Two Ph.D students of Electronics & Commnunication Engg. Department under DST-UKIERI project will be provided Institute Fellowship along with the Opportunity to travel UK for months in every summer for three years. Applications are invited from eligible candidates (Indian nationals) for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech.(Research) Programmes of the Institute with or without fellowship.
Ph.D.
Biotechnology and Medical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (Including Instrumentation Engineering), Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Humanities & Social Sciences (English, Psychology, Economics & Sociology).
M.Tech.(Research):
Biotechnology and Medical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (Including Instrumentation Engineering), Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.
A. Ph.D.
i) M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate(or 6.5 CGPA) at both B.Tech./(or M.Sc./M.Pharm/MCA) and M.Tech. levels
OR
ii) B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Pharm/ M.Sc.(Basic Science) /M.C.A. in relevant discipline with minimum 65% marks in aggregate or CGPA 7.0 in a 10 point scale.
OR
iii) M.B.B.S. with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA.
OR
iv) M. Sc. /M.A. / MBA in Humanities or Social Sciences or Management with 60 per cent mark or 6.5 CGPA
B. M.Tech.(Research)
i) B.E./B.Tech /B.Pharm /MCA/MBBS/ M.Sc. in Basic Science or Agriculture with at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.
(There is no relaxation in academic requirement for SC/ST/OBC/Handicapped students)
C. Students of one discipline may seek admission in a related department which will be considered on the basis of merit of the case. Selection will be made on the basis of academic record, relevance of qualification, candidate’s research interest, existing research programmes and facilities of the departments, and performance in tests and/or interviews.
D. Financial support: Fellowships/Assistantships are available to meritorious Ph.D. and M.Tech.(Res) students of all departments, the rate of which is given in the following Link. The revised rates mentioned below are subject to confirmation by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
E. Two fellowships in Electronics & Communication Engineering Department shall be awarded on the specific topic i.e.“Sensor Network” under UK India Education and Research Initiative project and shall be undertaken under the joint supervision of Prof. G.Panda and Prof. Bernard Mulgrew of the University of Edinburgh and that it will provide opportunity of visiting the University of Edinburgh of UK for a period of three months in every summer for three years.
A student receiving fellowship or other financial support is required to assist faculty members of department in teaching and research activity. He may be required to take theory, tutorial and laboratory classes and assist in student projects as assigned by the HOD.
Duration: Financial support is initially for a period of one year. All financial support can be renewed on year to year basis on satisfactory performance. Maximum duration of financial support is for a period of four years.
Fees: Students will be required to pay all institute dues applicable to appropriate academic programme.
Sponsored candidates: The Institute welcomes candidates from reputed academic and R & D Institutions, as well as from Government organisations and Industry. Sponsored candidates can work full time in the Institute or at their place of work after satisfying residential requirements, if facilities exist. Sponsored candidates must have completed at least two years of continuous service in the sponsoring organisation, which must be an institution of repute employing good number of engineering / science professionals. Sponsored students are expected to serve their sponsoring organization on completion of their degree in NIT, for at least 3 years after completion of the academic programme.

However, the last date of application under UK India Education and Research Initiative project of Electronics & Communication Engineering is 25th March 2008. The completed application form alongwith relevant documents should be sent to Assistant Registrar(AC), National Institute of Technology, Rourkela – 769008. Application without relevant documents will be rejected.
