Application forms can be had in person at the Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai -25 from 29.10.2008 on payment of Rs.500/- for General categories Rs.250/- in case of SC/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu (on production of copy of Community Certificate) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Director (Admissions), Anna University Chennai” payable at Chennai.

Eligibility for Admission

. COURSES OF STUDY:
The following branches of study leading to the B.E / B.Tech. Degrees of Anna University Chennai are offered on part-time basis as an Evening Programme (Self-Supporting) in the University Departments of Anna University Chennai.
. B.E. Civil Engineering
. B.E. Mechanical Engineering *
. B.E. Manufacturing Engineering
. B.E. Industrial Engineering
. B.E. Production Engineering +
. B.E. Automobile Engineering +
. B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
. B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering *
* B.E. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering +
. B.E. Computer Science & Engineering *
. B.Tech. Information Technology *
. B.Tech. Chemical Engineering
. B.Tech. Textile Technology
. B.Tech. Leather Technology
. B.E. Printing Technology
These programmes are offered at both MIT and Main Campus of the University
+ These programmes are offered only at the MIT Campus of the University

All other programmes are offered only at the Main Campus of the University.


. DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME:
The duration of the Programme is 3 1/2 Academic years comprising 7 semesters.

. CLASS HOURS:
Classes will be held from 6.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. on all working days and also possibly during day time on Sundays. In addition, classes may also be held on other holidays at the discretion of the faculty concerned.
Candidates seeking admission should satisfy the admission authorities that they will be in a position to attend the classes in the evenings and also on holidays and fulfill the requirements regarding attendance as laid down by the University from time to time.

. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
* Qualification: Candidates should have passed the Diploma examination in Engineering/Technology in the relevant branch of specialization conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination recognized by Anna University.
* Year of Qualifying for Diploma: Candidates who have passed the diploma examination in the relevant branch of specialization at least two years before the last date prescribed for submission of applicati on.
* Place of work: Candidates should be working in a place within a distance of 90 km from the University so as to enable him/her to attend the classes regularly by 6.15 pm and the place of working should be in Tamil Nadu.

Selection Procedure:
The merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 100 (marks obtained in the qualifying marks will be reduced to 75 marks and marks for work experience will be a maximum of 25 marks). In cases where more than one candidates got the same mark in the common merit list, inter-se merit among such candidate shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below:
1. Total years of experience.
2. Marks obtained in the Qualifying Diploma Examination (Pre and final semesters.)
3. Date of Birth (Senior will be placed above).



LAST DATE:
Completed application along with enclosures should be handed over in person to the Director (Admissions), Anna University Chennai, Chennai – 600 025 on or before 12 -11-2008 (5.30 p.m)
