ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT 2008 –2009.

The University of Hyderabd was established by an Act of Parliament in 1974 and emerged as a premier center of higher learning with outstanding student output and faculty who have to their credit notable accomplishments. The University offers facilities for post-graduate and research studies in major disciplines in sciences (including Medical Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Technology), humanities, social sciences, performing arts, fine arts, communication and management studies. Admissions are made on all-India basis in order of merit in the entrance examination. The University offers fellowships to al the students admitted to any of its regular programs of study.

The entrance examinations for admission to various courses during 2008-2009 will be held form 1st to 7th June, 2008 at Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabd, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Patna, Pune, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The University reserves the right to cancel any of the examination centers and allot another nearer center for applicants of the center cancelled.

General Information:
Detailed information regarding entrance examinations and qualifications for admissions etc. are given in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2008-2009.

Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree and expecting their results and certificates before 31st July 2008 are also eligible to apply.

Reservation of seats:
In each course, 15% and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively with a provision for inter-changeability wherever necessary 3% of the seats are reserved for Physically challenged candidates. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree/other examination is also provided for these categories. For further details, refer to the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2008-2009.

How to Apply:
Prospectus-cum-Application Forms can be obtained in person from 04.04.2008 to 03.05.2008 from the Academic Section, Office of the Controller of Examinations Administration Building on the University Campus, Hyderabd-500046 or from “The Golden Threshold (GT) premises of the University, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabd 500001”, against cash payment.

The Prospectus-cum-Application forms can also be obtained by ordinary post upto 27.04.2008 from the Dy. Registrar (Acad & Exams), University of Hyderabd, P.O. Central University, Hyderabad-500046 by sending (a) a requisition, (b) one self-addressed adhesive sticker/skip, and (c) a crossed demand draft for the amount specified for the respective category i.e., Rs.300/- - in the case of General Category and Rs.50/- in the case of SC/ST/PH categories for each copy of prospectus-cum-application form together with Rs.50/- towards the ordinary postal charges drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabd, on State Bank of India, Hyderabd Central University Campus Branch, Hyderabad (Code 5916) or on Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch, Hyderabad (Code 378). The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be downloaded form the University’s website (available from 04.04.2008 to 03.05.2008) and duly filled in such applications can be sent enclosing there with a bank draft of Rs.150/- for each course in the case of General Category and Rs.50/- for each course in the case of SC/ST/PH categories.

1. Prospectus-cum-Application Forms meant for reserved categories (SC/ST/PH) should not be used by the General Category candidates.
2. The cost of Prospectus-cum-Application form for SC/ST/PH does not include entrance examination/registration fee as they are exempted form payment of entrance examination fee.

5. Filled in application can be sent either by post to the Deputy Registrar (Acad & Exams) at the above address or submitted at the Automated Admission Office in the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Administration Building in the University /campus,Hyderabad-500046. (3) MBA (4 Semesters): Candidates are selected for admission from among the CAT qualified candidates after hold Group Discussion/Interview by the University. Selection for the admissions for the academic year 2008-2009 have been completed. Applicants who want to be considered for admission during the academic year 2009-2010 should appear for the CAT 2008 and apply to the university separately as per the University’s advertisement press release in August/September 2008.
(4) M.Sc. Biotechnology: The admissions for the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme during the year 2008-2009 will be based on the allotment made by the JNU, New Delhi which will conduct a common entrance test on 18.05.2008.

Eligibility of Admission:
Bachelors Degree in any discipline. Those who passed Part I and II and appearing for the final year / semester Degree examination can also apply. (Admission of these candidates will be provisional and will be regularized on production of qualifying certificates on or before 30.09.2008)

Mode of Selection
Admission to the above courses will be strictly on the basis of the marks obtained t the Entrance Examination. Admission to M.A. Theatre will be governed by an aptitude test also.
Examination and Centres
a) The Entrance Examiantion for M.A. and P.G. Diploma will be from 14.05.2008 to 17.05.2008 at Thiruvananthapuram, Panmana, Ettumanoor, Kalady, Thuravoor, Thrissur, Tirur, Koyilandy and Payyanur and such other centres to be decided later.
b) M.S.W. Entrance Examination will be held on 18.05.2008 in Main Centre, Kalady, Thuravoor, Tirur and Payyannur.
Option Facility:
There will be separate examination for each subject and candidates can opt only for three subjects for the examination, part from Diploma and M.S.W. The candidates are free to apply for any discipline regardless of the subjects they have taken in their graduate level except, for M.A. Music and Dance. 10% weightage on the basis of performance in the written test will be given to students those who have taken same subject as main/core in the Degree level.
How to get application:
Application for the various courses of study can be had form the Offices of the Directors of Main Centre, Kalady and Regional Centre on payment of the prescribed fee Rs.100/- (Rs.250 for M.S.W.) payable in cash. Candidates belong to SC/ST need pay only Rs.25/- for M.A. and Rs.50 for M.S.W.
Those who intend to get the application by post may make such a requisition to the Registrar along with a crossed Demand Draft for Rs.100/- (Rs.250/- for M.S.W.) drawn in favour of the Finance Office, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady payable at Union Bank of India. Kalady together with two self addressed stamped envelope for Rs.10/-.
Return of filled-in Application:
Duly filed in applications complete in all respects should be returned in person or by post to the Registrar, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. P.O., Ernakulam District, Kerala, Pin-683574. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected.

