Admissions for the academic session 2008-09 to the following Postgraduate (PG) Programmes leading to M.Tech./M. Arch./ MURP will be made on the basis of either GATE score only or GATE score and Interview/Written Test . For Sponsored candidates the admission will be made on the basis of Interview/Written Test and relevant experience. NOTE : The Minimum Duration for all Programmes will be 4 Semesters forFull Time and 6 Semesters for Part Time candidates.

APPLICATION FORM AND INFORMATION BROCHURE
Application Form can be obtained as follows:-
(a) Download Application Form and Information Brochure : The Application Form along with the Information Brochure can be downloaded from Institute website: http://www.iitr.ernet.in from March 17, 2008 to April 17, 2008.
(b) Obtain Application Form by making written request : The Application Form along with the Information Brochure can be obtained from the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, ROORKEE-247 667 by sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 50/- drawn in favour of “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee” payable at Roorkee, along with two self addressed slips which should reach latest by April 07, 2008.
(c) On-Line Application Form : The facility of ON-LINE Application shall also be available through the website: http://www.iitr.ernet.in

SUBMISSION OF FILLED APPLICATION FORM
The filled Application Form (Downloaded or Obtained by written request or Printout of the On-Line Application Form as case may be) and fee through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee” payable at Roorkee, as given below be sent to the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, ROORKEE-247667”.
For General Category: Rs. 400/-
For SC/ST Category: Rs. 200/- + Rs. 100/- per additional department (if applied)

IMPORTANT NOTE
A candidate may apply maximum for four Departments and 14 different programmes but ONLY ONE Application Form is to be filled-up. However, fee of Rs. 100/- per additional Department shall be payable by the candidate.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A minimum aggregate score of 60% or 6.00 CGPA on 10 point scale for General candidates and 55% or 5.50 CGPA on 10 point scale for SC/ST candidates at the qualifying examination is essential for all the above programmes.

ADMISSION CRITERIA
Admission will be made on the basis of either GATE score only or GATE score and Interview/Written Test. For Sponsored candidates the admission will be on the basis of Interview/Written Test and relevant experience. There will be cut offs for calling the candidates for Interview/Written Test and/or for preparing merit list for different programmes for different categories of candidates. The normalized GATE score of different papers will be used to prepare the merit list. The normalized GATE score be calculated as follows:-

Normalized GATE score = Actual GATE score x 100/Maximum GATE score in the Paper awarded in that year.

B.Tech. degree holders from IITs with minimum CGPA of 8.00 on 10 point scale will also be eligible for admission with MHRD assistantship without GATE score upto 10% of the Intake.

RESERVATION OF SEATS
Certain number of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories and Person with Disabilities (PD) as per the Govt. of India rules. For details refer to the Information Brochure.

FINAL YEAR CANDIDATES
Candidates appearing for the final year of their qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

LAST DATE
Last date for receipt of filled Application Form (Downloaded or Obtained by written request or Printout of the On-line Application Form as the case may be) along with Application fee is April 17, 2008.

Ph.D. PROGRAMMES
Application Form and other details for admission to Ph.D. programmes in the Autumn Semester of the Session 2008-09 can be downloaded from the Institute website www.iitr.ernet.in. The Application Form can also be obtained from the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247667” by sending a DD of Rs. 50/-. The filled Application Form may be sent to the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247667”, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee” payable at Roorkee. Last date for receipt of completed Application Form for Ph.D. programmes is April 17, 2008.
