Microsoft Research offers internship opportunities at research locations around the world. The majority of our interns are PhD students in the field of Computer Science, related technical majors, or social sciences with a technical focus, but we also accept a small group of outstanding students with a proven research focus who are master’s or bachelor’s candidates. Internships at Microsoft Research provide students with the opportunity to apply research and theory to practice while working with well-known researchers and networking with fellow PhD students from around the world.
Duration: Internships at Microsoft Research last for a minimum of 12 weeks — long enough to develop a project and make a significant contribution. Most of our North America internship opportunities are available throughout the year, and we will work with you and your team to define best start and end dates.
Eligibility: Intern candidates must be students enrolled in a relevant field of study, such as computer science, engineering, or social sciences with a focus on computer technology. The majority of our interns are PhD candidates; however, we also accept some master’s and bachelor’s students who demonstrated a serious interest in research.
