 60 per cent marks (or equivalent grade point) will be considered equivalent to first class.
In addition, all applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination (or equivalent) of a Board or University. Final year students appearing for the Bachelor's degree examination in Engineering or Master's degree examination in any relevant discipline can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements for obtaining the degree before 30 June 2010. The admission of these candidates will remain provisional until they produce mark sheets proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The deadline for submitting the final year degree mark sheets is 31 December 2010. For SC/ST candidates the eligibility conditions may be relaxed.

Applicants for the Fellow Programme will be required to take the CAT or other test(s) in lieu of CAT as specified below. The validity of the scores will be Two years from the date of the test and should be valid on the deadline of submission of the application form.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan

I.. Applications are invited from Indian nationals either through http://www.education.nic.in/ or on plain paper in the FORMAT GIVEN BELOW for nominations from India for the award of Commonwealth Scholarship tenable in United Kingdom from October 2010 for higher studies/research/specialized training in the subject mentioned below in the United Kingdom. Up to Sixty (60) nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection to be made by them. Out of these not more than 35 (thirty five) are for one year Master’s Degree Course/Six months clinical training and twenty five (25) are for three year’s Ph.D. Course and 1 year Research on Split-Site basis.

. VALUE OF AWARD

Each scholarship provides: -

* Student concessionary or other approved air fare to the United Kingdom by the most direct and economical route and return on expiry of the scholarship (the cost of journey made before receipt of award will not normally be reimbursed nor can fares be paid for a scholar’s dependents).
* Approved tuition and examination fees.
* A personal maintenance allowance payable monthly.
* A grant for books and apparatus in the first year of study and for a subsequent full year also; and a grant towards the expenses preparing a thesis of dissertation, where applicable;
* A grant for expenses of approved travel within the U.K.
* An initial clothing grant for most scholars on first arrival from tropical developing countries;
* Where a host institution has in advance declared and the Commission has accepted, the need for fieldwork outside the United Kingdom, a grant towards the cost of such fieldwork, which shall not normally exceed one economy and tourist class return fare to the fieldwork location. Scholars for whom fieldwork fares are provided to their home country shall not be entitled to a mid – term homeward fare;
* For married scholars selected by the Commission for awards exceeding 12 months, a marriage allowance per mensem is payable provided that the husband and wife are residing together at the same address in the United Kingdom. It is not paid when a husband or wife of the scholars is also in receipt of an award, or is in paid employment. For such married couples accompanied by their children, a child allowance is payable for the first, second and third child under the age of 16 provided they are residing with their parents. A scholar who is unaccompanied by spouse but accompanied by children for whom he/she is legally responsible, shall receive the equivalent of the spouse’s allowance for the first child, and child allowances for the second and third child, irrespective of the length of tenure of award.

Scholar’s emoluments are not subject to United Kingdom income tax, but holders and their spouses may be liable for the payment at least in part of any Council tax levied by the local authority where they live.

Reserve Bank of India



Young Scholars Award Scheme

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest m and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI Under the Scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and award a scholarship. Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages. Selected candidates will be required to work on projects in select offices of RBI for 2 to 3 months and will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 7,500/- per month during the duration of die project. RBI will assist outstation awardees in boarding and lodging. The awardees shall have no right/claim for an appointment in the RBI. Any candidate who had qualified and worked at RBI under the RBI Young Scholar Award Scheme in any of the previous years need not apply again.

All students, between 18 and 23 years of age, currently pursuing their undergraduate studies in any subject under any recognised university in India, are eligible to take the competitive examination. There is no application fee. The selection test will be held on January 10, 2010 at various centres across India. The results of the selection test are likely to be announced in the middle of Match 2010. Eligibility: For Regular (full time] Research Scholars:

Ph.D. in Engineering:

a] Candidates with a Master's degree in Engineering / Technology with a good academic record or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering / Technology with a good academic record.

b) Candidates with Master's degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit where eligible, for the relevant Engineering discipline and with a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR NET / NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration.

In the case of candidates with more than 5 years relevant experience after the Master's degree, the requirement of a test score may be waived by the Selection Committee.

c] Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology with exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. Programme as a regular full time scholar subject to the following conditions:

- a B.Tech degree holder of an IIT with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 10 point scale or with a valid GATE score.

