B.Tech Lateral Entry Kerala: ADMISSIONS 2009-2010

LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram-695033 has invited applications for admission to the Second year/Third Semester B.Tech Courses under the Lateral Entry Scheme for Diploma holders, for 2009.

Those who have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education/Equivalent with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SEBC candidates whose annual family income does not exceed Rs.4.5 Lakhs. SC/ST applicants need only a pass in the qualifying examination. Those appearing for the final year Diploma examination are also eligible to apply subject to production of mark list at the time of admission.

Maximum age as on the last date of submission of application will be 28 years. Non-Keralites are also eligible to apply but their admission will be restricted to the Private Self financing Institutions and non-Government seats in the Government controlled Self financing institutions.

Candidates will be admitted only to the branch of Engineering as per the equivalency given in Annexure A of the Prospectus available at http://lbscentre.org/let09/let09.pdf.

Application fee is Rs.500/- for General candidates and Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates, which can be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram, from a Nationalised Bank. ST Candidates whose annual income is below Rs.40,000/- are exempted from paying application fee subject to production of income certificate for the same.

The Entrance Test will be on selected subjects of first year B.Tech course and English language as per the scheme and syllabus given in the Annexure-C of the Prospectus. Admissions to all Higher Degree Programmes except MPH are based on the performance of the candidates in a Computer based online test planned to be conducted during 12th-13th June 2009, at Pilani, Goa, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi (Noida), Hyderabad, Kolkatta and Nagpur, followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.

For MBA Programme, shortlisted candidates called for interviews at Pilani will also have to appear for a test in Reading Comprehension and a Group Discussion.

Admissions to MPH are based on the performance of the candidates in a written test, followed by Group discussion and interviews which will be conducted in Pilani on 27th July 2009. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati, Assam-781039, has invited applications for admission to the MA in Development Studies Programme starting in July 2009.

Admissions are given under Regular (Full -Time) and Sponsored (Full-Time) categories. Regular (Full -Time) students work full-time for their MA Degree. Sponsored (Full-Time) candidates are those sponsored by a recognized R&D Organization, Academic Institution, Governmental Organization, NGO, Development Agency or Industry, for doing MA in the Institute on a full-time basis. The applicant under this category must be a regular employee of the organization with at least 2 years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. Ayurved/Homoeopathic/Unani courses in State/Private Colleges in Rajasthan

Applications have been invited by Rajasthan Ayurved University, Kadwad, Nagaur Road, Jodhpur, Rajasthan-342037, for admission to the Ayurved/Homoeopathic/Unani courses in State/Private Colleges in Rajasthan.

Admissions will be made through a Joint Entrance Test, 2009 to be held at Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Kota, Sriganganagar, New Delhi & Lucknow on the 24th June, 2009 (Wednesday). The Examination Centres may also be located at Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Thiruvananthpuram, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal and Guwahati. There will be two papers for the test. Each paper carrying 360 marks will have 120 objective type questions. First paper to be held from 8 am to 10 am will have 80 Questions from Physics in Section A and 40 Questions from Zoology in Section B. Paper 2 to be held from 11 am to 1 pm will have 80 questions from Chemistry (Section A) and 40 from Botany (Section B). Each correct answer will fetch 3 marks. For wrong answers, 1/2 mark shall be deducted. Merit position shall be determined on the basis of total marks obtained in both the papers.

Admissions for Ayurved course being run by the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur and for the Homoeopathic & Unani Faculties will be made through Joint Entrance Test conducted at the National Level; for which the residents of all the States in India can apply for admissions. For admission to all the remaining Ayurved Colleges, bonafide Residents of Rajasthan may apply for the Joint Entrance Examination.

Applicant should complete 17 years of age on 31-12-09 and should have passed the 10+2 examination (Science Biology Group) of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education or equivalent there to. For admission to Ayurved & Unani Faculties, the candidate must have obtained at least 50% average marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Those who have appeared this year at 10+2 examination with Science Biology may apply for admission subject to the submission of 10+2 mark sheet with requisite (50%) marks in Science- Biology Group as per the time schedule.

Post Doctoral and Doctoral Programmes ( PDF, Ph. D): Applicants for Post Doctoral Fellow should hold a Ph.D Degree. Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications for admission to its full-time residential Programme leading to MPhil in Applied Economics of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, commencing on August 03, 2009.
Applicants can choose to be considered for provisional enrolment for PhD in Economics, either after the MPhil coursework or the full Programme, if meeting the requirements. The Programme has two-semester course-work and a dissertation.

Applicant should have a Master's Degree in Economics with at least 50% marks or in other Social Sciences, Humanities or Law with at least 55% marks or in Sciences, Technology or Life Sciences with at least 60% marks. SC/ST applicants and PH applicants with more than 40% disability are eligible irrespective of their percentage of marks.

The Programme follows an inter-disciplinary approach and those from non-Economics background are encouraged to apply. Those awaiting results of the Master's Programme can also apply, subject to the completion of the requirements of such Degree at the time of commencement of the Programme.

The Programme will have an annual intake of about 15 candidates. Two seats are available for officers deputed by the Government of Kerala. BTech (Information Technology)

A candidate who has secured 80 percent or more marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class XII from CBSE board or equivalent is eligible for appearing in the entrance test. (Those who have appeared in a Board whose results are not out by the last date of filling the form can apply if their AIEEE rank is less than or equal to 10000, provided they show their mark sheet of Class XII at the time of admission and must have obtained 80% in PCM). A candidate should also be less then 25 years of age on or before the first October 2009.

Note: No candidate without proof of 80% in PCM will be entertained for admission even if he/she qualifies the admission test

Relaxation in eligibility conditions Marks for Reserved Categories

Candidate belonging to the following categories, who apply for seats reserved for them, shall be allowed a concession in the minimum eligibility requirement as detailed below:

Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). A relaxation of 10 percent marks in the minimum eligibility requirements for the seats reserved for them.

Scholarships

Top 10% of the students including one girl will be eligible for scholarship (equal to 50% of Tuition Fess) for the first year. Scholarships in subsequent years will be based on performance in the previous years.

How To Apply:

Candidates seeking admission to IIIT-D will have to appear in the entrance test. Admission decision will be solely based on the merit in the entrance test, and all the seats will be filled through this test (that is, there is no "management quota"). The eligibility criterion on who can appear in the test is given below. Only students who satisfy the eligibility criteria are allowed to take the test and will be required to bring a attested copy of their mark sheet at the entrance test.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the entrance test, can apply online (this is the only way to apply). They will have to print out their form, paste a recent passport size photograph, and send it with a draft for Rs 500 payable to "IIIT Delhi" as examination fee to at he following address (through speed post only). Each candidate must keep a copy of this form, which is needed for appearing in the exam. However in such cases PDCs will be taken in advance from students. 25% to 50% surcharges will be leveled for foreign students. Government tax/service taxes payable extra if applicable. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

The students will have to pay for the study material, examination fees, project fees and other charges separately. Separate examination fees will be charged for the students appearing the examination in 2nd or subsequent attempts as applicable then.
