1. Application forms for the above courses will be available from 27-01-2008 to 6-2-2008 (up to 3 pm) from the Deans for the following Government Medical/Dental Colleges on a written request in person or by post with a crossed DD for Rs.1250/- (Rupees One Thousand and two hundred and fifty only) drawn in favour of The Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai-600010 and DATED NOT EARLIER THAN 20-1-2008 from any Branch of a NATIONALISED BANK, payable at CHENNAI. SC/ST Candidates are exempted from payment of fees for the application form and they should produce attested Xerox copy of the community certificate while collecting the application form.

2. Requisition by Post should be addressed to the Deans/Principal of the Government Medical/Dental Colleges only, duly enclosing Postal Stamps to the value of Rs.60/- SEPARATELY FOR POSTAL CHARGES, besides a crossed DD for Rs.1250/- towards Application Form Fee drawn in favour of The Secretary Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chenai-600010 payable at Chennai by DD dated not earlier than 20-01-2008. SC/ST candidates should enclose the attested Xerox copy of the community certificate and Postal Stamps to the value of Rs.60/- (Rupees Sixty only) towards the cost of postages along with their request for free application. No application will be available for sale at Selection Committee.
3. a) The candidates should be a citizen of India and should have undergone MBBS/BDS courses in the State of Tamil Nadu. b) Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity who have completed MBBS/BDS in other States should furnish a Certificate of Nativity in Tamilnadu issued by a Competent authority in the Format annexed to the Application Form.

4. Service candidates who have not completed three years of continuous service as on 31-03-208 are not eligible to apply.

5. Candidates who had joined Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma / 5 Years M.Ch. (Neuro Surgery)/ MDS Courses in any discipline and discontinued the courses on any grounds after the cut off date fixed by the Medical Council of India are eligible to apply only after a period of 2 years form the date of discontinuance of the course.

6. a) Candidates above 50 years as on 31-03-2008 are not eligible to apply. b) Candidates (Private/Service) who have completed / possess a Postgraduate Degree are not eligible to apply for admission to any other Post Graduate Degree or Diploma Courses. c) Candidates (Private/Service) who are a Diploma holder are not eligible to apply for another Diploma course but can apply for any Post Graduate Degree Course.

7. DBS GRADUATES SHOULD APPLY ONLY IN THE SPECIFIED APPLICATION FORM FOR MDS COURSES.

8. Detailed information regarding Eligibility, Entrance Examination, Mode of Selection, Courses and Colleges are available in the Prospectus to the issued along with the Application and also on the website: http://www.tnhealth.org.

9. Candidates who have graduated fro other Universities have to produce the Eligibility Certificate form the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai at the time of Counselling, failing which they will not be considered for selection.

10. The completed application form along with enclosures should reach the Secretary, Selection Committee, No.162, Periyar E.V.R. High Road, Kilpauk, Chennai-600010 on or before 06-02-2008 by 5.00 PM.

11. Application form can also be downloaded from the website http://www.tnhealth.org/. Such candidates have to enclose a DD dated not earlier than 20-1-2008 for Rs.1250/- drawn in favour of The Secretary Selection Committee, Chennai-10 while submitting the application. The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in Engineering & Technology for the year 2007-08 from the persons who have a Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy with at least 55 % marks from a recognized University .22.5 % Research Fellowships are reserved for SC/ST candidates, The objective of this award is to provide an opportunity to research scholars to undertake advanced study and research in Engineering and Technology and Agricultural Engineering leading to Ph.D. Subjects like Geology, Geo-Physics and Mathematics are not considered under this scheme. This Foundation has announced the fourteenth (14th) annual Programme of research grants and educational scholarships starting on October 19; 2008, which is addressed to non Greeks, full Members of National Academies, University Professors of all levels (Ph.D. holders), postdoctoral researchers (Ph.D. holders), artists, elementary and secondary school teachers of the Greek language as a foreign one, post-graduate students and Ph.D. candidates.

FIELDS/SECTIONS OF RESEARCH OR STUDY
The Programme covers the following fields only:
> Humanities: Philology, Literature, Linguistics, Theology, History, Archaeology, Philosophy,
Educational Studies, Psychology
> Political science : Sociology, International Relations

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The grants and scholarships offered within the framework of this Programme cover scholarly research, posteducational training in the teaching of the Greek language and culture and/or artistic creation in Greece only and in the fields stated in the above paragraph only.

In principle, only persons of non Greek descent are eligible to participate in the Programme. As an exception to this rule, Cypriot citizens are also eligible to apply for category Al and All grants only, provided they are permanently residing and working outside Greece. Additionally, as a second exception to the general rule, persons of Greek descent (second generation and on are also eligible to apply for a grant or scholarship, provided they are permanently residing and working abroad or currently studying in foreign Universities. More specifically, Categories AI and All also apply to Scholars of Greek descent or citizenship provided they have a professional academic career of at least ten (10) years in a University or Research Institute abroad. Also eligible for the Programme are Teachers of the Greek Language of Greek descent or citizenship, who work at elementary or secondary schools outside of Greece and post-graduate students of Greek descent or citizenship, who pursue post-graduate studies outside of Greece (categories B and C), have obtained a degree outside of Greece and are permanently residing outside of Greece for more than fifteen (15) years.
The decision to authorise each application for a grant or scholarship is left to the absolute discretion of the Board of Directors of the Foundation . The Board takes into account the recommendations of the Foundation 's Scientific Committee, which is selected by the Board, but is not bound by these recommendations . Furthermore, the Board of Directors can grant or not an application without communicating the rationale. All meetings of the Board and all recommendations of the Committee are confidential and under no circumstances will they be communicated to the applicants. The submission of an application equals acceptance of all the conditions of the Announcement.

