Nordam Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship 2010

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and The NORDAM Group annually award $2,500 to an undergraduate who is officially enrolled as an aerospace engineering or aeronautical systems maintenance engineering major at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

The NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship was created by NBAA and The NORDAM Group to honor the lifetime achievements of two aerospace engineering pioneers, Dee Howard and Etienne Fage. NORDAM has been a world leader in aircraft component manufacturing and repair since 1969.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship, the applicant must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. A completed and signed application form must be accompanied by an essay, official transcript, resume and letter of recommendation.
Awards: Awards will be made to U.S. citizens without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. This scholarship will be presented at the NBAA 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention in October 2010. It will be redeemable under the conditions established by NBAA and The NORDAM Group, and checks will be made payable to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. The scholarship recipient must use all scholarship funds within 24 calendar months of the announcement of the award or risk forfeit of the award.

Welingkar Institute of Management is an autonomous institute and all distance learning programs offered by it are autonomous in nature, but it is one of the few institutions whose distance learning programs have been accredited by Distance Education Council (DEC), a body of the Central Govt. of India.

Distance Education Council (DEC) has been set up by the Govt. of India under the IGNOU Act for assessment and accreditation of distance education institutes in India. An approved institute and its programs are stringently appraised by DEC with regard to its content, quality of education and its delivery systems.

A Joint Committe of Nominees from AICTE, UGC, IGNOU and DEC does thorough inspection before recognition of the programe. Duration: This is 2 years, PG Diploma program offered in the distance learning mode. The curriculum is at par with the Distance Learning MBA offered by leading Universities. The two year program is divided into 4 semesters. The registration validity of these 2 year PG programs is 3 years. The registration validity is subject to payment of full program fees as per the payment schedule. While the program duration is of 2 years only, the additional one year is given to students to submit/clear all pending exams/project report. Incase, a student is not able to complete the program within 3 years, he is required to pay Rs.7500/- Re-Registration Fees for getting one more year extention to clear the balance subject(s) or to submit the project.

Salient features of the program: The first two semesters are generic, common to all and cover general topics of management. The last two semesters contain specialization related subjects.

* Diploma holders from any recognized polytechnic with 3 years of supervisory work experience post diploma.
* Final year degree student. However, their admission will be confirmed only on submission of the attested Xerox copies of their degree certificates/final year mark sheets within 60 days of admission.
* If a student has completed his graduation from an international university, then the University should be approved by AIU/UGC/IGNOU or by any other international associations like EQUIS, AACSB OR AMBA.

Sr. Management Program Admission 2010

This one-year Program, currently in its seventh batch, has been designed specifically to equip senior executives with quantitative tools and qualitative perspective so that they can make strategic decisions. This Program will enable participants, which consist of working professional with at least 10 years of work experience, to broaden their business perspective, develop tools and techniques required for managing organizations and very importantly, transform them into strategic leaders in their organizations. The Program has a strong strategic bias.

The Program is divided into two modules—the Introductory Module and the Advanced Module. The Introductory Module focuses on the essentials of functional skills of management. The Annemarie Schimmel Scholarship 2010 – Lahore



The Scholarship was established in honour of Professor Annemarie Schimmel to commemorate her great contribution to culture and poetry in Pakistan and her role as a dedicated woman scholar. It offers the opportunity to do post-graduate study in the United Kingdom to a woman who is committed to make a genuine contribution to her chosen field on her return to Pakistan.

Eligibility: The Schimmel scholars will be chosen for their ability and commitment without discrimination as to religion, caste or creed. Candidates must have either a professional degree or they should have completed sixteen years of education in a relevant discipline. They must be citizens of Pakistan and have a declared intention to return and pursue a career in Pakistan. Those having a minimum two year professional work experience will be given preference. There is no restriction on age, but preference will be given to candidates between the ages of 25 and 40. A genuine need for financial assistance is an essential condition of the scholarship.
The candidates must supply adequate evidence that they would not be able to study abroad without financial assistance. Candidates must bear the expenses of air travel. While not a requirement, preference will be given to those candidates who have secured admission to a programme of study at a recognized institution of their choice in the United Kingdom. In the absence of a sufficiently qualified candidate the scholarship committee reserves the right to make no nomination. Candidates must have cleared their IELTS exam before appearing for the final interview held in November/December of the current year.

Uniqueness of the Scholarship: The Scholarship has a reputation for absolute fairness and is extremely generous. It allows candidates to choose from the best and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in Britain. It covers the full cost of tuition and basic living expenses. The selection is based completely on merit but a major consideration is given to the need and relevance of the particular degree for Pakistan and the commitment of the scholar to return and serve in Pakistan.

Field of Study: Selection will not be restricted to any subject. Preference will be given to traditional humanities or sciences and also to humanitarian fields, such as public health, special education and ancillary medical fields, for example, physiotherapy and radiography. Studies in economic development, social sciences and modular courses in various disciplines will also be considered. Subjects excluded are journalism, business, management, IT, media, and gender/women’s studies. Candidates wishing to pursue higher learning in areas related to Annemarie Schimmel’s scholarship on Islam are encouraged to apply.The course of study can be purely academic or could involve practical training. Prospective candidates are strongly urged to acquire basic computer literacy and word processing skills.

Duration: The scholarship is awarded for one academic year (session starting Sept/Oct. 2011) for a Master’s degree at recognized institutions of higher education in the UK. Doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Application Procedure: Applications are invited up to 7th June 2010, accompanied by ALL required documents. They must be submitted once and not in parts. Incomplete and late applications will not be entertained. An initial short-listing will be done according to the eligibility criteria mentioned.

Written Test: A written test will be held for the short-listed candidates in September 2010. The test will be conducted simultaneously in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The candidates will be able to select their centre of choice in advance. The test is general in nature, aiming to check the candidate’s aptitude and proficiency in English. It is not subject based and does not require any specific preparation.

Interview: Between five to ten candidates are selected for the final interview with the AMSS committee. The interview will be held in October/November 2010, at Lahore. The candidates are expected to bear their own travel expenses.
