ICMR in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh will hold a National level examination for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), for Indian national candidates at Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkatta Mumbai and Hyderabad on Sunday, July 13th, 2008.

A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded; 120 fellowships awarded in Life Sciences stream (like microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, genetics, human biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, immunology, zoology, environmental sciences, botany, veterinary sciences etc), and thirty (30) fellowships in social sciences stream (like Psychology, Sociology, Home Science, Statistics, Anthropology and Social work).

Application form duly completed must reach the Registrar; Academic Section PGIMER, Chandigarh-160012 by registered/Speed post on or before 25.4.2008. Candidate from remote areas /regions may submit their application forms duly completed latest by 2.5.2008.

ELIGIBILITY:
Educational: M.Sc/M.A or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General/OBC Candidates and 50% for the SC/ST & physically handicapped (PH) candidates in the subjects mentioned above. Candidates appearing in the final year examination (2007-2008) can also apply.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 28 years as on 30-09-2008 (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/ female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC.

The prescribed application from along with Information brochure will also be available on cash payment (Not by Cheque or money order) from the office of Registrar, Academic Section, PGIMER,Chandigarh-160012 at the counter & ICMR, New Delhi from 24.03.2008 on payment of Rs. 500/- for General & OBC and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PH from 10.30AM to 12.30PM and from 2.30PM to 3.30 PM on all working days except Saturdays (On Saturday forms will be available at PGIMER, Chandigarh only from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM) or by post for which request (inscribed on the envelope “Application form ICMR-JRF Exam -2008" must be accompanied with a Self addressed thick envelope of size 8” x10” bearing Postage stamp of Rs. 30/- and requisi e Bank draft. Candidates are advised to preserve photocopy of the Bank draft for further reference. SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates should submit a copy of the certificate from the competent authority in English or Hindi along with bank draft. All disputes relating to the conduct of the examination or any matter connected with this advertisement shall be dealt in the jurisdiction of Delhi Court.

ADMISSION UNDER PERSONS WITH DISABILITY (PWD) SCHEME:
Under this scheme of the Govt. of India 25 seats are available in Diploma (12Seats) and Certificate (13 seats) programmes for persons having more than 40%disability. Candidates who get admission under this scheme are given freeeducation, hostel facilities, scholarships, books, uniform allowances as per limitsof this scheme. Interested candidates may apply on the prescribed form(available free of cost). Selection Criteria: On the basis of a proposal presentation, personal interview and academic merits.
Duration: Three years to a maximum of seven years.

* Government of India Fellowships of Rs.10,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs.12,000/- per month for 3rd year respectively available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for lectureship only in population or its inter-disciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC. Such Ph.D. fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However the candidates, without NET qualification shall be given fellowship of Rs.6,250/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs.7,000/- per month for the 3rd year, with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-. Number of seats will be as per the availability of fellowships at the time of admission.

Reservation for SC/ST candidates will be considered as per the UGC norms.

ADMISSION TEST: The Entrance Examination for all the courses except the Certificate Course in Animation and Computer Graphics will be held on 25/5/2008 (Sunday), at the following centers: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabd, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. The Entrance Examination for Certificate Course in Animation and Computer Graphics will be held at FTII, Pune, on 22.06.2008 followed by interviews on 24.06.2008.

Prospectus containing application form and other details may be obtained on request along with Demand Draft of Rs.910/- drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of "Accounts Officer, Film & Television Institute of India", payable at Pune. Requests for prospectus will be entertained only after 20th March, 2008. Prospectus can also be obtained personally form the information and facilitation counter, Film and Television Institute of India after 20th March, 2008 at a cost of Rs.800/-.
