Admission notification for M.Phil and Ph.D

Eligibility:
I. For optional except Commerce and Computer Science Education:


i) BA/B.Sc. Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as
equivalent thereto under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 45% marks for
Part-II I Optional subjects. However, BA/B.Com degree holders under
Liberalized Scheme of this University are eligible to apply, provided they are
otherwise eligible.

ii) SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher
Quota need only a pass in the degree examination


iii) Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed
from the minimum required marks i.e, OEC candidates need only 40% and
OBC candidates 42% of marks.

II. For Commerce optional:

i) Candidates should have passed M.Com Degree of the University of Calicut
or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks.

ii) SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher
Quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.


Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidates need 45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks.

III. For Computer Science Education optional:

i) Candidates should have passed MCA/MSc. Computer Science/MSc
Electronics of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as
equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks

ii) SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under teacher
quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.


iii) Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be
allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidates need
45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks

Candidates shall opt as optional subject for the B. Ed course only the main subject in which they have passed the B.A/ B. Sc. degree with the following exemptions.


Graduates in History/Geography/Economics/Political Science/Islamic History/Sociology/Philosophy/Psychology will be eligible for admission to B.Ed. Course with Social Science as optional subject.

Graduates in Statistics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects and candidates possessing B. Sc. applied statistics Degree will be eligible for admission to B. Ed. Course with Mathematics as optional subject.

Graduates in Home Science/Geology with Physics/Chemistry as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission to Physical Science and those with Botany/Zoology/Life Science as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission with Natural Science as optional Subject for the B.Ed. Course

Candidates possessing B. Sc. Bio-Chemistry and B. Sc. Plant Science will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional

Candidates possessing B. Sc. Polymer Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry Degree will be considered for admission to Physical Science optional.

Candidates possessing B. Sc. Agricultural Degree with Bio-Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional.

Candidates possessing B. A. Functional English Degree will be eligible for B. Ed. admission in English optional.

Categories under IV should secure 45% marks in Part III Main and subsidiaries put together.

Fellowships under the DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Ph.D. (DGFS-Ph.D.)

HOMI BHABHA NATIONAL INSTITUTE (HBNI) invites applications for the award of fellowships under the DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Ph.D. (DGFS-Ph.D.) for pursuing research in an Engineering discipline leading to the award of Ph.D. degree of HBNI. The terms and conditions of the Fellowships are:

1. The DGFS-Ph.D Fellowship is tenable for three years for doing Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline in one of the four R & D centres listed above;

2. The amount of Fellowship payable under the scheme is Rs.18000/- (likely to be increased) per month besides house rent and medical benefits as per rules,

3. The Fellow will carry research under the joint supervision of two guides, one having strength in basic research and the other in technology development,

4. After the award of the Ph.D., the DGFS-Ph.D. fellows will have the option to appear for selection under K.S.Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA) programme without going through further process of screening. KSKRAs are selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.20,000/- (likely to be revised) + benefits for a maximum period of 2 years. Anytime during the 2nd year of associateship, subject to satisfactory performance, the KSKRAs will be absorbed in one of the R&D centres of DAE as above and appointed in the grade Scientific Officer (D/E).

ELIGIBILITY

a. Qualifying Degree and other academic qualifications:
Candidates should possess M. E. / M. Tech. degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Computer engineering disciplines with minimum 60% Marks in B. E. /B. Tech. and 60% marks in M. E. / M. Tech. as declared by the University or employed by it for declaring class OR equivalent CGPI (converted to % Marks by multiplying with 100/x if the CGPA is on x points scale).

b. Age limit:
The candidates desirous of availing DGFS-Ph.D. Fellowship should have been born on or after September 1, 1981. Age limit is relaxable by three years for OBC and by five years for SC/ST applicants.

c. Nationality:
Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants who fulfill the above mentioned eligibility criteria, and whose M.Tech. projects are of relevance to DAE shall be called for an interview to be conducted in the BARC, Mumbai in September 2009. The candidates should be prepared for a 10 minutes presentation on their research interest. Outstation applicants called for interview will be paid, after their interview, to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare, whichever is less.
