Applications are invited for the TANCET 2008 to be conducted by Anna University Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th & 18th May 2008, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A., and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2008 – 2009 offered at University Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University, Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions. Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance tests but, admission is subject to the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority / University.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. MBA: A pass in any Degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern or a pass in any Degree with 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.
2. MCA: A pass in any degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern with Mathematics at + 2 level or Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or a pass in 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern with Mathematics at Diploma level or Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.

Registration of Application and Issue of Hall Ticket through Online:
Hall Ticket will be issued to the candidates who come in person to the following Co-ordinating Centres with cash or D.D. for the required amount towards Examination fee and a copy of 10th Std. Mark Sheet.

Issue of Application Form:

The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC / ST Candidates on production of a copy of Community Certificate) for getting an application form which will be the Examination Fee for any one of the Programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.

If the candidate desires to attend more than one Entrance Test, for every additional programme, he / she has to enclose an additional DD for Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC / ST Candidates) along with the filled in application form.

(1) IN PERSON: Application forms can be had IN PERSON on payment of Rs.300/- by cash or D.D. (Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC / ST Candidates on production of a copy of Community Certificate) from the Co-ordinating Centres listed above and at the selected branches of the State Bank of India* as given below:
(2) BY POST: By sending a Demand Draft for Rs.350/- (Rs.200/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST Candidates with a copy of Community Certificate) along with a self-addressed slip and a requisition letter to the Secretary, TANCET, Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai 600 025.
(3) BY INTERNET REGISTRATION: The Candidates can also register through internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tancet2008. After entering the required information in the application form, press the submit button, then take a printout, affix a photograph and affix the signature at the appropriate spaces provided. The printout application form along with the examination fee in the form of a D.D only (Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates have to enclose a copy of the community certificate also) should be sent by speed/registered post to the address given below. ELIGIBILITY:
B.Tech/BE/B.Arch/B.Pharm/M.Sc or equivalent degree with a valid GATE score. Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Govt. of India rules. Reservations for OBC candidates should be implemented as and when government orders for the same are issued.

SELELCTION:
Except for sponsored candidates, selection is strictly based on GATE score. However, applicants with professional qualifications, those with XE/XL paper in GATE, and sponsored candidates who are short-listed need to qualify through an interview and/or a test.

ASSISTANCESHIP:
Rs.5000/- per month for candidates selected through GATE.

APPLICATION FEE: The application fee is Rs.300/- (Rs.150 for SC/ST Candidates).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application for M.Tech/MCP programmes is to be submitted only by an ONLINE process (internet based) by accessing the website: http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mtech from 27th March, 2008 to 27th April 2008. The candidate should first pay the Application Fee by obtaining a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE application form. Candidates are required to take a print of the ONLINE application form after successful submission of data. The printed form, with candidate’s signature and photograph pasted at appropriate place, and the Demand Draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach by 30 April 2008 to The Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur – 721302.

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2008 on 17th August, 2008 for Admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 122nd Course and Naval Academy for 42nd 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course commencing from 30th June, 2009.

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding the Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centre of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated 15th March, 2008.

2. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:
(a) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:
Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1990 and not later than 1st January, 1993 are eligible.
(b) Educational Qualifications:
(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:- 12th Class pass of 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for 10+2 (Executive Brach) Course of Naval Academy:- 12th Class of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this Examination.
(c) Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2008 as given in Appendix –V of Commission’s Notice for the Examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated 15th March, 2008.

3. APPLICATION FORM
The Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examination which an be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only one and only for one examination.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 22nd April, 2008.
