University of Madras invites applications for admission to Ph.D Degree from Non - stipendiary candidates for Full - Time / Part - Time Program in the Departments of the University, Colleges affiliated to this University and Recognised Research Institutions for July 2010 Session.

To facilitate a time bound approach admission to Ph.D. Program, admission is made four times in a year (i.e.) in January, April, July and October of every calendar year.

Candidates should submit their applications on the first working day of a quarter viz., January, April, July and October. The teachers from University Departments / affiliated colleges are also informed that they should apply for admission to Ph.D Program in the above sessions only.
Candidates with fellowships from funding agencies like UGC CSIR, GATE etc., and project fellows could register at any time of the year.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST are exempted from payment of Application Cost, as well as Registration Fees subject to the production of two copies of community certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.

A superscription as "For SC / ST Candidates Only" is made on such Application Forms.

Eligibility :

A candidate should have obtained a Master's Degree with not less than 55% marks or equivalent Grade, in the case of examinations, where classification does not exist, a minimum of 55% marks is needed in the qualifying examination.

For SC / ST candidates and all other candidates who have completed the PG Degree before 1991, the minimum will be only 50% for admission to the Ph.D. Program.

A candidate should pass an Entrance Examination (Written and Oral) administered by duly constituted committee of the Department in the University or of an affiliated college where the candidate proposes to undergo Ph.D. Program.

Part - Time :

A teacher working in the Department of the University or of an affiliated college of the University or Higher Secondary School or High School or Polytechnic within the territorial jurisdiction and with a qualifying degree fulfilling the above eligibility can apply.


Teachers of affiliated colleges holding NET / SLET qualification or M.Phil. Degree with one year of teaching experience after M.Phil, Degree and Teachers of Higher Secondary School / High School and Polytechnic with two years experience after the qualifying degree shall be allowed to register for Ph.D. (Part - Time) Program.


A candidate employed other than as a teacher in a permanent job, within the territorial jurisdiction of this University with a minimum of four years of total working experience put in after the qualifying degree and satisfying the rules framed separately by the Syndicate from time to time with the above eligibility can apply.
Application Forms (both permission and Registration) can be had from the University Enquiry Office on payment of Rs.500/- by way of an Account Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalised Bank drawn in favour of "The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai" along with requisition letter.

Postal Order and Money Order will not be accepted. Self addressed stamped envelope for Rs.55/- shouid accompany the requisition for application form through post.

Filled in application (Application Form for Admission to Ph.D. Program only) along with attested Xerox copies of all the certificates should be sent directly to the Head of the Department of the University / Principal of the College / Director of Research Institution concerned and not to the Registrar, University of Madras.

Eligibility/ Mode of selection:-
A candidate passing any one of the following examinations from recognized School/College/ Institute located within NCT of Delhi and securing minimum 60% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) shall be eligible for admission provided that he/she has passed in each subject separately:

• Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the CBSE.
• Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the CISCE.
• B.Sc (General) or B.Sc. (Hons) examination of a recognised university with combination of PCM with minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
• Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E. by the University.
• 10% relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates and 5% for Physically Handicapped/ Defence category students.

A candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study of the Senior School Certificate Examination Level (Core or Elective).


Regional allocation of seats:-
(i) Delhi Region – 85% seats are allocated for students passing from the recognized Schools/Colleges/Institutions located within the NCT of Delhi.
(ii) Outside Delhi Region – 15% seats are open for students passing from the recognized Schools/Colleges/Institutions located outside the NCT of Delhi.

Note : the admission under 85% for Delhi quota and 15% for All India quota will be made in DTU strictly on All India Overall Rank obtained in AIEEE 2010.

• Counselling
Applicants are required to come for counselling/ admission as per schedule given in the Prospectus. Candidates are required to bring necessary documents and prescribed fee at the time of counselling to secure admission.

The number of scholarships/seats available for the academic session 2010-2011 are 17. Scholarships

are admissible as per rules of Government of Delhi.

Short listed candidates will be required to appear for interview. No TA/DA is admissible for interview. NET qualified candidates having UGC/CSIR Scholarship can also be considered for admission to full-time Ph.D programs. This would be in addition to the number of scholarships/seats mentioned above. The application form can be obtained from the Reception Counter, Administrative Building, Delhi Technological University, Shahbad Daulatpur, Main Bawana Road, Delhi-110042 in person on all working days from Monday to Friday between 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM on submission of Pay Order or Crossed Demand Draft of Rs.1,000/-.

Delhi University B.EL.ED Entrance Exam 2010



The Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) programme* is a four-year integrated professional degree programme of Elementary Teacher Education offered after the senior secondary (class XII) stage of school. This programme is a bilingual programme. Conceptualized by the Maulana Azad Centre for Elementary and Social Education (MACESE) of the Department of Education, University of Delhi. Launched in the academic year 1994-95, the programme is an attempt towards fulfilling the need for professionally qualified elementary school teachers. B.El.Ed. is designed to integrate the study of subject knowledge, human development, pedagogical knowledge and communication skills. Both professional and academic options are available to the students who graduate with a B.El.Ed. degree.

The introduction of the B.El.Ed. programme in undergraduate colleges of the University of Delhi marks a move towards the creation of a cadre of Elementary Education professionals – a long awaited promise, beginning with the conception of the Central Institute of Education in 1947. Through the B.El.Ed. programme, concerns of elementary education have been integrated into the University system with Delhi University taking the lead. It has also upgraded the professional status of the elementary school teacher by providing for a University degree for elementary education. At present, the programme is being offered in eight women colleges of the University of Delhi.

B.El.Ed. Written Entrance Test – 2010 Saturday, June 19, 2010

Applying for Admission to the B.El.Ed. Programme

(i) Before filling in the application form, candidates are advised to read the Prospectus carefully
and ensure their eligibility for admission, as per the conditions laid down in the Prospectus.

(ii) Duly completed ICR (Intelligent Computer Recogniser) application form, along with the
Acknowledgement Receipt (enclosed in the prospectus) should be submitted at the
Department of Education (CIE), University of Delhi, latest by Wednesday, June 09, 2010 by
4:00 p.m. No public dealing will be done on Sundays and gazetted holidays. No plea for
postal delay will be entertained.

(iii) Candidates sending application by post may use an envelope of appropriate size to contain
the envelope with ICR Form and Acknowledgement Slip. The duly filled application should
be sent by registered post and to reach the Dean, Faculty of Education, Department of
Education (CIE) University of Delhi, 33, Chhatra Marg, Delhi – 110 007, on or before Monday,
June 07, 2010.

(A) Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) programme must have passed the Class XII examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other Board recognised as equivalent to the CBSE with at least 55% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks

The B.El.Ed. programme is currently being offered in the following eight women colleges* of the University of Delhi.

Institute of Home Economics • Miranda House
Jesus and Mary College • Shyama Prasad Mukherji College
Vivekananda College (subject to approval of competent authorities)

Note: * For details regarding permissible relaxation in the minimum eligibility conditions and reservation of seats, see Annexure – A.

[2] Not more than two languages will be considered for the purpose of eligibility from List A and B together.

(B) Candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 1st October 2010. Relaxation will be permissible as per University norms.
