Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa shall conduct Goa Common Entrance Test 2013 (GCET-13) for admissions to Professional Degree courses in Engineering and Pharmacy in the State of Goa, for the academic year 2013-14. Admissions to Degree course in Architecture shall be on the basis of NATA and Admissions to Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Homeopathy shall be on the basis of NEET-2013

Eligibility:
Nationality:
Admission to professional courses in State of Goa is open to Indian nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria under various categories. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)  / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category.

Foreign Nationals and Persons of Indian Origin holding non-Indian passport must apply to Govt. of India.

Age:
An applicant to Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Homoeopathy must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the academic year of admission to become eligible for admission to First Year. No age limit, minimum or maximum, is specified for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture.

Qualifying Examination & Minimum Marks:
An applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination, which in scope and standard, is deemed to be equivalent to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board, and must have obtained the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects, as prescribed for the admission to respective professional courses, as under.

a. First Year MBBS, BDS and BHMS
Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English and secured not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category for MBBS and BDS Course).

b. First Year BE
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and secured not less than 45%* marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology. (40%* for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).

c. First Year BPharm
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Mathematics / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and secured not less than 45%* marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Chemistry with one of the following subjects Mathematics / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology. (40%* for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only). As per Pharmacy Council of India Regulations, candidates passing Senior Secondary School examination conducted by National Open School, New Delhi are not approved /eligible for admissions to BPharm.

d. First Year BArch:
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC / ST / OBC). OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central / State Governments with 50% aggregate marks. OR International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA will be eligible for admission to BArch

e. Kashmiri Migrants Only in Engineering Courses:
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and secured not less than 45% marks in the subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology.

Applications:
The prospectus shall be available at notified places on payment of Rs. 800/- in cash (Extra service charge notified payable to designated branches of notified Bank.)

Outstation candidates can obtain the prospectus and application form by sending request to Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Alto- Porvorim, Goa, 403521 along with a DD of Rs.800/- payable in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji. Candidates may utilize downloaded Application Form –A for appearing at GCET-13 and submit the same in person at notified Application Reception Centre as per centre opted, along with a DD of Rs. 800/- (towards the prospectus fee) and the test fee of Rs.600/- by demand draft payable in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa, drawn on any Scheduled Bank and three identical photographs as indicated, and other relevant certificates (self-attested photo copies) to obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee. Admit cards will be issued only to candidates in person.

DBT Fellowship Award under Initiative on the Neuro-Clinical Research Education (INCRE):2012-13

The Department of Biotechnology invites applications to support clinical research training in the Neurosciences under its “Initiative on Neuro-Clinical Research Education (INCRE) fellowship. There would be six fellowships/per year of one year duration for the next five years. The main objective of this fellowship is to facilitate hypothesis-driven research designed to address important issues in neuroscience by clinicians.

Each fellowship will consist of a consolidated stipend of Rs. 75,000/- pm for one year and Rs. 5.00 lakhs to support research at an institution of repute.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicant may be D.M./ M.Ch or MD- Psychiatry and interested in pursuingNeuroscience research along with clinical responsibility; and has completed residency within the past five years. Those early in their clinical career will be given priority.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION
Applications would be evaluated by a duly constituted committee. The award would be based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant’s ability and promise as a clinician-scientist based on prior record of achievement and career plan, letters of reference, and curriculum vitae
  • Research proposal including the hypothesis, scientific rationale, methodology, etc as per the format available on the DBT website.

  2. A letter of nomination from the Department forwarded by the Head/Competent authority of the Institute, including assurance that clinical service responsibilities will be restricted to no more than 20 percent of the fellow’s time.
  3. A brief of the research plan as per the format
  4. Two references for the applicant’s potential for clinical/academic research career and qualifications for the fellowship.
  5. The candidate should identify a mentor from the host institute and obtain a letter from him/her detailing the support and commitment to the applicant and the proposed research and training plan. The letter should specifically indicate the mentor’s role in the development and preparation of the applicant’s research plan. Mentor’s CV should also be enclosed.
  6. Letter of support from the host institution. Host institute should be duly recognized academic/research institution and willing to accept and extend necessary support to candidate for the proposed research work.

Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored Admissions

A limited number of seats are available for Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored candidates. Admission against these seats are based directly upon the merit and the applicants do not have to appear in the Aptitude Test. The eligibility for Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored candidates is 40% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (Except for B.Ed. where it is 50% and M.Ed. where it is 55%).
The following documents are required for admission against Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored seats:
(i) Original Certificates/ Marksheets of the qualifying examination.
(ii) Attested photocopies of the Passport and Visa of the NRI Sponsor of the applicant.
(iii) Foreign Bank Account Number or NRI Account Number of the NRI applicant or NRI Sponsor of the applicant.
(iv) Declaration regarding, Non-Resident Indian status of the NRI applicant or NRI Sponsor of the applicant.

