1. APPLICATION FORM BY POST:
Application forms can be obtained by post from the Dean (Agriculture and Chairman Admissions, Agricultural College & Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore - 641 003, by sending a letter of requisition along with a Demand Draft for Rs.670/- (Rs.370/- in the case of SC/ST candidates) towards registration fee and postage with address label written in capital letters to which application is to be mailed.
2. BY WEB DOWNLOAD:
Application can be downloaded from the website: http://www.tnau.ac.in/. Those who are downloading the applications have to enclose a Demand draft for Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST candidates) while sending their filled applications.
3. IN PERSON:
Candidates can obtain the application form in person from the following colleges/centers by paying Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST candidates) towards registration fee, by Cash/Demand Draft.

4. ELIGIBILITY:
A pass in the Higher Secondary course [10+2] or any other examination considered equivalent with following subjects under academic stream for all 12 degree programs: 1. Mathematics or Botany or Biology as first subject, 2. Physics as second subject, 3. Chemistry as third subject and 4. One Elective as fourth subject, the elective subject being any one of Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Home Science, Nursing or Nutritional Dietetics.

5. All Demand Drafts should be drawn in favour of “The Dean (Agriculture), Agricultural College & Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-641003” payable at Coimbatore.

Candidates, who have not studied X, XI and XII standards in Tamil Nadu should furnish the certificate of permanent residence in Tamil Nadu as prescribed in the format enclosed in the brochure.
Those filling application downloaded online should enclose requisites application fee as DD only.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
Scholarships and fee concessions such as Adi Dravida Welfare Scholarships, Central Government Scholarships, State Government Free Education for Student from Non-Graduate Family, Periyar Endowment Scholarships and fellowships and scholarships from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and other agencies are available for the benefit of deserving enrolled candidates. These may vary according to the degree / college to which they are admitted and respective funding agencies.
Industry Sponsorship
Five Seats each in all the 12 undergraduate programmes are allotted to the members of the Agribusiness consortium. The candidate should have minimum educational qualification prescribed for the course. For details regarding membership for Consortium of Agribusiness, kindly contact the Dean (Agriculture) & Chairman Admissions, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. A request to this effect should be furnished along with the application. Candidates from all over India are eligible to apply.
Non Resident Indian (NRI) Quota
Five seats each in all the 12 undergraduate programmes are allotted under NRI quota. The minimum qualification for admission under this quota is as follows:
1. Age : 25 years
2. Minimum marks : Pass in Qualifying Examination
3. Fees payable : USD 2100/ Semester
4. The candidate should be sponsored by Non Resident Indian (NRI), who is a close relative of the candidate.
FACILITIES
i) Hostels with WiFi facility are available for both men and women in each campus and the messes being run on a dividing system basis. All students are expected to reside in the hostel attached to the Colleges. In exceptional cases, the Dean is empowered to permit students to be day scholars.
ii) A Students’ Centre with Canteen is present in each campus to provide stationeries and essential items. Plenty of scope for extra-curricular activities such as sports, literary and social service activities.
iii) A Olympic size swimming pool and modern fitness centre is available in the hostel premises.
UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS
The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has its beginning with an Agricultural School established at Saidapet, Chennai in 1876 which later blossomed to a college. In 1906, the college was shifted to Coimbatore. In 1920, the college was affiliated to the University of Madras with the introduction of a three-year degree program. Till 1946, the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore was the only institute for Agricultural Education for the whole of South India. In 1958, it was recognized as a Post-Graduates Centre leading to Masters and Doctoral degrees. The Agricultural College & Research Institute, Madurai was established in 1965. These two colleges formed the nucleus of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, when it was established during 1971.
In 1972, a new degree program of B.Sc. (Horticulture) and B.E. (Agriculture) were started. In 1979, the Faculty of Horticulture was established. In 1980, B.Sc. (Home Science) was started at Madurai Campus. The third Agricultural College was started at Killikulam in 1984 and the fourth at Navalur Kuttappattu, Trichy in 1989. B.Sc. (Forestry) program was started during 1985.
Presently the B.Sc. (Horticulture) degree program is being offered at Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam and B.Sc. (Forestry) at Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam. B.Tech.(Agricultural Engineering) is offered at Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute, Kumulur. B.Sc. (Home Science) degree program is offered at Home Science College and Research Institute, Agricultural College Campus, Madurai. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute, Karaikal governed by the Government of Puducherry is affiliated to TNAU where B.Sc.(Agriculture) course is being offered. 50% seats are reserved for Tamil Nadu candidates. B.Sc. (Agriculture) and B.Sc. (Horticulture) program are being offered by Self-Financing Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College, Kalavai which are affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University since 1999.
Apart from these academic institutes, the University conducts research programs at 34 research stations spread all over Tamil Nadu.
The ever changing agricultural scenario made the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University to start the following new courses viz. B.Tech.(Food Process Engineering) during 1998-99, B.Tech.(Biotechnology), B.Tech.(Horticulture) during 2002-03 and B.Tech.(Energy and Environmental Engineering) during 2004 – 2005. A new degree program, B.Tech.(Bioinformatics) is introduced from the academic year 2006-07. Considering the retailing boom and growth of IT services in India and elsewhere, two new courses B.S. (Agribusiness Management) and B.Tech. (Agricultural Information Technology) are introduced from the academic Year 2007 - 08.
REQUIREMENTS OF ADMISSIONS
The candidates shall be required to produce the following certificates in ORIGINAL at the time of admission;
i) Certificate showing the marks obtained in the HSC/Equivalent qualifying examination in each subject.
ii) The Original Community-cum-Nativity Card issued by the revenue authorities as per G.O.Ms.No.781, Revenue Department dated 2.5.1988 and G.O.Ms.No.36 dated 30-1-96 of Personnel and Administrative Reforms(S) Department read along with G.O.Ms.No.1773, Social Welfare Department, dated 23-6-84 and G.O.Ms.15 dated 22-2-96 of Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. An attested copy/Xerox copy of the same should be enclosed along with application for record.
iii) Conduct certificate from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate last studied for more than one year.
iv) Transfer certificate from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate last studied.
v) The candidates who have not studied X, XI and XII standards in Tamil Nadu should produce the certificate of permanent residence in Tamil Nadu in the prescribed proforma (Certificate – TNAU/2008 appended) from competent authorities.
vi) Medical/Health Certificate in the prescribed form from the Medical Officer, TNAU.
