This program is offered by Department of Computer Science, BIT, Mesra Extension Centre, Noida. The program of M.Tech (Computer Science) (Part Time) is of six-semester duration in which first four semesters are entirely coursework-oriented and the remaining two semesters involve thesis work.

The program of M.Sc. (Information Technology) (Part Time) is offered by Department of Information Technology, BIT, Mesra Extension Centre, Noida is of six-semester duration in which first five semesters are entirely coursework-oriented and the remaining one semester involve thesis work.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT FOR COURSES
For M.Tech (CS) (PT) course:
B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / Electrical or equivalent with a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST).

OR
MCA with a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST)

OR
M. Sc in Computer Science or equivalent with 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST)
Relevant work experience of two years.
For M.Sc. (IT) (PT) course:
BCA / B.Sc. Electronics / B.Sc. Computer Science with 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST)
Relevant work experience of one year.

Current intake for both the programmes is 20 each.

Graduate from a recognised University with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or at graduation and minimum of 45% aggregate marks for open category and 40% for reserved category. Selection Process : Selection for admission to the Ph.D. programme will be done on the basis of an interview to he held at NCL in broad disciplines of Organic Chemistry, Catalysis, Life Sciences, Physical & Theoretical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Polymer Science and Chemical Engineering. The number of students to be selected in each of the above disciplines will depend on the vacancies that will exist for each of the disciplines. Tenure:
The selected JRFs will be eligible for a stipend of Rs.12,000/- p.m. + House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible under rules and a Contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per annum. The research activity in the Institute centers around the areas of theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics, nuclear physics and high energy physics.

The Predoctoral programme is designed to train fresh M.Sc. students for conducting research activities.

Eligibility: The Institute invites application for the Pre-doctoral Programme from Indian nationals having the following qualifications : –

* M.Sc. Physics with minimum 55% marks (in aggregate).

* GATE qualifiers with minimum score of 95 percentile having current validity or, CSIR / UGC- NET qualifiers (for research fellowship) within last one year.

Candidates who have qualified JEST-2009 with a minimum score of 95 Percentile need not send any application. They will be contacted directly by the Institute. If a candidate has scored less than 95 percentile in JEST-2009 but satisfies any of the criteria for GATE/NET as above, he/she should also send the application.

Candidates appearing for the final semester/ year of M.Sc., who have already qualified in GATE or CSIR/UGC-NET can also apply. They should submit the relevant proof before joining the pre-doctoral programme. In case of non-availability of the M.Sc. results at the time of joining, the admission will be treated as provisional.

Admission Procedure : All eligible candidates, whether through JEST-2009 or through application against this advertisement, will have to appear for a short written test in the morning of 18 June 2009. Result of written test will be published the same day and short-listed candidates will have to appear for interview on 18-19 June, 2009. Final merit list will be based on the scores of both the written test and the interview.

During the pre-doctoral and the first year of the Ph.D. programme, students are placed in Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) grade and are paid Rs. 12,000/- p.m. fellowship.

On completion of the Pre-doctoral programme, the students are eligible to join for research under the supervision of faculty members of the Institute, leading to the Ph.D. degree awarded by Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be university within the Department of Atomic Energy.
