The Government of India has established Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) in 2006. Three of these institutes are functioning in Kolkata, Pune and Mohali and two more will start functioning from this year at Bhopal and Thiruvananthapuram. IISERs are a unique initiative in science education in India where teaching and education will be totally integrated with state-of-the-art research nurturing both curiosity and creativity in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. The IISERs aim to become science institutes of the highest international caliber.

Each IISER is an autonomous institution conducting their own Masters and Doctoral programmes. Students are encouraged to work on research projects during the vacation periods in the first four years of their Masters programme in various research institutes outside IISER.

National Institute for Plant Genome Research, is an Autonomous Research Institution, funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and conducts basic and applied research in the frontier areas of plant biology. The Institute invites applications from candidates who have completed or will be completing M. Sc. (by August 11, 2008) in Life Science or equivalent in related disciplines with minimum 55% marks, and have cleared the CSIR-UGC NET exam / DBT-JRF (selected through BET) / ICMR NET exam for JRF (with a valid Junior Research Fellowship as on September 1, 2008), for conducting advanced researches in the frontier areas of Plant Science such as Developmental Biology, Signal Transduction, Stress Biology, Structural, Functional and Nutritional Genomics, Developing Transgenic Crop Plants etc. Reservations are as per Govt. of India norms. The selection will be made on the basis of interview only.

The selected candidates will be enrolled for Ph.D. program in academic affiliation with the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. NIPGR will provide shared accommodation to selected candidates.

Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
i) Application should be typed on A-4 size plain paper in the format given
ii) Item 3 and 6 in the format should be filled in as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
iii) Each page in the typed application form should be signed by the candidate.
iv) Completed application must be accompanied with a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 300/- in favor of Director, National Institute for Plant Genome Research, New Delhi. A demand draft of Rs. 100/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidate provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The Demand Draft is not refundable.
v) Application should be accompanied by attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained.
vi) Two passport size recent photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form, while the other should be enclosed.

National Law School of Delhi, established in 2008 by Act 1 of 2008 of National Capital Territory of Delhi is another premier Law University Joining the band of premier Law Universities established in India. Vision of the University is to create a premier Global Legal Institute which would complete with the best within and outside India, with a View to imparting knowledge of various aspects of law to the youngsters and introduce them to a wide range of opportunities in legal profession across the globe. The University invites applications for a Five Year Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree programme for the academic year 2008-2009 commencing from August, 2008.

ELIGIBILITY:
Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) System or equivalent Examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate (those who have appeared in the examination in March/April, 2008 can also apply)

AGE LIMIT: Below 21 years as on 1st July, 2008 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates)

TOTAL SEATS: 80 (eighty) [70 seats on merit through All India Entrance Examination and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]

RESERVATION: 15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 3% for Persons with Disabilities.

FEE STRUCTURE:
Tuition Fee Rs.35000/- (tentative) per semester. Academic Support Service Fee and other fees, Hostel and Mess charges will be extra. Hostel residence is compulsory.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
The University provides liberal scholarships/ fee waivers for the needy and deserving students admitted to the course.

Admission will be strictly on merit through All India Entrance Examination to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna on Sunday, the 1st June, 2008 from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
