Applications are invited in the prescribed form for admission to B.Sc. Co-operation and Banking [B.Sc. (C&B)] course at the College of Co-operation, Banking and Management, Vellanikkara for the year 2008.
Eligibility for admission :
Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognized equivalent thereto with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. A pass in the qualifying examination is enough in the case of SC/ST candidates.
Application fees of Rs. 300/- for general category and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST category should be remitted as demand draft in favour of the Comptroller, KAU, Vellanikkara Thrissur payable at SBT, KAU Branch along with filled in application form. No other mode of payment will be accepted.

Note: Non-Graduates with 6 years Supervisory/ Managerial/ Professional experience* are eligible to apply for DIM only. The candidates who have completed 10+2 or its equivalent qualification will be treated as Non-Graduates.
*Experience means work experience during or after acquiring the qualification as specified. Work experience requirement of 3/6 years should be fulfilled as on 31st October, 2008 for January, 2009 and 30th April, 2009 for July, 2009 session.
There is no age bar for any of the Programmes.
FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students residing in India are eligible to seek admission in IGNOU programmes who have valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme. Such students are required to remit the fee at par with foreign students (fee structure of foreign students could be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in) . Admission of foreign students residing in India will be processed by the International Division of the University after ensuring their antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development. Programmes with fixed number of seats are not opened for foreign students.
Filled in form for Entrance Test 'OPENMAT-XXIV' must reach, the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068, by registered Post/ Speed Post on or before 15th July, 2008.
WALK IN ADMISSION
Candidates who qualify entrance test can submit the registration form, available in the Student Handbook & Prospectus to the respective Regional Centres alongwith the required fee latest by 30th November, 2008 alongwith Result Card, Identity Card and other relevant documents, for admission cycle starting from January, 2009 and by 31st May 2009 for admission cycle starting from July, 2009.
NOTE: Provision for on line registration for admission to the successful candidates will be made available on the university website (www.ignou.ac.in) after declaration of the entrance test result.

B.Sc. (NAUTICAL SCIENCE) – AUGUST 2008 SESSION
Indira Gandhi National Open University and the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Mumbai announce admissions in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme commencing on 1st August 2008. This programme of IGNOU has been developed in collaboration with the DGS and is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented education and training so as to help them become officers in the Merchant Navy.
The eligibility conditions are:
(A) Educational (1) 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate from a recognized Board OR with Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B. Sc with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc. from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college/ University recognized by AICTE/ UGC/ DEC. And (2) Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree course, conducted by a Board or University.
[Note: Those appearing in educational eligibility qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria on or before the commencement of the programme and produce the certificates to that effect.]
(B) Age (As on 1st August, 2008): Not more than 20 years in case of 10+2 pass, 22 years in case of B.Sc. Degree and 24 years in case of B.E./B.Tech. The age limit is relaxable by 2 years for female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
(C) Physical and Medical Standards: Medically fit as per the standards prescribed by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000, and Eye sight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and normal colour vision. [Note: The candidates are advised to get them medically examined so as to avoid any last minute embarrassment.]
Selection Procedure:
Candidates will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test (OPENNET) to be held on 15th June, 2008 (Sunday) 10AM – 1 PM. Reservation in number of seats shall be as prescribed by the Government of India. For further details please refer to the Student Handbook and Prospectus. As per the latest guidelines issued by the DG Shipping, Mumbai, it is now mandatory for all the candidates to qualify in OPENNET to seek admission in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme of IGNOU-DGS, irrespective of whether their candidature is sponsored by a Shipping Company/ Manning Agents or not.
Last Date of submission of Application: 27th May, 2008.
The Programme will be offered through selected Training Institutes approved by DGS and IGNOU. Details of these Institutes are available in the Students Handbook and Prospectus .
The Prospectus can be obtained from IGNOU headquarters, New Delhi on weekdays during working hours on payment of Rs.100/- in cash from 25th April, 2008 or downloaded from IGNOU website i.e. www.ignou.ac.in. The filled-in Application form (Form-A) along with the requisite fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.600/- in case of downloaded forms) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at Delhi should reach in an envelope super-scribed “Application form for B.Sc.