- a Bachelor's degree holder in Engineering / Technology from any other University should be among the top 10 rank holders in the University and having a valid GATE score.

- a Bachelor's degree holder in Engineering / Technology from a reputed R & D organisation and having a proven research record.


Ph.D. in Sciences:

a) Master's degree in Sciences with a good academic record and having a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR NET / NBHM or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area.

b) Master's degree in Engineering / Technology where eligible with a good academic record.

c) B.Tech degree holder of an IIT where eligible with a minimum of CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale or with a valid GATE Score.

Ph.D. in Humanities and Social Sciences:

Master's degree in an eligible discipline with a good academic record or equivalent and having a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR NET / NBHM or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area.


Ph.D in Management:

Masters degree or equivalent PG Diploma or Associateship in a relevant discipline, and a Bachelor's degree with a good academic record OR Five year integrated masters degree/ dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a good academic record AND

Qualifying in national level examinations such as JMET / CAT / MAT / ATMA / GATE / UGCor CSIR / NET JRF or Lectureship or equivalent or international level post graduate admission examination such as GMAT / GRE or equivalent. OR

At least 5 years of managerial experience in lieu of the above examination. (This clause is only for Non-HTRA candidates)

Master's degree in Engineering / Technology with a good academic record or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering / Technology in a relevant discipline are exempted from qualifying in National level examinations.

For Institute staff members / Research Scholars under QIP / Research Scholars under External Registration / Research Scholars working on part-time basis:

For Research Scholars in the above categories, the minimum educational qualifications are the same as prescribed for Regular (full time) Research Scholars in for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in the respective categories.

However, valid GATE score or CSIR/UGC NET / NBHM /JMET / CAT / AIMA / JRF or Lectureship or equivalent qualification as applicable for regular (full time) research scholars may not be required in these cases.


Minimum Educational Qualifications for M.S:


For Regular (full time) Research Scholars:


M.S. in Engineering / Entrepreneurship / Management:

a) Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology with valid GATE score or a Master's degree in appropriate Sciences Management / Humanities and Social Sciences where eligible with a good academic record and a valid GATE score or CSIR / UGC NET / NBHM / JEMT / CAT / AIMA or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant areas.

b) Candidates having Associate Membership of the following professional bodies will also be eligible for admission to the M.S. programme of their parent discipline provided they have a valid GATE score and have passed both part A and part B of the Membership examinations with a good academic record.

1. is a Diplomate in Nursing after 12 years of schooling.
2. possess permanent registration certificates from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates).
3. is medically fit.
4. obtains the Eligibility certificate from the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai at the time of registration.

SELECTION PROCESS

I. MSc NURSING, BSc NURSING FOR TRAINED NURSES, FELLOWSHIP IN NURSING AND POSE BASIC DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN NURSING

Candidates who have applied for MSc Nursing, BSc (N) for Trained Nurses, Fellowship in Nursing and Post Basic Diploma programmes in Nursing will appear for a written examination in the centre mentioned in the hall ticket. The short listed candidates called for the medical checkup and interview after the preliminary selection will be published in the website and intimated individually by post before the 2nd week of December 2009.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

All eligible candidates are required to undertake a written examination (multiple choice questions) on 28 November 2009. The examination will be conducted in the following cities - Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Trivandrum and Vellore. The candidates are expected to report 1/2 an hour before the examination at the centre with the hall ticket. The medium of the examination will be English.

APPLICATION FEE

I. M Sc Degree in Nursing = Rs.500/-
II. B Sc Nursing for Trained Nurses = Rs.450/-
III. Fellowship in Nursing = Rs.400/-
IV. Post Basic Diploma Programmes in Nursing = Rs.300/-

Application forms for the programmes can be obtained on request to: The Registrar, College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore-632 004, Taniilnadu, India either by hand or by sending the prescribed fee (as mentioned in the table above) as crossed denand draft drawn in favour of CMC Vellore Association payable at State Bank of India, Vellore Town Branch code 1618. (No other mode of payment will be accepted). APPLICATION form for which the programme desired must be specified.
