A competitive written examination on all India basis for admission to the Ph.D. degree programme in different constituent Colleges of Central Agricultural University, Imphal will be held on 26th August. 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the College of Post Graduate Studies, Barapani, Meghalaya. However, preference will be given to candidates belonging to six North Eastern States falling under the jurisdiction of the * University; namely - Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Tripura. Eligibility:
The candidates for admission to Ph.D. programmes must have Master's Degree in the concerned subject/discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or an OGPA of 7.00/10.00 or 3.75/5.00 or 3.00/4.00 for General/OBC candidates and of 55% marks or an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 or 3.5/5.00 or 2.80/4.00 for SC/ST/PH candidates.
A good knowledge of English language. 

How to apply:
1. The prescribed Application Format (Appendix -1) given below may be duly filled up and submitted to the Registrar, Central Agricultural University, Imphal - 795004 (Manipur) along with a Demand Draft of ?500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) only drawn in favour of Comptroller, CAU, Imphal payable at State Bank of India (Main Branch) Imphal.
2. The candidates should also fill up the Admit Card in the given format (Appendix - II).
3. The last date of receipt of Application Form duly filled in either by post or in person at Registrar office is 22nd August, 2012 upto 5:00 p.m.
Date of Registration/Admission and Commencement of session is 3rd September, 2012.

Candidates from Govt. Departments/SAUs and other Organizations are required to submit his/her application through the concerned Head of the Institution/Department/ Organization, failing which the candidature will not be considered.

General Note:
The candidate who have appeared in the Master's degree examination in the year 2012 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission but they will have to submit documentary proof of their successful completion of qualifying degree examination on the date of registration.
The Admit Card for appearing in the Entrance Examination shall be sent to the concerned candidates by e-Mail only. Hence, e-mail address is mandatory.
Reservation: 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 3% seats will be reserved for SC, ST, OBC and PH as per the guidelines of Govt, of India. The reservation between SC and ST is interchangeable i.e. if sufficient numbers of candidates are not available to fill up the seats reserved for SC candidates, seat(s) can be filled up from among suitable ST candidate and vice-versa. However, vacant seats for OBC category are not interchangeable with any other categories.
The candidates seeking admission for Ph.D. programmes at this University as sponsored candidates should be on deputation terms/study leave.

Admission to M.F.Sc course in Seafood Safety and Trade in
Cochin University of Science and Technology

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) have announced its new M.F.Sc programme in Seafood Safety and Trade. The course is   sanctioned recently by the University Grants Commission, under its Innovative Programme – Technology and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas. The course will commence from September 2012.

            The two year (4 semester) programme is interdisciplinary in nature and is designed to mould professionals of the topmost order capable of tackling the challenges faced by the flourishing seafood industry.   The course aims at developing manpower specialized in managerial skills demanded by the trade and seafood industry and to extend state of the art research opportunities in emerging vistas related to seafood trade, sea food quality assurance and international trade.

The postgraduates in Seafood Safety and Trade can take up entry level positions in Seafood production, Sales, Marketing, Quality assurance, Food safety, Total quality management, Import/Export, etc. In addition to the permanent faculty of Cochin University of Science and Technology, the National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHTT), Cochin, Ministry of Agriculture and various seafood processing and exporting factories under the aegis of Seafood Exporters Association will collaborate with the programme, especially in the practical training & project work of the students.

            The eligibility for admission to the course is a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries/ Food Technology/ Food Science/ Food Microbiology/ Food Biochemistry/ Zoology with at least 55% marks in optional subjects. Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Fishery Science/Industrial Fish & Fisheries/B.F.Sc (Nautical Science). Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology/Food Science includes B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc.in Food Science and Technology/ Food Science and Management/Food Science/Food Technology/Food Processing Technology/Food Science and Quality Control.

            Admission will be based on a written test to be conducted by the University in Cochin on  2nd September 2012.  The venue and time of the test will be notified in the Hall Ticket.  All candidates should apply online and the online application form is available on the web site http://indfish.cusat.ac.in.

After applying online, a self-attested copy of the confirmation page should be forwarded to the Director, School of Industrial Fisheries, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Fine Arts Avenue, Cochin 682 016 along with the application fee of Rs.950/-(Rs.425/- for SC/ST candidates) by way of Demand Draft drawn from any nationalized bank in favour of The Registrar, CUSAT payable at Ernakulam. The last date for submitting application is 16th August 2012. All short listed candidates should download their hall ticket from the above website.  Admission test for the course will be held on 2nd September 2012 in Kochi only and the results will be published in the website within one day.

CAT score is used for short-listing candidates who apply for admission to NIBM. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the Programme.