RE-ADMISSION : If a student is separated from Banasthali or Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kutir and in the event Banasthali Vidyapith decides to readmit her, admission fee of Rs. 5,000/- shall be payable. The admission of a student shall be automatically cancelled due to unauthorized absence of three days or more.

Absence without prior written permission from the Vidyapith shall be treated as unauthorized absence.

Interdisciplinary School of Scientific Computing, University of Pune, Pune - 411007 has invited applications for admission to M.Sc. (Scientific Computing) programme of Academic Year 2013-14.

ELIGIBILITY
Educational Requirements : B.Sc. (Computer Science)/B.C.S. with minimum 50% marks (40% in case of Reserved Categories)

Candidates of reserved categories recognized by states other than Maharashtra will not be considered for these reserved seats.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The entrance examination results will be declared in 1st week of April. Top ranking students in various categories will be asked to submit required documents. Selected students will be given provisional admission in first week of June. The admission will be confirmed only after the student submits his final year results.

Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, Calcutta University announces early commencement of the following short term training courses for Junior Level Supervisory Courses for Jute Sector under integrated skill development scheme to be conducted in this department for Sponsored and General ( Non-sponsored) Candidates:
JLS-1 : 3-MONTHS JUNIOR LEVEL SUPERVISORY COURSE IN SPINNING PREPARATORY
(SELECTION-BATCHING TO DRAWING)-Intake -30

Among the above stated four modules of industry oriented Junior Level supervisory courses of 3-month duration for each module, Course No- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4 will be commenced from 9th January, 2013 at Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, Calcutta University, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata – 700 019 for both jute mill /jute organizations sponsored and nonsponsored general candidates. Jute Mill/Jute Organization may sponsor candidates for both JLS-1 and JLS-2 course to be continued at a stretch considering it as total 6 months duration in two modules of 3 months duration course splitted in two modules.

Eligibility
Any candidate who has passed madhyamik or equivalent may apply, but Class XII pass or Graduate
candidates with Jute Mill Sponsorship will be preferred. For Jute mill sponsored candidates, those who are engaged in the jute mill shop-floor work for a period of at least one year may be directly admitted after interview without any written admission test. General candidates have to appear in an written admission test and interview. SC/ST/OBC candidates will get special preference for admission in this course without admission test.

www.ijtindia.org  www.caluniv.ac.  or directly from the office of this department and should be submitted to the office of this department within2nd January, 2013 within 5 P.M after duly filled in and enclosing with attested copies of testimonials for the said three modules of JLS courses(Course no- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4 ) with a fee of Rs 500/- as application fee per application either in cash or draft in favour of“INSTITUTE OF JUTE TECHNOLOGY- ISDS account-2 (revenue)” payable at Kolkata. However, SC/ST candidates : Application Fee Rs 250/- , subjectto submission to the attested copy of caste certificate and original is to be produced to the office for such relaxation.

Important dates for Written Test, Interview and admission:

category of non-sponsored candidates ( except SC/ST) have to appear in aSelection test followed by an interview, which will be held on 3rdJanuary, 2013 at 12-00 A.Mfor all the said three module of JLS courses mentioned above (Course no- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4) Admission date4th January to 8th January, 2013. Class start : 9th January , 2013.

Placement Assistance: Placememt Assistance will also be provided.
Commencement of JLS-Course – 2 or subsequently in JLS course in other modules :
For any candidate passing one JLS course may apply for admission to another module of JLS course subsequently in next batch. In that case, they will be exempted from admission test and interview. Hence, If the candidates passing JLS course -1 is sponsored by mills/ or other jute organizations, the same candidates may continue the JLS-2 course at a stretch considering as a 6 months course. Moreover any candidate passing JLS-1 course may apply for admission in JLS course -2 , as a matter of fact of the continuation, there will be direct admission for them without any further admission test and interview and the same principle will be applicable for other module of JLS courses also.

Moreover, if any candidate completes all the four modules of JLS-1, 2, 3, and 4 courses in subsequent batches, they will be considered to award 1 year certificate in Jute Processing Technology and Maintenance (equivalent to 1 yr ITI certificate in jute trade) from this department to be recognized by appropriate authority of Vocational Education and Training.

Course Fee
For all categories of candidates, the course fee for each module of JLS Course is Rs. 7,000/- per JLS course of 3 months duration irrespective of category of candidates. After their name is announced for admission, all candidates have to deposit the course fee of Rs 7,000/- by Demand Draft in favour of “INSTITUTE OF JUTE TECHNOLOGY- ISDS account -2 (revenue) ” payable at Kolkata within 4th to 8th January, 2013.

Intake : Total intake for each module of JLS courses will be ordinarily around 30. Intake may be increased as per decision of the appropriate authority.

Sponsorship :
For the sponsored candidates, original letter of sponsorship from the Unit Head of the Sponsoring
