ADMISSION NOTICE

FOR ADMISSION TO M.TECH COURSE IN LEATHER TECHNOLOGY

Application are invited by the Principal, Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology, LB/.III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-98 from GATE (or sponsored first Class B.Tech (LT) (or M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Bio-Technology with Min. 60% marks) for Admission to AICTE approved M.Tech. Degree Course. The relevant information and form for admission are available inthe website: www.gcelt.gov.in Hard coies are also avilable in the College Office. GATE scholars will get preference.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Two years M. Tech. in Leather Technology course approved by A.I.C.T.E and affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology in the Academic Session 2008-09. 1. Number of seats: 25 including GATE qualified and Sponsored seats. Reservations as per usual Government norms.

2. Admission qualifications:
a. Bachelors Degree in Leather Technology or Bio-Technology or equivalent with First Class marks from a recognized institution, University or M. Sc. in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry of Bio-Technology with minimum 60% marks from recognized Institution, University.
b. The candidates must have qualified in Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) conducted by IIT/IIS.
c. Sponsored candidates with qualification as stated in a above may also apply.
d. The aspiring candidates who have appeared in qualifying examinations may also apply, but they must qualify before the taking the admissions.

3. Mode of selection:
a. Candidates with GATE qualification will be given first preference and will be selected in decreasing order of GATE score.
b. In case seats are available after admitting GATE qualified candidates, non-GATE candidates will be selected as sponsored candidates and will have to appear in a selection test ( written followed by interview).
c. List of selected candidates will be duly put up in College notice board and they will also be informed over ordinary post.

4. Fees and Other Charges:
a. Tuition Fees:
· Tuition Fees Rs. 3,000/- p.m.
b. Other charges:
· Admission fee(one time): Rs.5,000/-
· Caution deposits (one time, refundable): Rs.8000/-
· Cost of identity card: Rs.50/-
· Registration. Migration, Examination and any other University fees as may be decided by concerned affiliating University, i.e., WBUT.

5. Important Dates:
a. Incomplete of unsigned application forms will be summarily rejected.
b. Canvassing in any form will be considered a disqualification.
c. Last date of receiving completed form: July 17, 2008 up to 4:00 P.M.
d. Selection test for Non-Gate applicants: Aug 1, 2008 from 11:00 A.M.
e. Publication of list of selected candidates: Aug 7, 2008 at 12 noon.
f. Date of admission will be announced along with list of selected candidates.
