ADMISSION NOTICE 2008-2010

TWO YEAR POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PACKAGING

The two-year programme leads to a Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging.

Prospectus - Form

Minimum Qualification:
A candidate seeking admission for the Post Graduate Programme should have passed the full time (not by correspondence or part time) Graduate degree examination in Science (12 + 3 years degree) with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics or Microbiology as the main subject or Agriculture / Food Science or Engineering / Technology degree of a AICTE recognised University with minimum second class marks. Those with equivalent overseas qualification would also be eligible for admission. Candidate need to have consistently high academic performance & sound general knowledge.

Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examinations can also apply however they must submit their results / provisional results (as given by University) latest on the day of personal interview and selection as without their degree result students are not eligible for admission.

Duration
The course of study for the Post Graduate Programme shall consist of four semesters. Each semester will be of five-month duration. There will be one month vacation after each semester. During vacation if the students undertake any training in any organization Institute will not be responsible for the same. Students are expected to be present on the 1st day of the commencement of the semester.

Admission & Entrance Exam
A candidate for the Post Graduate Programme would be selected on the basis of academic merit and performance in the entrance examination comprising of a written test and interview. The written test will be in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering. The candidate has option to choose any questions provided the number of questions does not exceed a fixed limit. The test will be conducted at Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Separate Hostel for Boys and Girls at Mumbai.

Application form and prospectus can be obtained from IIP Mumbai/ Regional centres/ website by sending Demand Draft of Rs.500/- in favour of INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING or on cash payment at IIP. Filled in application form to be sent to IIP Mumbai office only.

About the Institute
The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), an autonomous body, is a national Institute set up under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt.' of India, with the active support of Indian Industries. Its headquarters and principal laboratories are located on a sprawling campus at Mumbai and its other centres are located at Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Activities of IIP today are in line with those of premier packaging institutes the world over. These are Training & Education, Consultancy & Projects, R&D, Package testing & Quality evaluation and others. IIP has close rapport with counterpart international organisations. IIP is a founder member of Asian Packaging Federation (APF) and World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

Tuition fees & Other fees
I)
A) One time fees ( payable at the time of admission) Rs.13,000/-+12.36% service tax
B) Fees per semester Rs 26,500 /- + 12.36 % service tax
C) Refundable deposit (payable at the time of admission) Rs 3,000/-
D) Hostel fees (optional ) only at Mumbai
1) Payable at the time of admission{registration fee (Rs1000) + Deposit (refundable Rs 1000)}Rs 2,000/-
2) Fee per semester Rs 8,000/-
E) Fees for application form/ syllabus/prospectus/ set of previous year question papers Rs 500/-

II) Fees for the subsequent semester should be paid before last day of previous semester.
Late fee @ Rs. 100/- per week.

All fees are to be paid by cash or DD (in favour of Indian Institute of Packaging) at the time of admission and before the commencement of each semester. Fees once paid will not be refunded.

III) Cancellation of admission
Only deposits paid, if any, will be refunded

Scholarship
Scholarships are given on merit and merit-cum-need basis. The award of scholarships would be decided, based on the merit in each semester examination and good conduct.

Important Dates
Last date for submitting filled applications: 30th May 2008
Entrance Examination (Written): 20th June 2008
Personal Interview (at Mumbai only): 30th July 2008
Admission (only at Mumbai): 31st July 2008
Commencement of the Course: 5th August 2008
Candidates will be required to appear for the Entrance Examination and Personal Interview at their own cost.

The seats for every academic year are as follows :

Delhi: 50
Seat reservation as per government norms

Facilities:
Library : The Institute has a well-equipped library with over 7,500 books, in addition to reference books, journals, standards etc.
Hostel : The programme is non-residential. However, hostel accommodation for boys and girls (with mess facility) is available at Mumbai and is provided on first-come-first-served basis.
