. DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME:
The duration of the Programme is 3 1/2 Academic years comprising 7 semesters.

. CLASS HOURS:
Classes will be held from 6.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. on all working days and also possibly during day time on Sundays. In addition, classes may also be held on other holidays at the discretion of the faculty concerned.
Candidates seeking admission should satisfy the admission authorities that they will be in a position to attend the classes in the evenings and also on holidays and fulfill the requirements regarding attendance as laid down by the University from time to time.

. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
* Qualification: Candidates should have passed the Diploma examination in Engineering/Technology in the relevant branch of specialization conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination recognized by Anna University.
* Year of Qualifying for Diploma: Candidates who have passed the diploma examination in the relevant branch of specialization at least two years before the last date prescribed for submission of applicati on.
* Place of work: Candidates should be working in a place within a distance of 90 km from the University so as to enable him/her to attend the classes regularly by 6.15 pm and the place of working should be in Tamil Nadu.

Selection Procedure:
The merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 100 (marks obtained in the qualifying marks will be reduced to 75 marks and marks for work experience will be a maximum of 25 marks). In cases where more than one candidates got the same mark in the common merit list, inter-se merit among such candidate shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below:
1. Total years of experience.
2. Marks obtained in the Qualifying Diploma Examination (Pre and final semesters.)

ONLINE TEST AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE
1. Online tests will be conducted in specified online test centres at specified dates and timings.
2. Online test centres will operate only if sufficient number of candidates opt for that centre.
3. As far as possible we will try to accommodate you’re the preferences. However the allotment of Date and Centre for Online Test is vested with the Centre for Distance Education, Anna University Chennai and is final.
4. The results of the Online entrance test will be announced on the same day as the test.
5. Candidates are required to bring Original Certificates (SSLC,HSC, Diploma and Degree Certificate along with one set of Xerox copies when they come for Online Entrance Test for scrutiny and provisional selection.
6. The relevant Xerox copies of certificates of selected candidates will be scrutinized by the Centre for Distance Education and the lit of eligible and provisionally admitted candidates will be announced on the web by the Centre for Distance Education.
7. The actual admission process and payment of fees will be take place at the online test centers subsequently.
8. However the candidates can come directly to the Centre for Distance Education for admission and fee remittance.

Applications are invited for the TANCET 2008 to be conducted by Anna University Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th & 18th May 2008, from candidates who seek admission to 1. Degree Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2008 – 2009 offered at University Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University, Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions. Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance tests but, admission is subject to the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority / University.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. MBA: A pass in any Degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern or a pass in any Degree with 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.
2. MCA: A pass in any degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern with Mathematics at + 2 level or Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or a pass in 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern with Mathematics at Diploma level or Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.

Applications are invited for the University Grants Commission (UGC) Research Fellowships in Science for Meritorious Students. Limited number of fellowships are available in (1) Chemical Engineering (2) Environmental Science (3) Civil Engineering and (4) Electrical Engineering.
