National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) ,Master of Public Health (Field Epidemiology)

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates possessing MBBS degree from any recognized institution are eligible to apply for the course.


AGE:
The upper age limit is 45 years for in-service candidates and 35 years for others as on August 1, 2009. The upper age limit can be relaxed up to a maximum of 5 years in exceptional cases by the Admission Officer if he/she is satisfied with the merit of the case.

SEATS :
Intake will be limited to a maximum of 15 seats. (The matter regarding increase in number of seats from 15 to 20 is under consideration of the University). Of these, two seats are earmarked for World Health Organization sponsored fellows. For the remaining 13 seats, admission will be done on the basis of an entrance test. These 13 seats will be distributed in the ratio of 60% for In-Service Candidates (working in Health Institutions / Organizations in Central / State Government or Public Sector and having five years experience, of which at least three years should be in Public Health activities) and 40% for Direct Candidates.
In-Service Candidates shall, at the time of application or counseling for admission, furnish a letter from their employer that, if they are admitted, they would be relieved for two years for undertaking the course on a full-time basis at NICD. Reservation will be as per Government/University norms: 27% for Other Backward Classes; 15% for Scheduled Castes; 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes; 5% for Defence category and 3% for Physically Handicapped Candidates. One seat, which is supernumerary in nature; is earmarked for Kashmiri migrants; for which the admission will be based on the Entrance Test.

SELECTION:
Selection will be on the basis of an Entrance Test to be conducted on 5 July 2009 (Sunday) in Delhi. WHO sponsored candidates are exempted from appearing in the entrance test and such candidates will be enrolled to the University directly. Application Procedure
Application Form and Information Bulletin for admission to MPH (FE) for the academic session 2009-10 will be available between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm on all working days from 4 June 2009 to 22 June 2009 on payment of Rs. 400/- (Four Hundred only) in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of "Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases" payable at "Delhi". For obtaining the same by registered post, a Demand Draft of Rs. 450/- (Four Hundred and Fifty) in favour of "Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases" payable at "Delhi" should be sent to the Administrative Officer (I), National Institute of Communicable Diseases, 22 Sham Nath Marg, Delhi-110054, so as to reach the Institute by 5.00 pm on 11 June 2009.

Application Form & Information Bulletin can also be downloaded from the website www.nicd.nic.in. Those who use downloaded Application Form must enclose a demand draft of Rs. 400/- (Rupees four hundred only), drawn in favour of "Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases" payable at "Delhi" with the application form. They should write their name and address on the reverse of bank draft.


SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:
Applications complete in all respects, should be submitted to the Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases on or before 5.00 pm on 22 June 2009. On the top of the envelope containing the application form, the words, "APPLICATION FOR MPH (FE) 2009" must be written.

Eligibility Criteria
Graduate (3 years degree course) in any subject of Humanities or Sciences (those appearing in 3rd year final exam may also apply). The student must be graduate from an Indian or recognised foreign university or has passed an examination recognised as equivalent to a degree: and possesses such other qualifications as may be prescribed by the Academic Council of the Institute from time to time.

All the students who are keen to seek admission to Master in Archaeology and Heritage Management (MAHM) and Master in Conservation, Preservation and Heritage Management (MCPHM) course and meeting the eligibility criteria (see para 4.1) must appear in the Entrance Test and Group Discussion which will be conducted by Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management on specified date.

M.A. in Social Work Admissions 2009-11


Delhi University

The Department of Social Work, University of Delhi announces admission to M.A. in Social Work for the academic session 2009-2011. The Department of Social Work is one of the oldest and premier institutions in India offering a two year post graduate degree in Social Work. This post-graduate course is primarily designed for those who seek opportunities in the field of social welfare and development practice.


Eligibility: The minimum eligibility for admission to the course is 50 percent marks in the Bachelor's Degree Examination (10+2+3). Five percent relaxation shall be provided for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories. Candidates awaiting their final year examination result can also apply.

Selection Procedure: Those satisfying eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through a two-stage process involving: (a) Written Test and (b) Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The admission test will be held on 29th June, 2009 at Delhi. The new academic session shall commence from July 17, 2009.

Admission Bulletin along with application forms shall be available from 20th May 2009 and may be obtained from the Department of Social Work against a cash payment of Rs.400/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates) at Department counter or by post or by downloading the form from website www.du.ac.in along with a demand draft of Rs.450/- (Rs.300/- in case of SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi.

M.A. in Social Work Admissions 2009-11

Ph.D/ M.Sc (Engineering) by Research .


Kerala University, Admission 2009

Applications in the prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for registration for Full time/Part time Research leading to Ph.D/M.Sc (Engineering) by Research degree of the University, for the July 2009 session.

Candidates shall carryout their research in a University Department or in a Department of a college recognised as research centre or in a recognised research institution under approved guide or guides.

