Course Name: MTech Structural Engineering
Course Description: MTech (Structural Engineering) [Department: Applied Mechanics]

Eligibility: B.E. /B. Tech. in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Industrial/ Production/ Chemical Engineering or AMIE Certificate in any of the above branches of Engineering.



Admission under Stipendiary Seats: Candidates fulfilling eligibility as specified will be considered for admission to the respective programs under stipendiary seats. The candidates applying for admission under sponsored category shall not be considered for admission under stipendiary seats quota.



Admission Procedure: Admissions will be effected for all the programs, Except for VLSI design / Computer Science Engineering, according to merit list prepared on the basis of valid GATE score in the respective branches indicated under the column of Eligibility criterion in Table 1. For VLSI Design / Computer Science Engineering the merit list shall have weight age of 70% for GATE score and 30% weight age for written test/ Interview.



The seats remaining vacant if any after the completion of admissions of GATE qualified candidates (candidates with valid GATE Score), will be offered to Non-GATE Candidates (candidates without valid GATE Score), as per their merit based on the written test and interview.



Written Test / Interview: All the non-GATE candidates applying for M Tech programs will be required to appear for written test and interview.



Please note that the non-GATE candidates shall be offered admission on the vacant seats remaining if any, after admitting all GATE qualified candidates. Only those non-GATE candidates who qualify in the written test shall be interviewed. The list of such candidates shall be displayed by the respective departments.



Admission of Candidates under Sponsored Category: (1) Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria as specified in Table-I will be considered for admission to respective courses under sponsored category. (2) Under sponsored category the candidates having valid GATE Score shall be given preference over non-GATE candidates for admission (based on their merit), the percentile GATE score forming the basis of the merit list. (3) The candidates must have minimum 2 years of full time work experience in relevant field in which admission is being sought, after attaining the qualifying degree/certificate, in a registered firm/company/industry/ educational and/or research institute/any Government Department or Government Autonomous organization. (4) A letter from the employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to seek admission to the MTech program. The employer should also indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the course and the candidate will be fully under the administrative control of the Institute for the period of the course, and will be paid full salary by his/her employer for the duration of the course.

Important Points Related to MTech Admission: (1) Non-GATE candidates who are admitted to M Tech program shall not be eligible for stipend/scholarship. (2) Candidates with valid GATE Score admitted under quota of stipendiary seats (refer table 1) only are eligible for stipend as per rules of the institute. (3) GATE candidates desirous of seeking admission to M Tech program(s) under any of the categories (Except Programs offered by Deptt. Of Computer Science and Electronics) (refer Table 1) are not required to appear for entrance test/interview. (4) Non-Gate candidates desirous of seeking admission to M Tech programs under any of the categories (ref. Table 1) are required to appear for Written Test/Interviews. (5) In all categories the GATE candidates will get preference over Non-GATE candidates. If the result of the qualifying examination is awaited at the time of submitting the application form, the mark list of the pre-final year/semester examination along with final year exam appearance certificate issued by the Principal of college/institute must be enclosed along with the application form. Further the candidate is required to submit to the mark sheet of qualifying examination within the prescribed date which will be notified separately. (6) Hostel admission is not guaranteed and seats available if any after the completion of B Tech admission will be offered to M Tech admitted candidates.

Admission Procedure: Admissions will be effected for all the programs, Except for VLSI design / Computer Science Engineering, according to merit list prepared on the basis of valid GATE score in the respective branches indicated under the column of Eligibility criterion in Table 1. For VLSI Design / Computer Science Engineering the merit list shall have weight age of 70% for GATE score and 30% weight age for written test/ Interview.



The seats remaining vacant if any after the completion of admissions of GATE qualified candidates (candidates with valid GATE Score), will be offered to Non-GATE Candidates (candidates without valid GATE Score), as per their merit based on the written test and interview.



Written Test / Interview: All the non-GATE candidates applying for M Tech programs will be required to appear for written test and interview.



Please note that the non-GATE candidates shall be offered admission on the vacant seats remaining if any, after admitting all GATE qualified candidates. Only those non-GATE candidates who qualify in the written test shall be interviewed. The list of such candidates shall be displayed by the respective departments.



Admission of Candidates under Sponsored Category: (1) Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria as specified in Table-I will be considered for admission to respective courses under sponsored category. (2) Under sponsored category the candidates having valid GATE Score shall be given preference over non-GATE candidates for admission (based on their merit), the percentile GATE score forming the basis of the merit list. (3) The candidates must have minimum 2 years of full time work experience in relevant field in which admission is being sought, after attaining the qualifying degree/certificate, in a registered firm/company/industry/ educational and/or research institute/any Government Department or Government Autonomous organization. (4) A letter from the employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to seek admission to the MTech program. The employer should also indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the course and the candidate will be fully under the administrative control of the Institute for the period of the course, and will be paid full salary by his/her employer for the duration of the course.

University of Delhi Department of Physics and Astrophysics invites applications for M.Tech Nuclear Science and Technology.

Minimum Eligibility Conditions for M.Tech Nuclear Science and Technology


1. A candidate seeking admission to this course must qualify in the Joint Admission
Test to M.Sc. (JAM) Physics -2011 for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc.
programmes, conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The candidates who qualify in JAM (Physics) -2011 by obtaining a rank in the merit list of a Test Paper shall be eligible to apply for admission to this programm. Details of the JAM can be found from the IITs and are also available on the website http://www.iitr.ac.in/jam
Few seats are also available for meritorious candidates qualifying the admission test for M.Sc. Physics - 2011, conducted by the Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi. http://www.du.ac.in
2. Minimum educational qualification for the course is same as in JAM-2011: Bachelor's degree with Physics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year/two semesters.
3. All candidates shall be required to fulfill the following additional eligibility criteria for admission to this course:

(a) At least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade for General category candidates. Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility conditions will be allowed to candidates belonging to all reserved categories.
(b) Final selection will be made on the basis of an Interview of the short-listed candidates.


Age Requirements for M.Tech Nuclear Science and Technology


No Person shall be qualified for admission to the M.Tech course unless he/she is at least 20 years of age before the first of October in the year in which he/she seeks admission.