The Banaras Hindu University will hold All India COMPETITIVE WRITTEN TEST for admission to MBBS course (55 seats) in TWO stages: PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING and PMT-2008 MAIN, and to B. Pharm. course (25 seats) in ONE stage: PMT/PAT-2008 Screening. PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING shall be held on Wednesday, the 7th May 2008 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres, to screen candidates for eligibility to take PMT-2008 MAIN examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 15th June 2008 at Varanasi Centre only. For B. Pharm. course, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING.
ELIGIBILITY : QUALIFICATIONS - Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size MUST also accompany it. The ENVELOP containing requisition for PMT/PAT application form should be super scribed “Request for Application for PMT/PAT-2008, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT/PAT form by post is Wednesday, the 20th February 2008. Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted. 5. 2 Year Master of Science (M.S.) in Quantitative Economics: 3 years Bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Mathematics/Statistics/Physics or a B.Stat. degree from the Indian Statistical Institute, Engineering graduates are also eligible. 8. 2 Year M.Tech in Qualify, Reliability and Operations Research: (i) Masters degree in Statistics or Master’s degree in Mathematics with Probability and Statistics as major subjects or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or PG diploma in SQC & OR from the Indian Statistical Institute and (ii) Knowledge of Mathematics at graduate level and knowledge of Physics and Chemistry at Higher Secondary level. Stipend Rs.5000/- per month. (Offered in Kolkata).

9. Junior Research Fellowships:
(a) Statistics: (i) A good academic record with M.Stat. M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics or, (ii) Outstanding mathematical maturity with B.Stat./B.Math., B.A./B.Sc. or equivalent degree with Statistics as the main Subject.

(b) Mathematics: (i) A good academic record with M.Stat. M.Math., M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics or (ii) Outstanding Mathematical maturity with B.Stat./B.Math., B.A./B.Sc. or equivalent degree with Mathematics as the main Subject.

(c) Quantitative Economics: (i) A good academic record with M.S. (QE), M.Stat., M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/Econometrics or, (ii) Outstanding Mathematical maturity with B.A./B.Sc. degree with Economics as the main Subject. A Candidate possessing a Master’s degree in any subject with Mathematics/Statistics at B.A. / B.Sc. (Pass) level is also eligible.

(d) Computer Science: A good academic record with M.E./M.Tech or equivalent degree in Electronics/ Telecommunication/Radio Physics/ Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/Microwave Communications/ Information Technology or a good academic record with M.Sc/M.C.A./M.A. or equivalent degree in Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Electronic Sciences/ Computer Science/Atmospheric Science/Information Technology with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. Outstanding candidates having B.E./B.Tech./ Equivalent degree in the above subjects will also be eligible.

(e) Biological Anthropology: A good academic record with M.Sc. in Anthropology (Specialization in Physical / Biological Anthropology).

(f) Physics and Applied Mathematics: A good academic record with M.Sc. in Physics/Mathematics Statistics.

(g) Agriculture & Ecology: A good academic record with M.Sc. in Environmental Science/ Botany (Specialization in Ecology/Plant Physiology)

(h) Sociology: A Good academic record with M.A/ M.Sc. Sociology or equivalent degree in Sociology/Anthropology Economics/History or any other subject in Social Sciences.

(i) Geology: A good academic record with M.Sc Geology/ Applied Geology or equivalent or, M.Sc. in Chemistry (Specialization in Physical Chemistry).

(j) Human Genetics: A good academic record with M.Stat/M.Sc. in Statistics. Candidate has to take the JRF (Statistics) selection tests.

(k) Psychology: A good academic record with M.A./M.Sc in Psychology/ Applied Psychology.

(l) Demography: A good academic record with Master’s degree in Statistics/Demography/Economics/ Population Science/Population Studies/ Applied Mathematics.

(m) Library and Information Science: A good academic record with Associateship in Documentation and Information Science of the Indian Statistical Institute or INSDOC or Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with at least 55% marks in undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes.

Fellowship of 9(a) to 9 (m): (i) Applicants with M.E./ M.Tech. or equivalent: Rs. 9000/- per month and (ii) Others: Rs.8000/- per months. A Special Fellowship of Rs. 12000/- pm. Is also available for outstanding candidates in each of the subjects: (i) Statistics (ii) Mathematics (iii) Computer Science, and (iv) Quantitative Economics. Fellowships are like to be revise.

Remaining JRF programmes are offered only in Kokata. Selection of candidates is based on academic record, written tests and intervies conducted by the Institue. Due consideration is given to SC/ST/Physically Challenged candidates for all courses (excluding fellowship programmes).
