ADMISSION INTO M.TECH PROGRAMS FOR THE YEAR 2008-09

Applications in the prescribed proforma are invited for admission to the following M.Tech programs, 2008-2009.
M. Tech Admissions - 2008
COURSES OFFERED, ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA
Admissions are made on ALL INDIA BASIS for all the courses, with reservations as per Govt. of India. Reservations for OBC and the consequent capacity expansion is likely to be implemented.

4-SEMESTER (2 YEAR) M.TECH COURSES:
Candidates seeking admission into M.Tech in Engineering should have passed B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree in the subject concerned from a recognized University/ Institution with First Class and not less than 60% aggregate marks (of all the years) or equivalent CGPA of 6.5. In case of SC/ST and Physically Challenged (PC) candidates 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is the eligibility requirement.

The selection criterion for admission into all the M.Tech courses is GATE score.

· Applicants must qualify in the GATE paper appropriate to the discipline of their qualifying degree if a GATE paper is available in such a discipline
· Candidates should have qualified at the GATE held in 2007 or 2008 only. In case of a tie in the GATE score, the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination considering all years of study will be the criterion for preference. If there is further tie, elder person by age will be given preference.

Registration Fee:
Separate Application is needed for each Department. Registration fee is Rs.700/- (Rs.350/- for SC/ST candidates)

HOW TO APPLY:
The application form and other relevant information may be downloaded form the website www.nitw.ac.in. The filled in applications along with a crossed DD towards registration fee drawn in favor of “DIRECTOR, NIT Warangal” and payable at State Bank of Hyderabad, NITW Branch, code No. (20149). Should reach the Coordinator (Admissions), National Institute of Technology, Warangal-506004 on or before 17-05-2008.
*Reservation for OBC and the consequent capacity expansion is likely to be implemented.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND GENERAL GUIDELINES

I. A candidate for admission into M.Tech program should be a citizen of India.

II. Admission to foreign nationals, if any, shall be governed by the rules stipulated by the Government of India from time to time.

III. Application forms duly filled in and accompanied by the following documents should reach the Coordinator, Admissions, National Institute of Technology, Warangal – 506 004 on or before 17-05-08.

Ø A crossed demand draft towards Registration Fee (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates and Rs. 700/- for all others) should be drawn in favor of “DIRECTOR, NIT Warangal” and payable at State Bank of Hyderabad, NITW Branch, code No. (20149). Candidate’s name and address should be entered on the reverse of the draft. SC/ST candidates, who avail themselves of the concessional registration fee, should enclose integrated community certificate in the prescribed format, failing which the application will be rejected.
Ø Photocopies of Marks Memoranda / Grade Sheets of all the examinations leading to the qualifying degree.
Ø Photocopy of the GATE score card.
Ø Photocopy of Community Certificate in the prescribed format (Proforma), if the admission is sought against the reserved seat (SC/ST/OBC).
Ø Photocopy of the Degree / Provisional Pass Certificate of the qualifying examination. In case, final result is awaited, Provisional Pass Certificate should be submitted at the time of counseling or before the specified date given by the Institute.
Ø Photocopy of the Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
Ø One envelope (stamped) of size (9’’ x 4”) with detailed postal address and pin code (for dispatch of call letter) is to be enclosed by all candidates seeking admission into M.Tech programs.
Ø Two Self addressed slips to be enclosed.
Ø Self addressed Post Card for communicating the Registration Number.

Applications without these documents shall be deemed to be incomplete and shall be rejected.

IV. ACCOMMODATION
There are thirteen hostel blocks for boys, out of which six are provided with triple-seated rooms and other seven are provided with single / double-seated rooms. Five messes cater to the needs of the hostel inmates (boys). For girl students, there are two separate hostel blocks and a mess.


V. GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. Physical fitness: The candidate must not only be free from any physical defects which would be a disqualification for the students in engineering, but his / her physical condition must be such that it would enable him / her to perform efficiently during his / her studies.
2. Candidates who are previously selected for admission will be examined by the Institute Medical Officer and those who fail to satisfy the physical fitness standard prescribed by the Institute will not be admitted.
3. Candidates names will be provisionally included in the rolls only when the selected candidate reports at the Institute for admission, submits all the required certificates, in original, found to be medically fit and pay all the fees and deposits prescribed.
4. The Institute reserves the right to cancel the admission of any candidate at any stage (even after admission) if any error or defect is detected.
5. If it is found that any of the applicants admitted to the Institute has either furnished wrong information or tampered with the records, his / her seat is liable to be cancelled at any stage.
6. If it is detected that a candidate has been admitted due to any mistake committed inadvertently in the processing of the application, the Institute reserves the right to cancel the seat before admission is made final, without payment of any compensation for the inconvenience caused.
7. Candidates should note that the Institute will neither make any allowances for postal delays and irregularities in submitting application / in receipt of interview call letters nor entertain any correspondence in respect of such cases.
8. The Institute reserves the right to cancel the admission of any candidate on the basis of adverse remarks in the Conduct Certificate.
9. Wherever doubts or ambiguities arise in the interpretation of admission rules, the decision of the Director of this Institute in the matter shall be final.
10. The Director is authorized to take appropriate decision with regard to any other details of admission not covered by the rules listed above.
11. Candidates may please note that Kazipet railway station is about 2 kilometres from the Institute and Warangal Railway station is about 12 kilometres from the Institute.



IMPORTANT INFORMATION

a) Admissions are made on ALL INDIA BASIS for all M.Tech courses.
b) Separate applications are to be submitted for admission into different departments. However, one application would be enough for all the specializations available in a given department.
c) Registration fee is Rs. 700/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates) for any one department.
d) Applications are to be submitted along with photo copies of certificates and with a crossed Demand Draft towards registration fee. DD must be drawn in favour of “DIRECTOR, NIT Warangal”, payable at SBH, NIT Warangal Branch (Code No. 20149).
e) Name and address of the candidate should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft.
f) Candidates awaiting the results of the final semester may also apply. But, they should submit the final marks list before the date given by the Institute in case they are selected.
g) Applications submitted in any proforma other than the prescribed proforma kept in the Institute website or those received after the due date or those which are incomplete in any respect will not be considered.
h) Candidates should send their applications by Speed Post / Registered Post super scribing “Application for admission to M.Tech Program” on the envelope to the COORDINATOR, Admissions, National Institute of Technology, Warangal – 506 004, A.P.
i) Last date for receiving filled in application forms: 17-05-2008.
