Advertisement for admission to various courses for 2008 session
(English) (Hindi)

APPLICATIONS are invited for admission to the following courses for the academic session 2008-2009 commencing from July, 2008.
A. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE OF ASSOCIATESHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (ANSI) IN SUGAR TECHNOLOGY: (On merit basis of written entrance examination to be held on 21st & 22nd June 2008).
Minimum Qualifications: B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering having secured minimum 45% marks in aggregate, provided that in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes minimum Marks will be 40%. The candidates who have appeared in the final examination of minimum prescribed qualification for A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) courses, can also apply for admission. However they are required to provide the attested copy for the original marks sheet of the final examination at the time of counseling (as given in the letter to be issued to provisionally selected candidates) falling which they will not be admitted in the course and no relaxation is possible to be given on this account.
Duration: Two and half academic years.

B. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE OF ASSOCIATE SHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (ANSI) IN SUGAR ENGINEERING: (On merit basis of written entrance examination to be held on 22nd June 2008).
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical branch only. The candidates who have appeared in the final examination of minimum prescribed qualification for A.N.S.I. (Sugar Engineering) courses, can also apply for admission. However they are required to provide the attested copy for the original marks sheet of the final examination at the time of counseling (as given in the letter to be issued to provisionally selected candidates) falling which they will not be admitted in the course and no relaxation is possible to be given on this account.
Duration: Two and half academic years.

C. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE IN INDUSTRIAL FERMENTATION AND ALCOHOL TECHNOLOGY (D.I.F.A.T.)
Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. with Chemistry as One of the subjects with one year experience, after passing the B.Sc. in a Distillery/Brewery on a technical post as on 31.03.2008. Experience will be counted from the day after the date of issue of B.Sc. Marks-sheet and up to 31.03.2008. Nomination from Distillery or/Brewery is essential.
Duration: One academic year followed by four months practical training in a Distillery/Brewery.

D. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SUGAR ENGINEERING (S.E.C.C.)
Minimum Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering of a recognized technical school/college or Polytechnic with One year experience as Assistant Engineer in a Sugar Factory or Two years experience in Supervisory Capacity in a Sugar Factory as on 31.03.2008. Experience will be counted from the day after the date of issue of Diploma Marks-sheet and up to 31.3.2008 only. Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential.
Duration: Two Off-Seasons (July to November).

E. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SUGAR BOILING (S.B.C.C)
Minimum Qualification: Matriculate with Science/Agriculture and one season's Sugar Boiling Experience in a Vacuum pan sugar factory. Experience will be counted from the day after the date of issue of High School Mark-sheet. Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential.

F. PRE HARVEST CANE MATURITY SURVEY CERTIFICATE COURSE
Minimum Qualification: Intermediate with Science or equivalent with two years experience in a sugar factory laboratory or fieldwork as on 31.03.2008. Experience will be counted from the day after, the date of issue of Intermediate Marks-sheet and up to 31.03.2008 only. Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential.
Duration: One and a half month (15th October to 30th November).

G. FELLOWSHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (F.N.S.I.) BY RESEARCH.
I. F.N.S.I. in Sugar Technology
II. F.N.S.I - In Sugar Chemistry
Minimum Qualification: A.N.S.I. in Sugar Technology.

III. F.N.S.I. In Sugar Engineering
Minimum Qualification: A.N.S.I. In Sugar Engineering.

IV. F.N.S.I. in Fermentation Technology
Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology (D.I.F.A.T.)

Application for F.N.S.I. in Sugar Technology & Sugar Engineering should be sponsored by a Sugar factory for carrying out the research work pertaining to this course. Similarly application for F.N.S.I. in Fermentation Technology should be sponsored by a Distillery or Brewery for carrying out the research work pertaining to this course. In case the application is not duly sponsored it would be rejected.

Duration: For (I) to (III) three off-seasons of four months each or one year at a stretch followed or preceded by practical training for two cane crushing seasons in a sugar factory. For (IV) One year.

NOTE: (A) Application forms for following courses should accompany nomination form on the prescribed form provided with V application form. In absence of the nomination form applications shall be rejected.
(i) For D.I.F. A.T, from a Distillery/or Brewery.
(ii)For Sugar Engineering, Sugar Boiling and Pre Harvest Cane Maturity Survey Certificate Courses (i.e. S.E.C.C., S.B.C.C. and P.H.C.M.S.C.C.) from a vacuum pan sugar factory.

RESERVATION:
(I) In each course 15% of the seats shall be reserved for Scheduled caste and 5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates. If the numbers of candidates belonging to either of the communities are not adequate to fill up the seats reserved for them; it will be filled by candidates belonging to either community to the extent available. If the clumber of the candidates o belonging to both communities fall short of the seats reserved for them, the remaining seats shall be provided to General s Candidates. (II) Reservation shall also be made available in each course for: (a) The candidates belonging to rural areas; (b) Children of defense personnel either serving or retired or have died while in service. Certificate as prescribed must be submitted with the application for claim in respect of reservation otherwise such requests shall not be considered.

AGE: The maximum age of candidate for the purpose of admission to the various courses shall be 35 years as on 31.07.2008. Candidates born on or after 31.7.73 only be considered.

Application form can be obtained from the NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR-208 017 against Cash payment of Rs. 500/- (For SC/ST Rs.300/-) from 02.04.2008. If one desires to obtain the application form by post, he should remit Rs.500/- (For SC/ST Rs.300/-) by Money Order only payable to DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KANPUR. Candidates are advised to give their names and postal address in CAPITAL LETTERS ON MONEY ORDER FORM, CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

The application form can be sent by post only when the request for the same is received in the office of the DIRECTOR on or before 25th April 2008, as the last date of submission of complete application form is 15.05.2008. The forms can however be personally collected from the institute up to last date of submission of forms after making due payment.

Application on prescribed forms, completed in all respects with attested copies of certificates should sent in an Envelop Marked "Admission-2008" by registered A.D. so as to reach to the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR-208017 (U.P) on or before 15.05.2008. Late receipt of application forms by (he candidates should not be considered as an excuse for late submission of the application. It is, therefore, necessary that the candidates should try to get the application forms sufficiently in advance so that the applications, duly completed are submitted well in time. Application received in the office of the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR after 15th May 2008 will not be considered under any circumstances.

Admission to A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) and A.N.S.I, (Sugar Engineering) courses will be made on the basis of admission tests conducted at four centers namely KANPUR, DELHI, KOLKATA AND CHENNAI. For rest of the courses, selection will be made on the basis of interview to be held at NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR sometime in JUNE 2008. For A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) written test shall be conducted in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, each paper having maximum marks of 100 and 3 hours duration of B.Sc. standard. For A.N.S.I (Sugar Engineering) written test shall be conducted in one paper of maximum marks of 100 marks and 3 hours duration (Two sections of equal marks one of Mechanical Engineering & the other of Electrical Engineering). Candidates have the option to write the answers in either English or Hindi but all questions should be answered in one language only.
