Applications are invited on prescribed form for admission to the following courses for the academic Year 2008 - 2009:

ADMISSION NOTICE
Applications are invited on prescribed form for admission to the following courses for the academic Year 2008 - 2009.
A) SUPERSPECIALITY COURSES
1. DM Degree in Neuroradiology
(a) No. of Seats: 2 (b) Duration: 3 Years
(c) Minimum Qualification for Admission: MD/DNB in Radiodiagnosis

2. DM Degree in Neurology
(a) No. of Seats: 6*
(b) Duration0
(i) 3 Years for Post MD/DNB in General Medicine or Paediatrics Candidates
(ii) 5 Years for Post MBBS Candidates

3. M.Ch. Degree in Neurosurgery
(a) No. of Seats: 6*
(b) Duration
(i) 3 Years for Post MS/DNB in General Surgery Candidates
(ii) 5 Years for Post MBBS Candidates
* 3 Seats for Post MBBS Candidates and 3 seats for Post MD/DNB candidates for DM in Neurology and 3 seats for Post MBBS Candidates and 3 seats for Post MS/DNB General Surgery Candidates for M.Ch. in Neurosurgery. If suitable candidate/s are not available in any one of the above category, such unutilized seats will be filled by the Candidates from the other category.

B) Ph.D. IN CLINICAL NEUROSCIENCES (ICMR Programme)
(a) Duration: 5 Years
(b) Minimum Qualification: MBBS degree with not less than 55% of the Marks of any University recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The Candidate should have completed satisfactorily one year compulsory rotating internship or its equivalent as recognized by the MCI after passing the final MBBS examination and must have full registration with a State Medical Council.

C) POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP COURSES
1. Neuroanaesthesia
(a) No. of Seats: 4 (2 for foreign/sponsored) (b) Duration: 1 Year (c) Minimum Qualification for Admission: MD/DNB in Anaesthesia

2. Neuropathology
(a) No. of Seats: 2 (1 for foreign/sponsored) (b) Duration: 1 Year (c) Minimum Qualification for Admission: MD/DNB in Pathology

3. Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
(a) No. of Seats: 2 (1 for sponsored) (b) Duration: 1 Year (c) Minimum Qualification for Admission: MD/DNB in Psychiatry

D) B.Sc. COURSES
1. B.Sc. in Nursing
(a) No. of Seats: 75 (b) Duration: 4 Years (c) Minimum Qualification for Admission:
(i) Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course) OR (ii) Senior School Certificate Examination Pre-degree Examination (10+2) OR (iii) An Equivalent with 12 years of Schooling from a recognized Board (With Physics, Chemistry,Biology & English with a minimum of 50% aggregate)

2. B.Sc. in Radiography
(a) No. of Seats: 10 (4 for Sponsored, 6 for private Candidates)
If the number of candidates from either of the two category is less than indicated,
the corresponding number of candidates will be selected from the other category.
(b) Duration: 3 Years
(c) Minimum Qualification for Admission:
(i) Pre University Course OR
(ii) Job Oriented Diploma course from a recognized Board with Diagnostic Radiography as vocational subject or Equivalent OR (iii) An Equivalent with 12 years of
Schooling from a recognized Board (With Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology & English)

E) DIPLOMA COURSES
1. Diploma in Clinical Neurophysiology Technology (DCNT)
(a) No. of Seats: 8 (*4 for sponsored)
(b) Duration: 1 Year
(c) Minimal Qualification: B.Sc. with Physics/Electronics/Computer Science with minimum Second Class in the qualifying examination or Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation/Computer (Approved by Board of Technical Education) or PUC with 3 years Experience as EEG Technician.

2. Certificate Course in Neuroimaging & Technology (CNT)
(a) No. of Seats: 2 (**for sponsored only)
(b) Duration: 1 Year
(c) Minimal Qualification: Diploma in Radiographic Technology from Vocational Board of Government of Karnataka or equivalent qualification or Bachelors degree in Radiation Technology from any recognized University or equivalent qualification.
**Sponsored candidates means sponsored by the State/Central Government or Public Sector Undertaking of State/Central Government.

Common for all Courses: The qualifying degrees for all the above mentioned courses should be from a recognized University. For medical qualification, the degree should be recognized by the Medical Council of India.

