ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT
(11th BATCH OF MBA PROGRAMME 2009-2011)



The School of Management Studies (SMS) at the University of Hyderabad offers two-year full-time MBA Programme.

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates (a) should have completed a three year bachelor's degree programme (or its equivalent) in any discipline in an institution recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/ AICTE. Those completing their final examinations by June, 2009 can also apply. (b) should have applied for CAT-2008 SCHEDULED ON 16-11-2008 (The IIMs CAT advertisement appeared in leading newspapers on 14th July, 2008)


HOW TO APPLY:
Prospectus-cum-application forms can be obtained in person or by post from 13th October 2008 on all working days from the Deputy Registrar (Acad. & Exam) University of Hyderabad, PO: Central University, Hyderabd - 500046, against cash payment up to 20-11-2008.

Each copy costs Rs.300/- for General and OBC Category candidates and Rs.50/- for SC/STPH category candidates.

The same can also be obtained by ordinary post upto 17th November, 2008 from the Deputy Registrar (Acad. & Exams) by sending; (a) a requision, (b) one self-addressed slip, (c) a crossed demand draft for Rs.350/- for General and OBC category candidates and Rs.100/- for SC/ST/PH category candidates drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad payable at State Bank of India, HU Campus Branch (Code No.5916), Hyderabad-46 or Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch (Code NO.378), Hyderabad-500001.


Prospectus-cum-Application form can also be downloaded from the University's website at www.uohyd.ernet.in. from 13th October, 2008. The downloaded application form, duly filled in as per the instructions and with supporting papers should be sent to the Deputy Registrar (Acad. & Exams) together with a Bank Draft of Rs.150/- in the case of General Category and OBC and Rs.50/- in the case of SC/ST/PH category.


LAST DATE FOR SALE OF APPLICATIONS AND RECEIPT OF FILLED IN APPLICATIONS BY THE UNIVERSITY IS 20-11-2008.

Special Admission Announcement for 2008-2009 for SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates - PG and PG Diploma, M.Phil., M.Tech., and Ph.D

Special Admission Announcement for 2008-2009
(Mainly for the attention for SC, ST, OBC & PH candidates)

In continuation of the Admission Announcement 2008-2009 dated 28-03-2008 published in all leading news papers including Eenadu/ Hindu, Indian Express, Andhra Jyothi, Times of India etc., inviting applications for admission to post-graduate and research programmes during 2008-2009, the following is notified for the benefit of prospective SC, ST, OBC & PH applicants.

I (i) 15%, 7.5% & 3% seats in each course are reserved for SC, ST & PH candidates respectively with a provision for interchangeability between SC & ST wherever necessary.
(ii) For admission to Integrated Master’s degree, PG and PG Diploma courses, relaxation of marks in the minimum eligible condition for admission is provided. There will be no cut off point in the entrance examination for admission to these courses;
(iii) For admission to M.Phil., M.Tech., and Ph.D., a relaxation of 5% marks I the minimum eligibility condition (subject to a minimum of a second class) will be provided. There will be no cut off marks in the entrance examination (i.e. written and oral test) for admission to these courses also. The cut off marks for final selection will depend on the number of seats.
(iv) Seats available in the University Hostels will be provided to them as per G.O.I. norms.
(v) These students may avail social welfare and other Govts scholarships as per their eligibility.
(vi) Remedial courses in English and other subjects will be arranged if necessary.

II (i) As per the decision of the GOI, (after the clearance form the Honorable Supreme Court of India), 27% of the seats are reserved for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates in al the courses, which will be filled over a period of three years (including the current year 2008-2009). There is no relaxation in the minimum qualification for admission and cost of application cum prospectus for OBCs. The cut-off marks in the entrance examination (both written and interview put together) for OBC candidates would be 10% lower than the cut off marks prescribed for General Category.
(ii) Candidates claiming reservation under OBC category must enclose an attested copy of the Certificate on their OBC and Non-Creamy Layer status to the application issued by a competent authority failing which their application will not be considered under OBC category.
(iii) Those who have already applied without claiming the reservation under OBC category may now send an attested copy of the certificate on their OBC and non-Creamy Layer status with a letter indicating the name of the candidate, course and the subject applied for, so as to reach the Dy. Registrar (A&E), University of Hyderabd on or before 10.05.2008.

Prospectus cum Application forms can be obtained in person from the Academic Section, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Administration Building, University Campus, Hyderabad-500046 or from Golden Threshold (GT) premises of the University at Nampally Station Road, Hyderabad 500001, against cash payment of Rs.50/- for SC, ST & PH candidates and Rs.300/- for OBC candidates. The forms can also be downloaded from the University website available for downloading upto 10.05.2008 and submit along with the prescribed fee of Rs.50/- and Rs.300/- respectively.

