ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India is a premier professional and statutory body constituted under the Cost & Works Accountants of India Act, 1959 as amended by CWA (Amendment) Act, 2006 to regulate and develop the profession of Cost & Management Accountancy in the Country.

Cost and Management Accounting – a specialised professional course can be pursued. If you have passed either

- 10+2 through the Foundation Course route or
- Graduates can join directly

Freedom to Pursue
- Executives in full time employment can join and pursue simultaneously.
- Can be pursued along with other full time studies.
- Can be pursued through Distance Learning Mode from anywhere in India.
- Option for Oral Coaching through experienced faculties at Four Regional Councils and selected Chapters across the country.
- Option to write the examination in Hindi medium.

Cost and Management Accountancy Profession in India
Widely known as Cost & Management Accounting profession across the globe. In the Indian context, the Institute is responsible for grooming the professionals to take up the challenges in the areas of Management Accounting, Resource Management, Performance Management, Financial Reporting and Strategy, Valuation Management, Risk Management, Enterprise Governance, Audit, Assurance & Taxation and Cost Management across wide spectrum of industry ranging from the manufacturing and services not for profit sector of the economy.

Admission is open throughout the year.

The States of Examination and Eligibility requirement to qualify as Cost & Management Accountatn are depicted in the following Table:

ELIGIBILITY:
Entry through Foundation Course for candidates who are:
17 years of age; and Passed Senior Secondary Examination under 10+2 scheme of a recognized Board.

Direct Entry into Intermediate Course for candidates who have :
Either Passed Foundation Course of the Institute
Or Degree examination of any recognized University or equivalent.
Completed 18 years of age on the date of application for admission.

Final Course for achieving the professional competency level after passing:
Intermediate examination of the Institute.

Last date for admission to appear in the examinations is regulated as under:
While the admission is open throughout the year, you will be able to appear

For December Term Examination, if you register latest by 26th June of the same year
For June Term Examination, if you register by 18th December of previous year

POSTAL & ORAL COACHING

FOUNDATION COURSE
Postal Coaching (Compulsory): Rs.3,500/-
Oral Coaching: Rs.3,500/-

INTERMEDIATE COURSE
Registration Fee: Rs.500/- (Registration is valid for a period of 5 years from the date of registration)

Postal Coaching – (Both Groups) Rs. 7,000/-
Oral Coaching – (Both Groups) Rs. 11,000/-
Computer Training (100Hrs): Rs. 6,000/-

FINAL COURSE
Postal Coaching – (Both Groups) Rs. 9,000/-
Oral Coaching – (Both Groups) Rs. 14,000/-

A registered student has to undergo 3 Years Practical Training either with a Practicing Cost & Management Accountant or under a Company as prescribed by the Institute. However, persons with relevant experience may be exempted form practical experience requirement.

In addition, the Regional Councils at Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai also organized Oral Coaching as well as refresher classes based on need.

Syllabus:
The syllabus of the Institute has been revised w.e.f. 01.01.2008 and is applicable for all new admissions. The new syllabus is funded upon four Knowledge Pillars viz. Management, Strategy, financial Reporting and Regulatory functions.

Foundation Course:
1. Organisation & Management Fundamentals 2. Accounting 3. Economics & Business Fundamentals 4. Business Mathematics & Statistics Fundamentals.

Intermediate Course:
Group I: 5. Financial Accounting 6. Commercial & Industrial Laws and Auditing 7. Applied Direct Taxation.

Group II: 8. Cost & Management Accounting 9. Operation Management & Information System 10. Applied Indirect Taxation.

Final Course
Group III: 11. Capital Market Analysis & corporate Laws 12. Financial Management and International Finance 13. Management Accounting – Strategic Management 14. Indirect and Direct Tax Management.

Group IV: 15. Management Accounting – Enterprise Performance Management 16. Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting 17. Cost Audit and Operational Audit 18. Business Valuation Management.

Opportunities for the qualified professionals include:
Practice, Academics and Employment, Management Consultancy services such as Financial Management planning and Financial policy determination, Cost management planning and Costing policy determination, Capital structure planning and advice regarding raising finance, Working capital management, Project finance, Management accounting systems including TCM, TQM, BPR, cost control and value analysis etc. Central Government has constituted an all-India cadre known as India Costa Accounting Service (ICAS) at par with Class – I services for framing fiscal and tax policies.