F) GUIDELINES:
In respect of Medical Courses, the candidates should have completed one-year internship and registration with State Medical Council on or before 31st July 2008 (proof of completion from competent authority to be produced at the time of joining, failing which admission will be cancelled).

G) FEES/EMOLUMENTS/RESERVATION OF SEATS:

H) RESERVATION OF SEATS:
In respect of B.Sc. courses and Diploma in Clinical Neurophysiology Technology (DCNT), 15% seats are reserved for SC, 7.5% seats are reserved for ST Candidates.


INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Application forms and Prospectus can be downloaded from our website and can also be obtained from the Director, NIMHANS on request by mentioning the course and enclosing a Demand Draft towards application fee* drawn in favour of the Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore-560029, along with a self addressed stamped envelope (30cm x 25cm) affixing stamp worth Rs.20/-
2. FEE:
Medical Courses:
Application fee: Rs.500/- (non-refundable) and (Rs.400/- (non-refundable) in case of SC/ST candidates)
Registration fee: Rs.500/- per course and (Rs.400/- (non-refundable) in case of SC/ST candidates)
B.Sc./Diploma Courses: Rs.500/- (non-refundable) and (Rs.400/- (non-refundable) in case of SC/ST candidates)
Registration fee: NIL
3. Candidates may apply for more than one course provided they are eligible.
4. Candidates can apply in the same application (Medical Application) form for all Superspeciality/Post Doctoral Fellowship courses. Candidates applying for B.Sc. and Diploma Courses should apply on separate application (Non Medical) form for each course.
5. Foreign Nationals are required to submit their applications through the Diplomatic Channel (through the Ministry of External Affairs). They shall also appear for the common Entrance Test along with the other candidates.
6. Sponsored candidates should submit their application through proper channel and they should also appear for the Common Entrance Test.
7. AGE LIMIT: For superspeciality Courses age should not be more than 32 years for MBBS degree holders and 35 for PG medical degree holders, relaxable in case of SC/ST Candidates by a maximum of 5 years as on 1.8.2008. For sponsored candidates age should not be more than 40 years as on 1.8.2008.
For B.Sc. courses, age should not be less than 17 years as on 1.8.2008 and should not have completed 25 years as on 1.8.2008
8. Duly filled in application should be sent to the Director, NIMHANS, Hosur Road, Bangalore – 560 029 along with a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, NIMHANS by superscribing the name of the course applied for on the Envolope without fail.
9. Applications down loaded from the Website should be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Non refundable) (Rs.400/- in case of SC/ST) towards application fee and Registration fee as indicated as above in case of Superspeciality/Post Doctoral Fellowship courses. There is no registration fee for B.Sc. and Diploma courses.

10. Last date for issuing of application:
Through post : 25th March 2008
In person : 31s March 2008

11. Last date for receipt of filled in application : 5th April 2008
12. Entrance Test will be held in Bangalore on : 29th June 2008

13. Commencement of the Courses : 1st August 2008

Incomplete applications, applications without enclosures i.e., for Medical courses: Mark Sheet year wise, Attempt, Internship Completion, Degree, Registration Certificates and Birth Certificate/SSLC Marks sheet. Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST category. Non Medical courses: Qualifying exam mark sheets, Certificate, Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST category and experience certificate if applicable). Applications without Demand Draft or insufficient Demand Draft will be rejected. The Demand Draft or application of the rejected candidates will not be returned at any cost. No communication will be given against the rejected applications. Demand Draft or enclosures sent subsequently will not be considered. Applications will strictly not be received after 5th April 2008. No interim enquiry or correspondence will be entertained. The applications should be downloaded on A4 size paper only and SHOULD NOT BE FOLDED. Candidates called for Entrance Test and Counseling must be present at the venue within the stipulated time failing which they will not be considered for Entrance Test or Counseling at any cost.

Eligible candidates for Entrance Test will be intimated by post and institute will not take any responsibility for non-receipt of the call letters. List of qualified candidates for counseling will be notified on the Institute’s Notice Board and Website. No separate individual intimation will be given. The decision of the Director in all matters regarding selection will be final and no representation in any form will be entertained. The candidate must visit the website from time to time for all necessary details and updates on the above.
