Calcutta University M.Phil Admission Notification 2011-12

Calcutta University invites applications for two years M.PHIL. COURSE in
BENGALI,
ENGLISH,
SANSKRIT,
PALI,
HINDI,

COMMERCE,
PHILOSOPHY,
HISTORY,
ANCIENT INDIAN HISTORY AND CULTURE,
URDU,
SOUTH AND SOUTH EAST ASIAN STUDIES,
EDUCATION,
SOCIOLOGY and
LIBRARY & INFORMATION SCIENCE (self financed)
for the session 2010-12.

ELIGIBILITY: Any candidate who has passed the M.A,/M.SC./M.COM. or equivalent Examination of this University with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST with 50% marks) or with 60% marks in aggregate of any other recognized University. Students who are taking M.A. Part-II examination in the above mentioned subjects may also apply provisionally and sit for the admission test but their final admission would depend on passing the examination obtaining the required marks mentioned above.

Form: Application forms would be available at C.U. Sales Counter (College Street Campus) from 10:30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on all working days on payment of Rs. 465/- for form plus Rs. 35/- for a copy of a Brochure, from 25-10-2010 to 08-11-2010.

Submission of Forms: Completed application forms except forms for Education, Sociology and Library and Information Science will be received by the Office of the Sr. Secretary, U.C.A.C., College Street Campus, Asutosh Building, Ground Floor, Room No. 3G between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on all working days from 25.10.10 to 08.11.10. Forms for Education and Sociology are to be submitted to the concerned departments at the Alipore Campus, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-700 027. Forms for Library and Information Science are to be submitted in the concerned department at Asutosh Building, 3rd floor.

Reservation: Reservation for SC, ST and Physically Handicapped will be made as per University/Government rules.

Course Fees: Rupees Four Thousand in cash are to be paid by the selected candidates at the time of admission except Library and Information Science.

South and South-East Asian Studies: For South and South-East Asian Studies, students of Social science be admitted in M.Phil. programme in South and Southeast Asian Studies, but special weightage will be given to those who have done their M.A in South & South-East Asian Studies.

Ancient Indian History and Culture: Students with Master Degree in Ancient Indian History and Culture, Islamic History and Culture, Archaeology, Museology and History are eligible to apply.

N.B.: The University shall not be responsible for any intimation to the applicant in respect of written test, interview/ viva-voce and even for selection and admission.
