TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR DIPLOMATE NATIONAL BOARD

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: 1) Applicant should be an Indian citizen. 2) The applicant should have passed MBBS degree examination and completed one year CRRI programme from any recognized University in India. 3) The applicant should have either a CET / Primary pass certificate from the National Board Examination or PG Diploma pass certificate in the concerned subject. 4) For super speciality courses the applicant should pass the P.G (MD / DNB) course in the recommended speciality. 5) The applicant should have a valid medical council registration. 6) Maximum age limit is 45 years as on the last date of submission of application form.
HOW TO APPLY: Application should be made in the prescribed form, which can be downloaded from the website ( www.kottayammedicalcollege.org ) A Fee of Rs.1000 /- (Rs. Thousand only) has to be remitted by way of Treasury chalan only, in the head of account of “ 0210-03-105-99-DNB Application fee ” and original chalan receipt has to be attached along with the application. Last date for receipt of filled in application is on 25th Jan 2008 at 05.00PM. Duly filled application form along with the chalan receipt in original and attested true copies of the following documents should reach the office of the (The Principal, GOVERNMENT MEDICAL, COLLEGE,GANDHINAGAR P.O, KOTTAYAM- 686008) on or before 25th-01-2008.
Enclose the following with the application: 1) SSLC (or) equivalent (Relevant page to prove date of birth & Nativity). 2) MBBS Degree certificate. 3) All MBBS Mark lists. 4) CRRI Certificate. 5) CET / Primary / Diploma pass certificate. 6) A valid medical council registration certificate. 7) Those who are in Government service should submit the No Objection Certificate from the employer. 8) Relieving Order from the concerned authority should be submitted at the time of admission, if selected. 9) Late or incomplete application will be rejected.

FEES: Fees will be charged on par with those for MD/MS course and for Super Specialty courses. Fees remitted will not be refunded, under any circumstances.
STIPEND: The trainees will be paid stipend, as per the directions of the Government of Kerala.

MODE OF SELECTION: (1) Selection will be made as per the rank list prepared by this office based on the marks of the MBBS examination + Interview (2) Rank list will be based on (a) Marks obtained in MBBS examination - Total marks for final MBBS Part I & II and marks for concerned subject will be added and converted to marks out of a maximum of 50 marks. (b) Interview conducted by a panel to assess skills and aptitude – 50 marks (3) Interview will be conducted by a panel constituted for the purpose as per the guidelines of NBE. (4) The candidate can apply for a maximum of 2 subjects only. (5) Selected candidates will have to join the course on the prescribed date by producing all the requisite documents in original and paying the prescribed fees; failing which, they will forfeit their seat and the seats thus falling vacant will be filled up by the candidates from wait list, having validity for one month from the date of admission. (6) Selected candidates shall register with the National Board with in one month of joining the course. (7) The selected candidates will abide by the rules and regulations of the college and will not engage in private practice during the period of training.

BONDED OBLIGATIONS: (1) a. All candidates should serve the Government of Kerala (Under Medical Education Service) for a period of one year. b. The candidates who are already in Government service will serve the Government (Under Medical Education Service or DHS) for a period not less than Five years. (2) The candidate should submit two bonds at the time of admission a. That he/she would refund the amount received as stipend plus an amount of Rs. 500,000/- as liquidated damages. b. A bond that he/she would serve the Government of Kerala under the Directorate of Medical Education for a period of one year failing which he /she would be required to pay Rs. 10 Lakhs as damages.
LEAVE: (1) The candidate should have a minimum percentage of attendance as stipulated by the NBE. All the 365 days of the year are working days for DNB students. However, they will be permitted to avail casual leave for 20 days, but not more than 10 days at a stretch. Any other leave will entail extension of the course. The candidate will also be eligible for “ leave under exceptional circumstances” supported by medical certificate (Subject to verification by medical board) recommended by the Head of the Department and sanctioned by the Head of the Institution. This leave will also be subject to extension. The candidate will be eligible for stipend during the period of extension only. Those who take leave without prior sanction are liable to be considered to be on unauthorized absence. If the candidate is unauthorisedly absent for more than 10 days, he/she will be terminated from the course and liquidated damages will be levied. (2) All DNB students are eligible for weekly off for one day. This will be allowed by the Head of the Department concerned without affecting the routine functioning of the department. Weekly off cannot be accumulated. (3) DNB students are permitted to attend CMEs, Workshops and other academic programmes conducted by the recognized academic bodies in India, without affecting the routine working of the departments concerned and without financial commitment on the part of the Government. The head of the departments shall sanction special casual leave for a maximum of five days in a year to DNB candidates provided they apply prior to the programme and the head of the department is convinced about the genuinity of the programme and utility for the particular course. The student on returning from the programme should submit attendance certificate to the head of the department. (4) No DNB student shall leave the country without prior sanction of the Government. Any violation will be viewed seriously warranting termination of the course. (5) The candidate should have to complete full course of two or three years as stipulated, before appearing for the final examination.

SUBJECTS FOR TRAINING: Anatomy (2), Physiology (1), Pathology (3), Community Medicine (1), General Medicine (1), Paediatrics (3), Psychiatry (2), E N T ( Oto Rhino Larngylogy ) (2), Ophthalmology (2), O B S T & Gynecology (1), Orthopaedics (3), Cardiology (1), Nephrology (2), Urology (1), Anaesthesiology (4).

No personal communication will be sent informing the date, time & venue for interview /Admission of selected candidates. The time schedule as per clause IX are subject to change if unforeseen situation arises, in such case, the scheduled programme will be conducted on the next working day. The jurisdiction for court cases/disputes shall be in the state of Kerala in the Honorable High Court of Kerala.