Only candidates who have qualified in the Entrance Test conducted by this
University or National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC/ CSIR/ ICAR/ ICMR or
GATE or State Level Eligibility Test conducted by the Kerala Government or Fellowship awarded by the KSCSTE or who possess M.Phil degree by research and thesis, in addition to a Masters Degree or its equivalent with not less than 55% marks will be considered eligible to apply for registration for Ph.D research.

Bachelors Degree holders in Engineering with not less than 55% marks and who have qualified in the GATE or Entrance Test conducted by this University or State Level Eligibility Test conducted by the Kerala Government are eligible to apply for M.Sc (Engineering) by research course.

Candidates who have got a minimum of ten years of teaching experience at a college or University are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks. In no cases a candidate having less than 50% marks be granted registration.

Notwithstanding the above, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes who have secured 45% marks in Science subjects and 40% marks in Arts and Commerce subjects can apply for registration for Ph.D research, provided they satisfy the other eligibility requirements stipulated in this notification.

Physically/visually challenged candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for registration for research leading to Ph.D Degree.

College/University teachers with seven or more years of teaching experience and candidates with D.M/M.Ch Degree are exempted from the purview of the Entrance Test. Scientists/Engineers working in approved Research Laboratories either owned or managed by the Central/State Government or in Autonomous Research Institution of National Status, with seven years experience in the Grade Scientist/Engineer having two research papers published in the recognised research journals of the concerned subject approved by the Board of Studies concerned, are exempted from the Ph.D Entrance Test

Candidates with DBT-JRF are exempted from the Ph.D. Entrance Test and they are permitted to register for research leading to Ph.D. Degree in Biotechnology.

Scientists/Ayurveda Doctors working in Pharmaceuticals/Hospitals/Research Centres owned by Government with 7 years experience and having 2 research papers published are exempted from the Ph.D. Entrance Test.

Vacancies available under each supervising teachers/research centre can be ascertained from the supervising teacher and the Heads of the research centre. One seat in each subject is reserved for applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes if they are otherwise eligible.

The maximum number of candidates permitted to work under different categories of research guides is as follows:

1. Those working in University Departments - 10
2. Research guides who are working as Technical - 3 Staff in University Departments
3. Those working in recognised research institutions - 8
4. Those working in recognised departments of - 5 Affiliated colleges
5. Those retired from service - 5
6. Those having Research Centre at University Library - 2

However, the maximum number of full time research scholars, allowed to work under a supervising teacher, who is guiding a candidate eligible for the J.R.F of the UGC-CSIR is restricted to five.

Part-time Ph.D. registration shall be restricted to regular/permanent teachers of the Department and affiliated Colleges of the University of Kerala in the concerned subjects. Their applications should be accompanied by a certificate from the appointing authority stating that they are appointed on a regular basis in the College/Department.

The facility of part-time Ph.D. registration in Library and Information Science is also extended to those who are working as Library Staff in the University of Kerala on regular basis with a minimum of 3 years experience if all other conditions are satisfied.

Candidates who select University Departments as their research centres shall send their applications to the Head of the Department concerned. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall also, send a copy of their application to the Registrar. Those who select recognised Research Institutions/Departments of affiliated colleges shall send their applications to the Registrar.

Applications and other details can be had from the Section Officer, Forms Section, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram directly or by post on request with sufficiently stamped envelope and demand draft for Rs.10/-

Registration on the basis of merit and availability of vacancies will be granted subject to the University Statutes and other rules. The decision of the Syndicate will be final.

Duly filled in applications should be accompanied by a Chalan Receipt/Demand Draft of Rs.500/-

All remittance made by Demand Drafts should be drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The drafts drawn on S.B.T. Branches payable at S.B.T. Service Branch, Thiruvananthapuram and on District Cooperative Banks payable at State Co-operative Bank, Head Office Branch, Thiruvananthapuram only will be accepted from candidates residing within the State. Those residing outside the State may submit S.B.I. drafts payable at S.B.I. Main Branch, Thiruvananthapuram.

DELHI UNIVERSITY

University of Delhi invites applications for 3 Year M.Tech. in Nano Science and NanoTechnology, Jointly conducted by Department of Physics and Astrophysics

The duration of the course is six semesters. However, students will be required to undergo course work / training in the summer vacations during the three years of the programme, either in the Department or at other National Labs.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must have qualified Joint Admission Test (JAM) conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology. The candidate should have had atleast one year of Mathematics course during the B.Sc.. In addition the candidate should have secured atleast 60 % in one of the following courses.
• B.Sc. Honours in Physics / Chemistry / Biological Sciences

• B.Sc. Programme in Physical Sciences / Chemical Sciences / Biological Sciences

Relaxation in the minimum eligibility criterion:

The short listed candidates in order of merit would be called for interview. Final selection will be made on the basis of an Interview of the short -listed candidates.

Candidate who has completed any Master's Degree or pursuing any Master's Degree will not be eligible for this course.

Age Requirements

No Person shall be qualified for admission to the M.Tech course unless he/she is at least 20 years of age before the first of October in the year in which he/she seeks admission. However, the Vice-Chancellor may, on the basis of individual merit, relax the age limit up to a maximum period of six months.
