Visvesvaraya National
Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur has invited applications for admission
to MSc programmes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics through an
Entrance Test (for Non-JAM qualified candidates) to be held on 27 May, 2012.
Eligibility :
To apply for MSc
programmes, a candidate should satisfy the following criterion :
BSc / Bachelors degree
with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade (50% in case of candidates
from reserved category) with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics as one of the
main subject to be eligible for the respective course. Candidates appearing for
final year BSc examination may also apply. It is required to give proof of
appearing in the exam like Admit Card / Hall ticket.
For JAM (Joint Admission
Test for MSc conducted by IITs) qualified candidates with valid score and above
cut-off, this written entrance test is NOT necessary. They can directly apply
for admission. JAM qualified candidates will be given preference as per inter-se-merit,
for admission to MSc Programmes.

• Application Form and
Information Brochure can be downloaded from : www.vnit.ac.in.
• Submit separate
application form for MSc (Physics), MSc (Chemistry) and MSc (Mathematics) based
on JAM score for respective subjects.
• Demand Draft (DD) for
Rs. 300 (Rs. 150 for SC/ST) drawn in favour of "Director, VNIT,
Nagpur" payable at Nagpur is to be submitted along with each application.
• Documents to be
enclosed with application :
i. Attested photocopy of
High School (X Std.) Certificate for date of birth.
ii. Attested photocopy of
SC / ST / OBC / OM / PWD certificate, if applicable.
iii. Attested photocopies
of mark/grade sheets of Intermediate and BSc .
iv. Proof of appearing in
BSc final examination, if applicable.
v. Attested photocopy of
JAM score card.
• Duly filled Application

Last date for submission of
completed application is (extended) 22 May, 2012 till 5 pm.

Submission of Application Form for Admission to MTechPrograms :
Group A : GATE qualified candidates
All such candidates are required to submit their applications to the Centralized Counseling for MTechAdmissions (CCMT 2012) CCMT-12-13 for common admissions to full time MTech programs.
Group B : Non-GATE candidates
Candidates who fulfill eligibility criteria (Degree) having GATE score below qualifying marks or did not appear for the GATE examination.
Group C : Sponsored candidates
Candidates who fulfill eligibility criteria (Degree)
Group C1: Candidates recommended by various ministries of the Central as well as State Governments, Govt. R&D Organizations and Public Sector Undertakings.
Group C2: Candidates from the industries and the teachers from private institutions with valid GATE score.
Group C3: Candidates from the industries and the teachers from private institutions without valid GATE score or did not appear for the GATE examination.
Candidates of groups B and C should submit the completed separate application form department-wise (can be downloaded from website), along with the attested copies of the required documents and crossed DD/Bankers Cheque of amount Rs. 1500/- for Open, OBC, Minority and Rs 1200/- for SC/ST (non-refundable) towards processing fee drawn in favour of The Director, VNIT, Nagpur payable at Nagpur and must send to
Dy. Registrar (Academic), VNIT, South Ambazari Road, Nagpur-440 010 and must reach on or before Tuesday, 12.6.2012.
Important Dates :
* Last date for application submission : 12 June, 2012
* Display of category-wise list of applicants on notice board & website : 9 June, 2012
* Discrepancies, if any, in the list mentioned above shall be reported via email to the faculty co-ordinators on or before: 22 June, 2012
* Written test and interview for Groups B, C2 and C3 candidates : 27 June, 2012
* Display of category-wise Merit list (Institute spot round) on notice board & website : 28 June, 2012 by 5 pm