LAST DATE FOR SUBMISISON OF FILLED IN APPLICATION IS 10.05.2008

It may be noted all the prospective applicants that the last date sale prospectus cum application forms at the University counters and the receipt of filled in applications is extended up to 10th May, 2008.

ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT 2008 –2009.

The University of Hyderabd was established by an Act of Parliament in 1974 and emerged as a premier center of higher learning with outstanding student output and faculty who have to their credit notable accomplishments. The University offers facilities for post-graduate and research studies in major disciplines in sciences (including Medical Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Technology), humanities, social sciences, performing arts, fine arts, communication and management studies. Admissions are made on all-India basis in order of merit in the entrance examination. The University offers fellowships to al the students admitted to any of its regular programs of study.

The entrance examinations for admission to various courses during 2008-2009 will be held form 1st to 7th June, 2008 at Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabd, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Patna, Pune, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The University reserves the right to cancel any of the examination centers and allot another nearer center for applicants of the center cancelled.

General Information:
Detailed information regarding entrance examinations and qualifications for admissions etc. are given in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2008-2009.

Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree and expecting their results and certificates before 31st July 2008 are also eligible to apply.

Reservation of seats:
In each course, 15% and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively with a provision for inter-changeability wherever necessary 3% of the seats are reserved for Physically challenged candidates. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree/other examination is also provided for these categories. For further details, refer to the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2008-2009.

How to Apply:
Prospectus-cum-Application Forms can be obtained in person from 04.04.2008 to 03.05.2008 from the Academic Section, Office of the Controller of Examinations Administration Building on the University Campus, Hyderabd-500046 or from “The Golden Threshold (GT) premises of the University, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabd 500001”, against cash payment.

The Prospectus-cum-Application forms can also be obtained by ordinary post upto 27.04.2008 from the Dy. Registrar (Acad & Exams), University of Hyderabd, P.O. Central University, Hyderabad-500046 by sending (a) a requisition, (b) one self-addressed adhesive sticker/skip, and (c) a crossed demand draft for the amount specified for the respective category i.e., Rs.300/- - in the case of General Category and Rs.50/- in the case of SC/ST/PH categories for each copy of prospectus-cum-application form together with Rs.50/- towards the ordinary postal charges drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabd, on State Bank of India, Hyderabd Central University Campus Branch, Hyderabad (Code 5916) or on Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch, Hyderabad (Code 378). The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be downloaded form the University’s website (available from 04.04.2008 to 03.05.2008) and duly filled in such applications can be sent enclosing there with a bank draft of Rs.150/- for each course in the case of General Category and Rs.50/- for each course in the case of SC/ST/PH categories.

1. Prospectus-cum-Application Forms meant for reserved categories (SC/ST/PH) should not be used by the General Category candidates.
2. The cost of Prospectus-cum-Application form for SC/ST/PH does not include entrance examination/registration fee as they are exempted form payment of entrance examination fee.
3. The cost of the Prospectus-cum-Application form for SC/ST/PH does not include entrance examination/registration fee as they are exempted from payment of entrance examination/ registration fee.
4. A separate application is required for each course, except for MFA (Painting/Print Making/ Sculpture); M.Sc. (Mathematics/Applied Mathematics; M.Tech (CS/AI/IT); IMSc Sciences in Mathematical Sciences/Physics/Chemical Sciences/Systems Biology), IMA Humanities (Hindi/Telugu/Urdu), and IMA Social Sciences, MPA Dance (Kuchipudi/Bharatanatyam/ Contemporary/Folk), M.A. Communication (Radio & Video production/Print & New Media/Communication studies/Advertising & Public Relations) for which a single application form can be used.
5. Filled in application can be sent either by post to the Deputy Registrar (Acad & Exams) at the above address or submitted at the Automated Admission Office in the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Administration Building in the University /campus,Hyderabad-500046. For further details, refer to the instructions provided in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2008-2009.

(3) MBA (4 Semesters): Candidates are selected for admission from among the CAT qualified candidates after hold Group Discussion/Interview by the University. Selection for the admissions for the academic year 2008-2009 have been completed. Applicants who want to be considered for admission during the academic year 2009-2010 should appear for the CAT 2008 and apply to the university separately as per the University’s advertisement press release in August/September 2008.
(4) M.Sc. Biotechnology: The admissions for the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme during the year 2008-2009 will be based on the allotment made by the JNU, New Delhi which will conduct a common entrance test on 18.05.2008.