ICMR in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh will hold a National level examination for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), for Indian national candidates at Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkatta Mumbai and Hyderabad on Sunday, July 13th, 2008.
A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded; 120 fellowships awarded in Life Sciences stream (like microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, genetics, human biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, immunology, zoology, environmental sciences, botany, veterinary sciences etc), and thirty (30) fellowships in social sciences stream (like Psychology, Sociology, Home Science, Statistics, Anthropology and Social work).
Application form duly completed must reach the Registrar; Academic Section PGIMER, Chandigarh- 160012 by registered/Speed post on or before 25.4.2008. Candidate from remote areas /regions may submit their application forms duly completed latest by 2.5.2008.

Eligibility:
Educational: M.Sc/M.A or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General/OBC Candidates and 50% for the SC/ST & physically handicapped (PH) candidates in the subjects mentioned above.
Candidates appearing in the final year examination (2007-2008) can also apply.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 28 years as on 30-09-2008 (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/ female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC.

Indian agriculture faces numerous challenges with rapidly changing business environment, pace of technological change, globalization, competitive environment and changing role of government. These challenges will place unparalleled demands on the capabilities of tomorrow’s managers. The policies of globalization have taken India agriculture into the global village, opening up unprecedented opportunities as will as great challenges. These and other concomitant forces of change are placing significant demands for managerial skills in the Agri-Business sector. The programme prepares students for managerial and entrepreneurial career in enterprises serving or dependent on agriculture and allied sectors. These enterprises may be engaged in activities such as: Production and marketing of Inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, from machinery and equipment, livestock feed, irrigation, and credit; Production, Procurement, Processing, and Marketing of Output such as agriculture (includes crops, livestock, fisheries, forestry, agro forestry, horticulture, dairying) market5ing, agro processing, and food processing; Providing Services to Agriculture such as export and import, rural banking, financing agri projects, insurance, logistics, water management, research and development, and rural energy.

Eligibility:
The minimum Qualification for admission into the programme is a Bachelors degree with at least second division or equivalent OGPA in Agriculture or allied subjects, Veterinary Science or Dairy Technology, Food Technology from any Agricultural University or Degree in Bio Technology / Microbiology /Life Science / Commerce from any Institution recognized by the ICAR / UGC.Candidates who are yet to complete their graduation this year and are unable to submit their provisional certificate and mark sheet along with theapplication may also apply. They must, however, submit along with their application, their mark sheets/grade card indicating the cumulative marks/OGPA till the previous year/semester and also indicate the same in the application form. Their provisional eligibility will be decided based on the same. If selected, they may seek provisional admission into the programme on payment of the required fee and other charges as specified. After joining the programme, they will have to submit the provisional degree certificate and aggregate marks/OGPA latest by August 31, 2008 failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled. There will be no refund of fee paid by the students, in the event of the cancellation of their admission for the above or any other reasons or withdrawal by the student. All applicants are required to submit Xerox / attested copies of a complete set of documents as indicated in the application form, at the time of enrolment. They must produce the original documents for verification at the time of admission.

Reservation:
The reservation for SC, ST and Physically handicapped candidates is applicable as per the University rules, subject to meeting the other eligibility criteria for admission

GENERAL INFORMATION
1.For all courses, where MBBS/BDS is an eligible requirement, the candidate who have made more than one attempt (i.e. have more than one failure, compartment or reappear) during their MBBS / BDS career, are not eligible. For DM/M.Ch., courses, the candidates who have made mroe than one attempt in MBBS/MD/MS career are not eligible. However, those belonging to Sch. Caste/Tribes with upto two attempts in their MBBS/BDS career will be eligible for MD/MS, and MDS, House Job in Oral Health Sciences.

2.The candidates completing internship after 30.6.2008 are not eligible for course No. 1, 2 and 3.

3.The number of seats wherever indicated are provisional and may increase/decrease without any prior notice.

4.The course at Sr. No. 6 to 18 are only for Sponsored / Deputed Candidates.

5.A candidate applying for more than one subject/course except category – 1 & 2 is required to submit separate application complete in all respect for reach subject / course.

And from 2.30 PM to 3.30 PM on all working days except Saturdays (On Saturdays, forms will be available from 10.30 AM to 12.00 Noon) or by post for which the request must be accompanied with a self addressed thick envelope of size 24x15 cm bearing postage stamps of Rs. 30/- and Bank Draft preferable form any SBI branch payable at SBI Medical Institute Branch (Code No. 1524), Chandigarh for General Rs. 500/- and for SC/ST Rs. 400/- (indicating category i.e. General or SC/ST) drawn in faovur of the director, PGI, Chandigarh. However, prospectus of Rdm/m.Ch. will be available for Rs. 500/- only as there is no reservation for the same.

However, mid-career professionals, gradates (with a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the health care sector after graduation) are exempted form MAT and are eligible for direct admission through group discussion and interview.
